Saturday Question: What’s On Your Perfume Wishlist?

Hello Fellow Fumies,

Once a week here on Australian Perfume Junkies we have a Question, an idea purloined from Olfactoria’s Travels. Everyone gets to chime in with an answer, chat with other responders and it is generally a fun event each week. Taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

The idea is you’ll see it on the weekend or chime in through the week. Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Over 100 responses I will draw a $10 Surrender To Chance Gift Card.
Over 200 responses I will draw a $20 Surrender To Chance Gift Card.
Comment purposefully on yours or anothers comment & you’ll have a chance, will draw on Friday.

Last Weeks Winner: $10 Surrender To Chance Gift Card Lillibet

    1. Profumum Roma – Arso
    2. Bogue Profumo – MEM
    3. Papillon – Tobacco Rose
    4. Tauer – Vetiver Dance
    5. Parfums de Nicolai – Vie de Chateau Intense

    • Damien Thorsson says:

I love Vetiver Dance! It’s such a beautiful scent.

Have you looked at the prices on Andy’s site? They’re much cheaper than Australian retailers. Plus, free postage!

      • Kate Apted says:

D, you can’t buy full bottles and ship to Oz from Andy’s site. Samples and soaps only. Sad, sad face.

      • Saffyishere says:

Does Andy Tauer make good long lasting soaps? Have you bought any , Kate?

      • Kate Apted says:

Hey SA, yes I have bought Andy’s soaps. Gorgeous scents and long lasting. Loads better value than the Dior soaps I bought. Sana gas actually nagged me a few times to get more if Andy’s soaps. They are transparent glycerine.

    • Erica says:

I’ve stared lusting after MEM. I need to test my sample some more but it sure is lovely!

      • Kate Apted says:

Erica, please tell me MEM is FB worthy. I am lusting over this, but I REALLY need to get my paws on a sample first. I am such a lavender tragic. 😜

      • Lillibet says:

*Pricks up ears* Did somebody say lavende?

      • Lillibet says:

Oh lord! Just read some reviews of MEM…that is sooo going in my next sample selection.

      • Kate Apted says:

Aha! So you are a lavender fiend too?! I’ll need to do that too.

  3. Azsa says:

Heeley Phoenicia, papillon Anubis, cognoscenti blue oud, Kerosene blackmail, lattafa raghba

  4. jac says:

    Januari Scent project – Smolderose
Histoires de Parfums -Marquis de Sade
Dolce and Gabanna : the One for men Edp

    Tauer Carillon Pour un Ange
    Boadicea Victory

  8. Gina says:

I just noticed top 5. Sorry!!! I can’t delete it. Ugh.

    • You and I are both wishing for Carillon Pour Un Ange! I’ve sniffed it at La Basilica Galeria in Barcelona (AMAZING perfumery, perfume collection and display) but I haven’t sampled it on my own skin. I adore muguet/lily of the valley as a fragrance note and as a live flower.
Old Herbaceous recently posted…The Gift of MuguetMy Profile

      • Mary says:

I live in southern Spain but my daughter lives in Barcelona and I often visit la Basilica. It’s a fabulous perfumery! My Christmas present always comes from there ❤️

    • Kate Apted says:

Gina, yay! Another Tauer Carillon fan here too! My most beloved LoV scent EVER! Truly an angel singing.

  9. Tara C says:

De Profundis vaporisateur is discontinued, you should snp it up asap if you really want it in that format.

My wish list is as follows

    Kilian Black Phantom
    Papillon Dryad
    N. Goodsir Nuit de Bakelite
    Aedes Pelargonium
    Alien Musc Mysterieux

  10. Papillon Dryad
Tauer Carillon Pour Un Ange or Delrae Debut
    Nicolai Le Temps D’Une Fete
Guerlain Muguet 2016 (in silver filigree bottle)
Eric Buterbaugh Florals Virgin Lily of the Valley

I do think the one of the above that is realistically on the horizon for an upcoming birthday is Dryad. I’m also eager to explore more extraits and learn more about those, so that may be a new direction for my wishlist in the future.

