Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger is a family run company founded in 1998 by Virginie and Antoine Roux. French. Côte d’Azur. Their perfume line was launched in 2005/2006. They also do chocolates, decorations, oils, mustards, honey and of course orange flower water, to mention but a few, but we´ll just be taking a brief look at three of their perfumes today. The do have a mouthwatering Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger website though!

Oranges, Roses and Lavenders – Timeless Beauties

Lavande Ombree Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger FragranticaPhoto Stolen Fragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Lavender, bergamot
Heart: Cinnamon, rose, cedar
Base: Amber, patchouli, leather, musk

Lavande Ombrée by Jean-Claude Gigodot 2013

Lavande Ombreé is very leathery. Now I love leather, but blended with a smoky lavender it is perhaps better suited to a bloke. ( One has to be so careful!) Lots of birch tar, lavender and as it develops, a lurking rose appears. Add that to a hunk in a biker jacket and it could be quite the combo – for anyone!!

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Orange blossom, sicilian bergamot, mandarin orange
Heart: Jasmine, rose, fruits
Base: Cedar, vanilla, musk, sandalwood

Neroli Blanc Intense by Jean-Claude Gigodot 2005

My favourite orange is a Terry´s chocolate one.

Neroli Blanc is a big time fragrance. No hiding your light under a bushel with this. It is thick and syrupy and packs a punch. Laced with jasmine and vanilla, hovering on a rich musky base, it warms you to the bone. Glamourous. Perfect for partying on the yacht dancing the night away. It comes in a serious chunk of glass. It weighs 400 grams, including the perfume. That should give you an idea. Very striking. Check out Bonkers About Perfume take on Neroli Blanc Intense.

Rose Irisee Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger FragranticaPhoto Stolen Fragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, orange, vermouth
Heart: Almond, rose, iris, ylang-ylang
Base: Woody notes, cedar, patchouli, musk, vanilla, sandalwood

Rose Iriseé by Jean-Claude Gigodot 2014

This opens with with a bright burst of Iris. Metallic and smooth. I expected rose. This irisean (?) burst however gives way quite quickly to a lush, velvety rose. It is perfectly lovely. Do not be deceived. It becomes very seductive as it heads into the dry down phase. Patchouli, vanilla, and musk entwine with the rose. Charming with a retro vibe. This is hands down my favourite of today´s three.

All of these have great longevity and proper perfume stages. They are beautifully executed. Go see the site Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger<<JUMP

  2. I’d go with Rose Irisee, I have a thing for good rose fragrances, especially those with a whiff of seduction! Follow by email. 🙂

  3. From your description I would have to say Rose Iriseé. It sounds gorgeous. I love the iris in Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile and Iris & Lady Moore by Jo Malone and my Mum’s name is Iris so it’s a sentimental choice. I follow by email.

  4. ANY of them – depending on mood 🙂 right now, I`d pick the Neroli Blanc Intense, for it is still very Summertime in temps here – and I hope we have Indian summer! We are rockin` in the USA, and follow a la FB, e-mail.:-)

  5. The Neroli Blanc Intense is making my nose twitch this morning – I love jasmine and neroli! Though I have to say the Rose scent also sounds quite lovely. I follow APJ mostly through e-mail, though sometimes also on Facebook.

For me it’s a toss up between the the neroli (love orangeblossom & a gourmandy orange blossom sounds like a type of gourmand that I might actually like/love) and the Rose & Iris one. Intriguing combo!

  7. I loved reading this excellent review! I have never heard of this perfume line, and they all sound glorious! I was especially enthralled by your description of the luscious Neroli Blanc Intense, every word sank in saying “must try!”
I follow via email. Thank you so much for sharing your impressions and for this generous giveaway!

  8. i suppose if one looks at my aromatic history, an obvious choice would be Neroli Blanc…. my past is awash in neroli… but as we head into autumn here, i think an edgy lavender would be a nice change for me and everyone smelling me. 😉

    so Lavande Ombree it is!

i follow by email and reside in the usa.

    cheers!!

ps: i am not sure what a ‘bloke’ smells like, but i am sure you could pull it off just fine Val!

  9. While all sound just lovely, I am drawn to Neroli Blanc Intense. Is it the major orange blossom? the rose? the fruits? the cedar? yummy vanilla? The cheeky bottle that looks so solid to handle? Most likely every thing. I’m in the USA and follow by e-mail. Thank you for the chance to try a new line.

  11. No need to enter me in the draw, and thanks for the mention of Bonkers. 😉 I haven’t tried the other two scents but the rose one sounds as though it would be my thing. Frankly I was surprised to have liked the diva orange one as much as I did!

  12. All three are interesting to me, maybe Lavande Ombree intrigued me the most. I appreciate good lavender perfumes a lot. Lavender seems a simple raw material but some lavender perfumes are really stunning. So, “smoky lavender”+”leather jacket”… I follow via email, WordPress, RSS(on my Firefox), twitter, FB, everything as usual, even during vacation. 🙂 Great day to all of you here.

  13. The scent from Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger reads most about me is Rose Iriseè because it’s cold hearted iris and soft luscious rose. Two notes I really really enjoy in perfume. Iris is cold at first bit once it warms up the Rose come front and center just like me when I first meet people. This fragrance sounds wonderful! My thanks for the draw!

  14. Rose Irisee is the the most immediately appealing as I don’t have enough scents with iris in my small collection and this sounds a very interesting blend.
    I follow by email.
    Thanks for the draw opportunity.

  15. I’m very curious about the lavender one (not that I’d refuse to try the rest ; -) ).

The brand has to do something about their website – it looks too… generic. Maybe they should have commissioned it to Mozart (instead of Salieri 😉 )?

  16. They all sound nice. I’m intrigued by Lavender and leather working together. However I know iris and Rose work well so probably Rose Irisee.

I think I would go for the Neroli Blanc Intense, I love a big fragrance and the notes sound amazing. I am very into anything with a vanilla base at the moment and rose and jasmine are my fav florals so it sounds right up my alley!

  24. I’ve never tried any perfume from this line. From your description, Rose Irisee sounds most appealing. The contrast of the dry iris and plush rose sounds interesting. Also, I’m a big iris fan. So this one sounds right up my alley.

Thanks for the giveaway. I follow by email.

  25. Well, even though you said it might better suited for a guy, Lavande Ombrée still sounds like the best of the three to me. 🙂

  28. Hi, Val —
Lavande Ombreé got me right off because of the birch tar, which brings back childhood memories of our house in the suburbs of New York. My mother loved birch trees and there was a big one in the front yard. Now, many many years later, I’ve got 3 birches in my front yard. I can’t even imagine what birch tar would smell like in a fragrance, can’t wait to find out!

I follow by email. Thanks for instigating this super giveaway!

    Much aloha,

They all sound great! Lavande Ombreé sounds especially great for fall, with jackets and scarves and unisex strong leather…but Neroli Blanc Intense sounds like the warm, glamorous parts of summer distilled. Rose Irisée sounds classy and elegant, with a drydown that sounds very me. Decisions are hard…but probably Neroli Blanc Intense would be my favorite right now in August. Don’t want summer to end!

  30. Wow, what a great giveaway… thanks for the chance!

I’ve never had the chance to try Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger fragrances, and I honestly wouldn’t know which one to pick as they all sound wonderful and unique. Rose Irisée would be my istinctive choice, you definitely had me at “lush, velvety rose” and the base looks very sensual, deep and smooth.

I follow APJ via e-mail. Thanks again!
