SOTD 22 – 28 January 2018

I see these SOTD (Scent Of The Day) threads all the time on Facebook and they are really good conversation generators.

SOTD 22 – 28 January 2018

The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc.

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Over 100 responses I will draw a Scent Sample Pack (from my collection)
This week:

  1. MFK Cologne Pour Le Soir
  2. Parfumerie Generale Eau de Lilas
  3. Keiko Mecheri Grenats
  4. Le Labo Baie Rose 26
  5. Worth Courtesan

Comment purposefully on yours or anothers comment & you’ll have a chance, will draw on Sunday.

Last Weeks WINNER: Diana

  1. chez Marzipan says:

Last night I found an essential oil blend in the basement that I made a while ago and forgot about so I wore that to bed…very heavy on the oakmoss that I got from Eden Botanicals. Today I am wearing a woody concoction I made for my daughter from pine sap I collected when we cut down a huge pine tree several years ago.

I also tested Wood Infusion on the hubs and holy cannoli it smells AMAZING on him!!! Definitely a unisex scent…versatile but sexy 🙂

    Happy Monday everyone!

    • MMKinPA says:

So that’s so cool that you are using pine sap you collected!

      • chez Marzipan says:

it was a royal pain (very sticky so I had to mix in some carrier oil and then heat both to amalgamate) but so worth it…

    • shiva-Woman says:

I’m very interested in these oils, especially the one made with pine sap. Do you think you’ll open your own line up someday?

      • chez Marzipan says:

oh lordie No! This is just a passion and a hobby that I have been engaging in for many years. Lots of experimentation with oils which is something I enjoy and encourage all of you to do as well. The sap involved me scraping the “ooze” from the cut tree into a glass vial, adding some sweet almond oil to it and then placing it in very hot water to meld them together….after that I just combined it with various other essential oils of my liking.

    • chez Marzipan says:

Oh and I forgot to say no need to enter me in the draw 🙂

    • Kate Apted says:

CM, I agree that Wood Infusion is a great unisex scent. It has a very different quality on my son’s skin. With autumn round the corner, I think it will really come into its own.

    • Sue Mills says:

I am so impressed by your ability, chez Marzipan! I wouldn’t even have thought to collect the sap, let alone know what to do with it.
And the Wood Infusion sounds like a winner, too!

      • chez Marzipan says:

Well the sap was an accident…I got some on my fingers and loved the way it smelled so I collected it..and I figured I could get rid of the thick/stickiness by just diluting in a thinner oil….don’t be too impressed 🙂 ..believe me, we all know enough about fragrance that we could all play around and blend something nice.

The Wood Infusion is fantastic…I might just make it my SOTD tomorrow!

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

Wood Infusion is so good CM, glad you’re loving it on thew hubs. Goldfield & Banks fragrances are definitely worth a sniff.
      Portia xx

  2. australianperfumejunkies says:

Di8vine EdP. LOADS of it. Heavenly.

  3. Gina says:

A frag friend dubbed this the week of the cheapies. I started off with Aquolina Black Sugar.

  4. Tena says:

I worked all week and all weekend ( yay for being a CPA at fiscal year end) so I spritzed a bit too much Mitzah in order to get me up and out the door.
Have a great day you wonderful smelling people!!

  5. MMKinPA says:

SSS Equestrian. For some reason this is a huge love for me. The hay? In any case, when Laurie announced she was selling her remaining stock via email I didn’t hesitate to request her larger bottle of this. Fortunately I was apparently quick enough to get in the top of the queue and she was able to bottle mine before she needed to take a break. So I will have at least one of my beloved SSS perfumes in the larger bottle. Happy Monday! The snow is almost melted and I’m worried that it’s warm enough to trigger the hyacinth bulbs!

    • chez Marzipan says:

yay for you!!! had a feeling you would be one of the first in the queue 🙂

For some reason Equestrian was not a head over heels in love for me….but there are/were so many others in the line I absolutely adore!

      • MMKinPA says:

I can’t put my finger on why I like it- I don’t think if got a ton of love out there but that means there was some left for me. I didn’t really have budget for anything right now but I considered it an emergency!