    Tauer Au Coeur du Desert

    Guerlain Bois d’Armenie
    Malle POAL in vintage formula
    Vintage Dioressence in Parfum concentration

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Nice choices Fazal.
I have a Vintage Dioressence parfum that is just about to turn nasty. I can smell it imploding when I put it on. Still gorgeous though.
      Portia xx

      • Fazal says:

I have Dioressence in vintage edt and Esprit de Parfum and I love it in Esprit de Parfum concentration. I am curious how much an improvement could parfum be over Esprit de Parfum.

  14. Elaine Richard says:

    As of 7/29/17
    Irisoir by Sultan Pasha
    Aurum d’Anghkor Sultan Pasha
    Onda by Vero Perfumo
    Dark Side by Francesca Bianchi
    Cuir Caribes by D. Jourquin

  15. Maggiecat says:

    Dame Perfumery Monsoon
    Dame Perfumery Earth Mother
    MFK Lumiere Noire (full bottle)
    Chanel No. 5 L’Eau
and players to be named later…

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hey MaggieCat,
Did MFK do Lumiere Noire He & She? I can’t remember. LOVE the one I tried.
      Portia xx

  16. Mary says:

Top five, after having just crossed Anubis off the list 😊😊😊
    Le Sillage Blanc
    Tobacco Rose
    Rêve D’Ossian
    Au Coeur du Désert
    Precious Woods
and, although it’s more of an impossible dream, Oudh Infini

    • Kate Apted says:

Such a lovely selection, Mary. Elegant scents. And a little of everythong. The price of Oud Infini is a little beyond me too.

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

These guys are beautiful. Very nice choices Mary.
      Le Sillage Blanc
      Tobacco Rose
      Rêve D’Ossian
      Portia xxx

  17. empliau says:

My wishlist today (subject to change without notice)

    Diptyque Olene
Vintage Chanel No. 19 Eau de Toilette
    L’Artisan Chasse aux Papillons
vero.profumo extrait – Mito or Rubj, need to smell them again
    Hiram Green Dilettante

    • Tiffanie says:

La Chasse is so pretty. Just yesterday I realized I have more bottles from L’Artisan than any other house.

      • empliau says:

I know, right? One of my major regrets was not buying some while on holiday (the salesperson offered a 10ml travel spray free). Someday I’ll get it, though.

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hey Empliau,
Tell me about Diptyque Olen, I love Diptyque but the range is so big I get overwhelmed before I even start sampling.
      Portia xx

      • empliau says:

Well, it’s a delicate BWF, if such a contradiction in terms exists – a true wisteria and narcissus, with jasmine and (I think) honeysuckle. It could be too much, but the sillage is not huge. I love it and have had testers and decants, but need to commit to a FB.

      • australianperfumejunkies says:

Sounds beautiful. I’ll look it out.
        Portia xx

  18. Tiffanie says:

    Guerlain Vol de Nuit EdT
    Arielle Shoshana EdP
    Shalimar Eau de Cologne (vintage)
Les Infusions de Prada Amande EdP
    Chanel Eau de Cologne

Chanel Eau de Cologne is a cheat for a To-Buy list. I adore it but can’t imagine spending for a full bottle. It is the most perfect eau de Cologne though. I have used up several decants. The other four I would definitely like to have full bottles and belive I would wear them often.

I try not to wish for much, I feel I’ve gone a few bottles too far already. There are always samples and decants to keep the wishing fun. I’m waiting for samples of MEM and You or Someone Like You to arrive in the mail. Exciting!

    • Kate Apted says:

      Hi Tiffanie,

How hard is it to justify?! I pretty much do the same logic regarding full bottles. Would you wear the Chanel Cologne during winter etc? Or summer only? My most favoured scents are those I get more milage from.

