Miss Dior Cherie Review

Hey hey,

How good was Evie C’s interview with Aussie Perfumer Howard Jarvis of Bud Parfums yesterday?

I found this somewhere on FaceBook a while ago, or maybe one of my friends sent it to me. Thank you to who ever it was. Every now and then I come back to it and worry about how silly we are as a race. Will the earth survive us?

MISS DIOR CHERIE

On a completely other track. Below is the incredible Natalie Portman for Miss Dior Cherie. I love her most in the bath with sunnies. HILARIOUS! Don’t you think so?

For me Miss Dior Cherie was too Fruit Tingle-esque, it sizzled away on my skin and though others thought it almost gone; every time I went to sniff, there it was larger than life but not in a good way. This is what the girls of today like to wear and good luck to them. My question though is, “Aren’t there a hundred fragrances out there that smell almost the same but half the price?” On a $20 bottle of Ambre de Cabochard the bow is cute, here I find it offensive and desperate, even though I know it’s a re-representation of an old school Miss Dior bottle. I’m sorry to anyone who loves this fragrance, it just did not work on my skin or for my nostrils. And, of course, because I hated it, it lasted on my skin for HOURS! which has made me tetchy with the whole shebang.

Yes, not a great literary endeavor today, nor is it sufficiently objective, sorry. Didn’t like it, can’t pretend. You may love it, try it at any department store for free. The DIOR SA’s are usually lovely, helpful and smiley.

Have you spritzed something lately that tried your patience? Tell me in the comments, I love to read others tales of fragrant torment too.

Have a lovely day all,

Portia xx

Angel makes me want to rip my nose off. And the unknown men’s perfume that I’m yet to identify, I want to push men wearing it into oncoming traffic.

    Fragrance is quite emotive, no?

Oh phew! You didn’t like it. I read the title in my Google Reader and wondered how I would comment on this post.

I love fruity fun from time to time (adore my Byredo Pulp actually, and it is FRUIT-IN-YOUR-FACE) but Miss Dior Cherie is so very meh.

Oh, and to answer your question, some of my recent mimosa and helitrope tries have gone very badly. Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum was the little dangly car freshener that hangs from your rearview mirror, and Annick Goutal’s Le Mimosa turned into fruity shampoo half an hour in.

      • I have a big smile on my face and am glad someone else didn’t love it. I was afraid that there would be a nasty backlash.
My aim is to try all the DIOR’s now, online. Mainly because I respect the house and its history, oh, and the ads are AH MAY ZING>

Just checking: you do know that there is no Miss Dior Cherie any more? Now (after they sell out the remaining stocks) it’ll be produced under the “new” name – Miss Dior, no less. And the original Miss Dior will be called… Miss Dior Original (or something like that). There was a big outcry lasr year in the Perfumeland because of these changes. I still hate the idea.

I read many times that the first release of Miss Dior Cherrie was much better than recent reformulations (and there were several, if I’m not mistaken) and there are fans of that first release. I never liked it so I’m not sad it had been changed.

In a long time I do not remember spraying on my skin anything I would hate enough to scrubb it off: I’m being very cautious with what I spray and while applying anything from a dab vial I usually manage to start really small, not to suffer too much if it doesn’t work 🙂

    • Yes, I knew that they were changing. How silly. Talk about a marketing boo boo. Ahh, maybe it was good earlier. That makes sense. I learned a lesson, but probably not very well. There were no samples so I had to take a triple spritz on the top of my hand, in case it was a fader. HAH! Serves me right. I didn’t scrub though, lived through it.
Thanks for dropping by Undina, all good up there?