  6. shiva-Woman says:

I’m wearing Shangri La by Hiram Green–I needed a strong, cheerful tropical today to get through a long 12-hour work day, not counting commute.
    shiva-Woman recently posted…SOTD 22 – 28 January 2018My Profile

    • crikey says:

Twelve hours PLUS commute? Oof that’s tough. (I should stop whining about mine, which is 12 including)

    • Saffyishere says:

      12 hours? Wow I’m so lucky….my husband has a 5 minute drive [2 without waiting at traffic lights} and I have a 15 minute drive {well either a friend ,my hubby or a taxi driver}
I hope this isn’t always happening

  7. VerbenaLuvvr says:

Today I reached for a heavy hitter, the now discontinued Versace Versense. A little goes a long way with this one, but I love the sweet lime-y top.

    • Neva says:

Already discontinued??? That was quick. It was one of the perfumes from the house of Versace that I really like, although not enough to buy a FB.

  8. Diana says:

My god, it’s the last week of January!. How time flies… It’s been a good month, though, even though being a freelancer I haven’t done much work. I watched a ton of movies instead and went through a lot of threads here and on FB 🙂

I wore Dianthus by Etro yesterday. My namesake is gorgeous! I love carnations, this one is one of the best I’ve smelt so far.
And today, it’s Issara. Smells like a forest in summer.

    • Kate Apted says:

Diana, what are your other favourite carnation scents?

      • Diana says:

Hey Kate! A couple of soliflores I’ve liked (but haven’t bought full bottles yet 🙂 ) are Oeillet Bengale Aedes de Venustas and Vitriol d’oeillet Lutens (not sure about the latter, though, it’s peppery).
Being a die-hard Guerlainophile I love and wear l’Heure Bleue and its Russian counterpart (it was made decades before LHB!) Krasnaya Moskva (“Red Moscow”).

I thought I would love Bellodgia but that never happened. Do you have any favourite carnations?

    • Diana says:

Portia, please don’t count me in this week 🙂

    • Saffyishere says:

congrats on your win….yes the month has already nearly disappeared.
Isn’t it fabulous you having a fume named after you?

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

January is tough for freelance, my pocketbook starts to look ragged by the end of the month too Diana.
      Portia xx

      • Diana says:

Yes, Portia, ’tis the season of the emptier than usual wallet, lol.

Hope it’ll change for the better very soon.

  9. Kate Apted says:

This morning it is Quelques Fleurs – Houbigant. Yesterday was Mon Guerlain in AM, Suffolk Lavender in PM and bed time was Knowing.

I am rather keen to try a challenge. A 5 day wear or a use up decant/sample or cheapies for a week kind of thing. Anyone got any ideas?

    • chez Marzipan says:

I will do a five day wear challenge with you….as in wear the same scent for five days, right? two summers ago I wore the same scent for seven weeks in a row!!! (that was also a challenge)

    • chez Marzipan says:

Kate- I will do five days of Wood Infusion starting tomorrow 🙂

    • crikey says:

I keep getting this weird urge to wear my perfumes in alphabetical order, to break out of associations and types. Or a week wearing perfumes with juice of seven different colours.

  10. Fazal Cheema says:

I am wearing Shiseido White Rose and that, too a vintage version. Guess what? Tea Rose is very close to it. The White Rose I am wearing is dark brown in color while the modern White Rose is almost transparent so I don’t know whether the modern White Rose also smells close to Tea Rose. Mine is really really heavy rose fragrance with green facets as if the smell of stem has also been incorporated besides the flower.

    • Diana says:

Fazal, that’s so good to know!

    • chez Marzipan says:

I had a sample of the modern White Rose and loved it…transparent is a good description of it! I think Tea Rose (from what my nose remembers) was headier…

      • Fazal Cheema says:

That may be why my vintage White Rose reminded me of Tea Rose because it is kinda heady and not really transparent. This is why I was not sure whether modern White Rose is exactly as vintage or a bit different. The modern has transparent liquid while my vintage is dark colored, just like Youth Dew.

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

Tea Rose is so good, perfect for a particular feeling. I gave mine away Fazal and often wish I hadn’t.
      Portia xx

    • Sue Mills says:

Fazal, which house is the Tea Rose you are referring to? Thanks.

  11. Ingeborg says:

I wore Grapefruit Rhubarb edt from l’Occitane.Feeling under the weather, so needed a sharp citrus note today. Will look for something warm and comforting for bed.

  12. Lanier Smith says:

    “Am I blue
    Am I blue
Ain’t these tears, in these eyes telling you?”

my scent of the day is L’Heure Bleue.
    Big HUG!