      Kate x

      • Tiffanie says:

I wear colognes all year round, they are among my favorites. Though I already have colognes I adore (Cologne du 68, Eau de Guerlain, and 4711 are a few), I know if I ever use those up and someday feel ready to buy a bottle of Chanel EdC I will enjoy it without regret. 🙂

      • Kate Apted says:

OMG! 😱 How brilliant is Cologne du 68?! People rave about it and I gave it no thought. Got a bottle cheap and it BLEW ME AWAY! The only cologne I can wear any time.

      • australianperfumejunkies says:

Another Cologne du 68 lover here! Yummy stuff.
        Portia xx

      • Tiffanie says:

Completely agree, Cologne du 68 is fabulous. That Guerlain would discontinue it is incomprehensible to me.

      • australianperfumejunkies says:

They only DC what isn’t making money or can’t be made to current strict guidelines. It’s still a bummer.
        Portia xx

  19. Kate Apted says:

Like many of you, I keep a list. Well, I did. Until recently. I have a functional list and a unicorn list. There is also a back up bottle list. Here’s the functional list:

    * Le Jardin Retrouve – Tuberose Trianon
    * Dusita – any!
    * Chanel – Egoiste
    * Tauer – Carillon Pour Ange
    * Teo Cabanel – Barkhane

I notice that Portia’s list is alphabetised. And has colours for ‘gone off’ etc. I alphabetise the house and then order under the house according to ‘wantability’. Then I highlight based on price, availabilty and how often I’d feasibly wear it. Ok…detail overload.

    • Lillibet says:

What are the qualifications for the Unicorn list Kate?

      • Kate Apted says:

Largely unobtainable. Scents that are once in a lifetime opportunity and waaaay out of my price range, if still available from vintage sellers.

      • Lillibet says:

Kate my list is really just a list of emotionally-based wants usually from first impressions where things float up to the top (or drift down) according to how often I find myself reaching for them and whether the love lasts through susequent wearings (rationallty kicking in) and the price certainly plays into that.

Amouage Bracken Woman is a big want right now but I’m toying with whether it would be better to get a decant or more samples instead of a FB. Could have 2-3 others on my list for that price with a decant or sample of BW…decisions decisions…

        Lil Xx

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

HA! We are peas in a pod Kate.
      Portia xx

  20. Anastasia says:

My wishlist is over 300 perfumes)) but what I really-really want are

    Atkinsons – Amber Empire
    L`Artisan Parfumeur – 32 Venenum
    Lubin – Korrigan
Olfactive Studio – Still Life in Rio
    Papillion – Anubis

  21. Sue Huff says:

    Not necessarily in this order

    Parfumerie Generale Tubereuse Couture
    Houbigant Quelques Fleurs Royale
    Serge Lutens Majestic Rose
    Dusita Melodie De L’amour
Va Cleef and Arpels Gardenia Petale

I think I can see a pattern forming here! 🙄

    • Kate Apted says:

Erm. Floral, by any chance?! 😂 Sublime list you have. Gives me ideas!

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hi Sue,
Tuberose Couture is AH MAY ZING! Not like any other tuberose I know. great choice.
      Portia xx

      • Sue Huff says:

Yes Portia I’ve just had a sample of Tubereuse Couture from Luckscent and I’ve fallen very hard for it! I’ve worn Fracas on and off (when I could get it) since the early 80’s and love it but now it may have slipped from top spot!

      • australianperfumejunkies says:

        HA! Yeah. It’s amazing.
I know t’s not a big seller for Pierre but he loves it so much that he keeps it in the line.
        Portia xx

  22. Greg says:

Wow, that is a big long list you have there. I’m trying really hard to limit the amount of perfume I buy, so am keeping the wish list to an absolute minimum. Right now, mine would be:

    Papillon Anubis
    Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
    MFK Masculin Pluriel
    Tauer L’Air du Desert Marocain
Some vintage find that takes my breath away.

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

Do you ever use the MFK Travel Sets? I love those. One for me and two to share.
      Portia xx

      • Greg says:

I haven’t used those, or the similar FM sets. They just seem to work out way too much in $/ml compared to FB.