  13. Sue Mills says:

Almost over whatever this bug is; I’m still coughing and tired, but the fever and headaches are gone, so I am very grateful. We’ve had very high temperatures in the last week with a few cooler days but back to the heat horrors by the weekend. Australia Day on Friday is going to be very hot and it looks like 40C for back to school!
I usually struggle trying to find something to wear in the heat, and I have not worn any fragrance at all since I got sick so today may be the day to get back on the horse. Suggestions for cooling, calming notes, anyone? Hope you’re all having a good day.

    • chez Marzipan says:

Lavender is always calming for me…frankincense and citrus can be cooling…do you have any 4711 on hand or any citrus colognes? anything from the Atelier cologne line?

      • Sue Mills says:

Hi CM and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I will look into your suggested notes, thank you. Lavender has been a bit of a challenge for me but I would like to find one that I love.
I am ashamed to say that my late grandfather used to gift me 4711 all the time when I was little … and I kept none of it, but obviously it’s time to introduce myself to it again.
I do have Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger, which I love but I find it really gutsy (which is one of the reasons I love it), so needing something a little gentler. I did wear Givenchy’s Eau Demoiselle yesterday and that was good, but did seem to fade quickly. The day before I went for Yardley’s English Rose – simple and clean. Today is Versace’s Bright Crystal, which is something I never thought I would like as it’s pretty sweet, but I had forgotten how good it is for summer – bright but somehow cooling.

    • Saffyishere says:

Lemon, neroli, orange blossom ,fruits ,like raspberry or watermelon?
Hope you get better soon….Are you a teacher, or have kids returning to school?

      • Sue Mills says:

Thanks, Saffyishere. I’m going to investigate citrus, thank you. I’ve never thought I was a fruity fragrance person, but I need to broaden my horizons. Thanks for those ideas.
I’m getting better, but I wish I had a fragrance that lasts as long as this lurgy!
I have a 10YO going into Year 5 on Monday – can’t wait for that first coffee of freedom after drop-off!

    • Melanie says:

Sue, sorry to hear you still not well. Us Adelaide gals might soon all melt – i know we should be used to summers like this but i dont seem to handle them so well anymore. I think its the hot nights that hurt – tis much nicer when its cooler at night when things (and people) get a chance to cool down. how about a water/marine scent?

      • Sue Mills says:

Thanks, Melanie, yes, that melt factor is real! Very glad to see that the temperature is coming down next week.
Must admit, despite, like Seinfeld’s Kramer, being desperate to find a true ocean scent, I don’t actually have any aquatics or marines … needs to be rectified!

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hope you’re fully recovered Sue.
      Portia xx

      • Sue Mills says:

Thanks so much, Portia, nearly there!
Getting back into wearing fragrance shows me that I am definitely on the mend.

  14. Neva says:

After wearing heavier perfumes and vintages for a while, I needed something fresh and floral today. I’ve chosen a sample of Magnolys from Andree Putman Perfumes expecting a magnolia dominated perfume. Well, all I can smell is peach and since I enjoy peach as a note in perfumes I was really happy the whole day. Bonus – it still lasts and it’s alredy 11 pm. I think tomorrow I will repeat this exercise.

  15. Melanie says:

Voleur de Roses (L’artisan) today from my brand spanking new bottle – found at a super price so was surprised to get new label. very happy rose & patchouli gal today!

    • Saffyishere says:

I’m after a rose scent.. this has been suggested by a few peeps. Melanie where did you buy it? Does it leave a trail behing you and last more than 4 hours on you?

      • Melanie says:

Hi Saffishere – new bottle from
its got a lot of patchouli too so not entirely rose. sprayed liberally and would say on me yes it lasted 4 hours. Wouldnt say a trail, a fog perhaps! having said that i work in a small office with a bunch of obviously boring style-less peeps because no one said how lovely i smelt! ha ha!
let me know – i could send you little sample to try…..

      • Melanie says:

how funny – i just remembered i’ve also got a sample of Desert Rose by Dame in my bag. will trial this too for you Saffyishere and let you know how rosey it is xo

  16. Alanna Maloney says:

Hi, APJ’s, I am loving every minute of reading what you all are getting into!
Sunday: I was decanting perfume for my fab Mother in Law so I got soaked in vintage Paloma Mon Parfum, but I got cleaned up and wore Guerlain Nahema to bed.
Monday: Day: Tauer, Un Rose Chypree Night: Jicky, Guerlain
Does anyone know if the current Jicky is worth buying? Mine is a tiny vintage decant and I really want to get to know this fragrance better.

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

Alanna, that is hilarious! “but I got cleaned up and wore Guerlain Nahema to bed” What a lovely way to put one of my faves down. Love the old Paloma! HA HA HA!
      Portia xx

  17. Tiffanie says:

Eau de Guerlain for me tonight, refreshing and calming at the same time. I was surprised to realize I have not worn it since last November! And I love it so much! I wish I could wear, oh, let’s say about a dozen scents a day so none are neglected. 🙂

  18. Hage Kay says:

So today I decided I would go back to one of the sadly neglected scents and this was Precious Oud by Van Cleef & Arpels. How one’s tastes change over time. Once I adored it but today I am finding the wood and oud just too much, it has a bit of that cheesy gourmand note to it, which could be the oud. This was 1 of a 3 set by Van Cleef and I actually love the Gardenia Petale and Ambre Imperial much more.

  19. australianperfumejunkies says:

Rochas Byzance today. I figured it’s so hot that my frag should reflect that.
    Super glam too.

  20. chez Marzipan says:

In solidarity with Kate I am day 1 of Wood Infusion…this stuff is glorious!

Portia- I had a dream last night that you were making youtube videos 🙂 Must have been due to the fact that I saw Lanier’s comment up above.

Today is going to be a very long day….end of day meeting at work….will be happy when it is over!!!

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Hiya CM,
I did make a bunch of YouTubes but they really need to be edited and consistent, APJ is enough work as it is. If the blog was making SQUILLIONS I’d get a crew in to do it.
      Portia xx

      • chez Marzipan says:

OMG!!! Now i have to look for them!!!!!! I want to see you in action 🙂

      • chez Marzipan says:

You are just adorable, P! And I LOVE your accent 🙂

      • Ingeborg says:

I had to find one or two of those videos. A good mix of adorable and silly! I do understand your written blogposts better, I guess. Had to laugh about your comment re: the name of Sang Bleu.

  21. MMKinPA says:

I walked the dog wearing Shalimar EdC and after shower rocking Cuir de Russie. Getting my hair cut today and my stylist doesn’t like feminine florally perfumes so I always like to pick something leathery or masculine for her sake.

  22. AnnieA says:

Almost finished a bottle of Bendelirious! First CB finished in I don’t know how long.

  23. Tena says:

Wearing some of my treasured bottle of Iris Ganache. We have gone from -28 C to +16 C and 40 mm of rain, so I have officially given up on seasonality and and just grabbing whatever strikes my fancy.

  24. Melanie says:

L’artisan d’Ambre today for me. Seem to be having a run on L’art. Might do Mure et Musc tomorrow to finish off the hat trick!

  25. Jyotsna says:

I’m over the heat. Teh kiddo’s been sick so it’s all eucalyptus and berry-syrupy cough medicine smells around us.

I long for something fresh & light today but my stuff is usually heavy, deep and dusky. So it’s some unnamed lavendar sprtiz thingy.

  26. Melanie says:

I’m trialling my Niki St Phalle tonight. Reminds me of Knowing. Might suit me better when it’s cooler. Won’t give up on it just yet.

  27. chez Marzipan says:

    Day 2 of Wood Infusion

  28. Cassieflower says:

Happy hump day everyone. I smell awesome in Bal a Versailles (thanks to the fabulous Portia).
Problem is that I’m home today and there’s nobody around to smell me. I’ll have to go out.

  29. Diana says:

So French by Jose Eisenberg, – love it! It reminds me of Chanel’s Cuir de Russie but frankly, I like it better because of SF’s plummy notes and smoother leather vibe.

  30. VerbenaLuvvr says:

Today I am on travel. My rule is always to wear citrus cologne on such occasions as I feel it is the option that smells cleanest and is least offensive when in such close proximity to others, so the choice was Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil. And I received no complaints! 🙂

  31. Melanie says:

Changed my mind last minute to Tokyo Milk Tainted Love. Really getting this one today – helps to have sprayed on a bit more than usual! Last few times i wore it, i didnt think much of it so pleased i can actually smell it hanging around today. It will be tested when i head out later into the heat.