      • australianperfumejunkies says:

Yeah, they are expensive but I figure I’ll never get through 50ml.

  23. Lillibet says:

Wow thanks Portia! Super timely because I was just thinking about placing a new sample order.

My top 5 wishlist items at the moment are:
    – L’Artisan Passage d’Enfer
    – Serge Luten La Fille de Berlin (Backup bottle because initially bought a second hand one with only about 10mls left in it)
    – Amouage Bracken Woman
    – Juliette has a Gun Gentlewoman
    – ELDO Putains et Palaces

Mind you the items move around in this list every week 😉

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hey Lillibet,
Congratulations on your win. It was lovely to see your name match the number.
I just ordered a 100ml bottles of Serge Luten La Fille de Berlin. VERY excited to see how they look.
      Gentlewoman is wonderful. Great choice.
      Portia xx

      • Lillibet says:

That will be exciting 🙂 I hope you post with your impressions when it arrives!

Yes the rumoured discontinuations of the 50mls is also a factor that moved LFdB up my list!

        Lil Xx

      • australianperfumejunkies says:

        Yeah, I totally will.
Bit bummed it won’t match the rest of my Lutens bottles though.
        Portia xx

      • cookie queen says:

I just bought a 50ml bottle for Hannah, her third. Lucky here because they sell Serge in my local town, not 3km from here. And I got 20%. LFdB is so gorgeous. X

  24. Undina says:

I have one bottle that I won’t mention here now (not to jinx the sale) and I can think of just one more that bottle on my current “To Buy” list – Chanel Bois des Iles extrait.

There are several perfumes on your list, Portia, that I also like – not sure if I’ll ever buy a bottle but I woudn’t mind wearing Fleur Nocturne by Isabey, Grandiflora Michel by Magnolia Grandiflora and Vert Boheme by Tom Ford.
Undina recently posted…The Perfume Museum of BarcelonaMy Profile

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hey Undina!
Grandiflora Michel by Magnolia Grandiflora has been on the list since it was released. I don’t know why it’s not in the collection yet. Crazy.
Good luck with your current buy and Bois des Iles extrait is wonderful. YUMMO!
      Portia xx

  25. Ceil says:

Pappion Angelique and Floris Bergamotto di Positano.

    5. Areej Le Dore Siberian Musk

Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 Wish Come True
    Andy Tauer Zeta

    Sospiro Perfumes Classica

  28. Mariann says:

Just bought Avignon which has been on my list for awhile. Next up would be a Hermessence travel set with Epice Marine, Vetiver Tonka, Vanille Galante and the 4th one is still open. Would love love some DK Chaos and Guerlain Vetiver pour Elle but theyre discontinued.

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hi there Mariann,
Isn’t Avignon beautiful? What an amazing fragrance. Catholic churches in my childhood.
Loving your first three picks for your Hermès Travel Set. How exciting to have not picked your fourth, you’ll get to sample them all again.
      Portia xzx

  29. Anna Maria says:

    Guerlain Santal Royal
    Terryfic Oud by Terry
    Vert Boheme
    Tuberose MdO

One Day…meanwhile samples will have to do

  30. Tim says:

    Love your list gorgeous.
I am surprised I actually have a few from your list.

Don’t really keep a list but these 5 are what I’ve tested before and WANT:
    Puredistance M
    TF London
ELdO You, Or Someone Like You
    Lubin Korrigan
    LL Rose 31

I did manage to cross two off from my WANTED list last year: Bandit and Journey Woman.

    XXX… T

  31. Ingeborg says:

I don’t keep a list and smaller travel sprays and decants from different niche lines (Hiram Green, Zoologist and others) will maybe be bought before any of the following:

    Chanel No 19 parfum (extrait)
Dior La Collection Privée: Ambre Nuit, Fève Délicieuse and Grand Bal
Aedes de Venustas ( the signature scent with rhubarb)

I would love to know when exactly Dior will start selling smaller bottles!

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hey Ingeborg,
Aedes de Venustas ( the signature scent with rhubarb) is on my list too SNAP!!