  32. Saffyishere says:

Hey all…Sorry I missed you yesterday.. to tell you all about my Tuesday and Wednesday scents.
Tuesday I wanted something with rose…I couldn’t find the sample of Nightingale’s Cup, so thought I’d use my bottle of Summer Roses by Stella McCartney…Well while reaching in my perfume drawers, I brought out another bottle; vintage C&E Gardenia…so I smelt of gardenias not roses. On Tuesday night before I went to bed , I searched in my many places I stash my samples and found the Nightingale’s Cup…gorgeous ‘waxy’ rose. The jury is still out on this.
Thursday morning, and dreading going to work…I fear my BP is sky high, and I feel ‘wobbly’. So to keep me calm I’m wearing Yardley’s Lavender.

    • Jyotsna says:

      Keep Calm and Smell Gorgeous.
Hope you’re feeling better and non-wobbly.
      I love rose scents.

    • Diana says:

Saffy, all your roses sound delightful! I hope your BP has started to behave. Get better (and better and better 🙂 )!

      • Saffyishere says:

I am a naughty patient, nd often forget to take my medication, or get my scripts refilled/ visit doc to get new scripts ect….then my BP gets high…. so high it is scary and dangerous.
The lavender did help…in fact at one time during last nights shift I was so busy/ overwhelmed I felt I was on the verge of tears/ panic attack…so I delved into my handbag, sprayed some more of the Yardley’s Lavender, took a few deep breaths, and carried on

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

      Get well Saffyishere.
      Portia xx

    • Sue Mills says:

Saffyishere, have you tried using MedAdvisor, an app for phone and laptop? I use it to keep track of my parents’ medications and it sends reminders of when scripts are due etc.
      Please look after yourself xx.

  33. Jyotsna says:

My husband is on his death-bed with the man-flu. I’m wearing vintage Arpège so I am stately and refned.

  34. chez Marzipan says:

    Day 3 of Wood Infusion

  35. Neva says:

I’m wearing Galop d’Hermes from my new decant. Today I smell the soft leather more than ever before. Normally it’s the quince (to me it smells like apple) that is more prominent. I like the unexpected change today.

  36. crikey says:

Vintage Miss Dior yesterday, because what better to wear when you don’t know if your day is going to be amazing or horrible, but you want to smell fabulous regardless?*

L’Heure Bleue on Tuesday. Bapteme de Feu on Monday. It seems that this week is all about rocking the big time favourite loves. Currently pondering something loud and obnoxious as I’m working from home today.

(* amazing. Big assessment session with my Coach, and I’m cleared to start rehab work. Three and a half months of no lifting at all after damaging a tendon, I am overjoyed to be allowed to start getting ready to start again. Though not allowed near a barbell for a few more months yet…I’ll be the one in the corner with the tiny baby barbie weights, learning to check my ego and be glad.)

    • crikey says:

Went full bombastic. I found a bottle of Poison that’s been barely touched for 25 years or more.
And, without thinking launched into four spritzes.
Which may be three and a half too many.

    • Cassieflower says:

You’re one helluva woman, Crikey😀. I can’t even lift a 3kg weight during my gym class as I’ve got tennis elbow. How. In the name of God. Did I get that? But you need to take those ickle baby steps back to full strength. Patience is a virtue and blah blah blah

      • crikey says:

Ouch, Cassieflower, tennis elbow hurts! (A friend got it from embroidering, of all things.)

thank you, though! Getting strong was so much fun, I don’t mind doing it all over again. I will get impatient, though, and be grumpy that I can’t lift what I used to magically and immediately. But I’ll be back benching again 🙂

    • australianperfumejunkies says:

Slowly but surely Crikey, don’t want to stuff it up for good.
MISS DIOR! No better scent for just about anything.
      Portia xx

  37. MMKinPA says:

Chergui for a cold and possibly snowy day!

  38. VerbenaLuvvr says:

Today it is Dame Chocolate Man. I need to find a marshmallow scent to layer this with, any recommendations welcome! 🙂

  39. Diana says:

Today I’m wearing Shambala by Russian indi-perfumer Anna Zworykina. It’s a beautiful combo of slightly smokey notes with those of dried fruit, – dried fig specifically, – musk, hints of sandalwood. Besides, it seems so well-made, like a tailored jacket.

  40. Cassieflower says:

Hypnotic Poison today. It’s hitting all the spots.

  41. Saffyishere says:

I’m feeling gah… hot ,bothered and just not quite right….If it wasn’t a public Holiday I’d be staying home
Anyway, wearing the gorgeous, but quite cheap Jovan Musk for Women

  42. Tiffanie says:

This morning was chilly and grey, a perfect time for Clinique Wrappings. This afternoon I refreshed myself with a few spritzes of 4711 and it made Wrappings bloom again. Accidental layering makes for some fun surprises.

    • Neva says:

Interested combo Tiffanie. I’ll try it the next time. Wrappings is my all time favourite and it always brings a smile on my face.

    • Saffyishere says:

Oh I finally got myself a bottle of Wrappings Nov ’16, after wanting a bottle for quite a few years.
It might be a gorgeous choice for tomorrow….it blooms in Summer heat.

    • chez Marzipan says:

Wrappings is a major blast from my past….I wore it when it first came out…my guess is sometime in the 80s…wonder how current rendition compares to vintage.

  43. Melanie says:

Rocking two scents today. I love a day off 🇦🇺 Got Tauer Une Roses Chypree on left arm, YSL M7 Oud on the right.
The roses is really interesting, not my usual choice but it’s strangely attractive to me. There’s something sharp in it.
M7 goes a bit mouldy, dirty on me. Not projecting much either but I’m getting wafts of the Tauer.

    • Jyotsna says:

UNe Rose Chypree! Tauer. Yes! He’s The Man I Want to Meet ™. (I mean the perfume related person). I wish they could ship to Australia. Happy AD 🇦🇺!

      • Saffyishere says:

You are able to buy Tauer frags/ soaps at Men’s Biz in Sydney and Melbourne.
I’m after a rose based scent… perhaps I need a sample of In Rose Chypree?

    • Cassieflower says:

Rose Chypree is beautiful. One of my favourites from the three sample tins I recently purchased.

    • Cassieflower says:

Oh and happy Australia Day to everyone down under. Breakfast radio this morning were asking for people to send in their favourite songs from Australian artists, or films or anything connected to Oz. Angry Anderson came on a few minutes later. I still remember that wedding scene with Kylie and Jason.😍

    • Saffyishere says:

Is it the M7 Oud Absolu? I, well my hubby owns..well I bought it for him, so it’s kinda mine… I digress….

  44. Jyotsna says:

Hot and muggy. Just can’t get comfortable. Wearing Charlatan (Fort & Manlé)
No sense in not smelling delicious.

Happy Holiday, Aussies! Sending you a whole lotta warm wishes today (and any other day 🙂 )

The remnants of Miss Dior (vintage edt). I love all my perfumes, – otherwise I just swap them, – but there are two especially dear to me: Shalimar and Miss Dior.

    Day 4 Wood Fusion

    • Jyotsna says:

CM- are these different blends that you are wearing each day? I love woody scents.

      • chez Marzipan says:

No it’s the Australian Brand Goldfield and Banks Wood Infusion. I won a decant from Portia and Kate and I agreed to a wear the same perfume for five days challenge and I picked Wood Infusion which I am glad I did because I have NOT grown bored with it yet! Loving it!

    • Saffyishere says:

Are you sick of the Wood Fusion yet?

      • chez Marzipan says:

No I rather like it….I also enjoy being able to spend some time with one fragrance and really get to know it.

  47. VerbenaLuvvr says:

Today it is Chabaud Lait de Biscuit, so softly sweet and yummy, I’m like a big sugar cookie!

  48. Cassieflower says:

I can’t even remember what I sprayed on this morning. The reason for this is that later on I went to the PO and picked up my latest delivery. I went back to my car and ripped it open, I even had a scissors with me to speed up the process. I took it out, gave a tentative little spritz on my arm to test if it had turned, took a big sniff. Whooee, it was flipping marvellous. And what was it that caused all the excitement? Max Factor Stevie B from the early 70s. Does anyone remember this? Or am I walking a long lonely road through the wilderness? The very top notes are a bit faded but 6 hours later it’s still going strong. I am super happy with it.

    • Melanie says:

Cassieflower, while I don’t know the scent you purchased I am super impressed you had scissors on hand. I usually just struggle trying to use my car keys to open my parcel. Enjoy your perfume xx

      • Saffyishere says:

Melanie, I suspect Cassieflower was a Girl Guide, or like your description of struggling with car keys, she was sick of doing that. Sadly ,you might just be out in the wilderness, Cassieflower, however you’ll be smelling fabulously fabulous.

  49. MMKinPA says:

Parfums de Nicolai Sacrebleu Intense. One of my 2017 purchases because I kept going back to my sample, and it comes in smaller bottles (something has to be really good and wearable every day to get me to buy 100ml any more!)

  50. Saffyishere says:

Woke in a fright….bad dream….then I heard doorbell… hubby is home from work….Awww I can smell his Lalique Homme… Showered using Green Tea shower gel, sorbolene cream and a sample of Salome by Papillon

    • Cassieflower says:

      Morning Saffy
What do you think of Salome? Isn’t it just something else? It is so rich and dark and retro imho. I haven’t tried anything quite like the Papillon range, ever. I’m not sure though how it will react with the heat there, I would only dare bust it out in the depths of winter. I laughed at your comment above. The very notion of me ever being a Girl Guide😂 I was far too busy smoking round the back of the bike sheds with my friends, and scheming how to get out to meet whichever boy I had my eye on at the time. No, the truth is that I’m just the most impatient person ever, and can’t be faffing around trying to tear tape and cardboard when I’m in a desperate hurry they get at the goodies.

      • Cassieflower says:

PS hope the BP is under control now.

      • Saffyishere says:

Cassie flower I just sprayed a little on my hand…it is boldly brash, and not good in the heat. I showered ready for work. Dencorub on the back, Il Bacio… my Wedding Scent.
I suggest if you love Salome you might like to try Zelda by En Voyage scents.
I hope my BP is better…I’ve been feeling less ‘wobbly’, but really been too busy at work to notice. It is my back which is giving me the willies atm

  51. Tena says:

I had surgery to remove a cancerous area in my cervix, so no scent for me until just now.
I went for AA Herba Fresca – decidedly non-wintry, but the mint note helps no combat the nausea the anesthesia creates.
All is good, and no further treatment is to be required.

  52. Jyotsna says:

Ex ninilo fleur narcotique again. Trying to figure out what I like about this one. The lingering softness is… well, so soft and gentle.

    • Jyotsna says:

      Ex Nihilo. Stupid, fat fingers!

      • Saffyishere says:

Sounds gorgeous, Jyotsna….something I could use right now lol
We had an eventful shift at work…verbal tet a tet between 2 residents, a fire alarm, a resident fell, the air con wasn’t working efficiently, and staff who were very hot bothered and a ‘little’ impatient with each other.. Thankful to be home….air con gorgeous here, cool shower, Dencorub and DKNY Be Delicious on my skin

  53. chez Marzipan says:

Day Five of Wood Infusion…challenge met 🙂 and enjoyed it!

  54. crikey says:

On a little holibobs adventure to London with my beloved. Just a few days. Swaddled in Cuir Cannage for the train journey down along a misty wintery coast, and it’s just right sort of luxury for a drizzly day. (And here, though we said we wouldn’t, doing a bit of a long looping wander-walk around old stomping grounds, and wallowing in nostalgia.)

  55. Melanie says:

Too hot to go anywhere today. Will finish last three episodes Game of Thrones S7 and catch up with everyone else! And then watch some more tennis.
Smashing Mitsouko edt today. It had so many mentions in posts this week I thought what the heck!

  56. Saffyishere says:

I’d love to be staying home today…bummer tis still Sunday… but AHAHHHH.. tomorrow is Monday… my Sloth Day!
I’m wearing my Fancy/ Stash combo today… and I’m very happy with it.

  57. Ingeborg says:

Have been wearing Rose Ikebana from a sample twice this week. Even with four sprays it is nearly gone in less than two hours! So lovely while it lasts, and I’m not even someone who would wear a lot of perfumes with rose as a main note.

  58. Jyotsna says:

Wearing a liberal splash of Parfum de Maroc. Somehow suits this lazy, languid day.

  59. Diana says:

Eau Parfumee au The Rouge by Bulgari, finishing off the decant. I dismissed when I first got it as it reminded me of Midnight in Paris, – still does, but Bulgari’s juice is heavier on strong tea notes, and now I like it quite a lot.

  60. crikey says:

Picked up a sample of Bogue’s MEM yesterday, and it’s been fascinating me all day. It’s beautiful and interesting. A rare combo. It was a particularly useful distraction while I spent two hours standing in a queue for an exhibition. (My own damn silly fault for not booking in advance.)

  61. Ingeborg says:

I applied liberal amounts of BV Knot before heading out the door. Family dinner, and I was afraid a bolder perfume would disturb the taste of the wine and fiood. Knot quiets down quickly, but has a long dry-down. It blooms better in warmer weather it must be said, but it’s an easy go-to scent.
