Mercedes Benz Perfume by Michel Almairac for Mercedes Benz 2013: 2014 Ads

Hey all,

Well I’m back home and have nothing scheduled for tonight. AAAARRGGGHHH!!! I have found the ad campaign for the new Mercedes Benz Perfume though on art8amby.

Do I think the fragrance will be as good as the ads? My fingers are crossed.

    • Hey JackieB,
I am fortunate that I do not suffer jet lag, or fools.
I totally know! It’s spooky isn’t it? Porsche, Jaguar, and now Mercedes Benz. I wonder is it SO lucrative? It must be. But surely it’s a drop in the ocean for a car manufacturer?

      • Don’t forget (or please forget) Ferrari Black, Extreme, Red, Light…lots of these with the Ferrari logo. I’ve been afraid to try any of them. Ancillary luxury products also include watches. Who can forget (or who is trying to forget) the cute horse cluttering the dials of Girard Perregaux, Heur, Tissot, Hublot , Zenith…

  1. That’s the only way some people will ever own a Mercedes. Lol. Peach up top, a few flowers, and white musk in the base. I don’t know, but it sounds like it will smell no different from a lot of the mainstream stuff out there already.
Welcome home! I can’t wait to hear your version of your trip. I’ve been reading everyone else’s posts and it looks like a good time was had by all.

    • Oh Poodle,
A GREAT time was had by all. I’m waiting for some of the photos to come through yet, what a holiday!!
Yes, Mercedes Benz Perfume reads so generic it hurts.

  2. Warning: rant coming!

Yuck. Car manufacturers should not do perfume. The whole concept just seems only about a label, a brand. At least it makes sense for a luxury goods brand to do perfume. But this is Mercedes stepping into the wrong territory; it’s for people who live way beyond their means, just to flash labels. It will be a typical sweet, watery, clean floral with laundry musks.

And maybe it will be good….who knows?

    End rant…

Yes, it’s a surprise isn’t it. Probably for label flashers, but if it’s no good then the jokes on them. I really want to try it now, just to see.

  3. That’s interesting, because I had a meeting at Daimler a few years ago about dashboard paint and trim etc, and we got to talking about their in-car perfume dispensing system. I don’t remember much about it but I think it was somewhere near the cigarette lighter and worked on the principle of interchangeable cartridges or something. Half a story, I know! What is going through my mind now is that there will be a proprietary fragrance to use in your Mercedes. 😉 Well, assuming that perfume dispenser wasn’t just in the Maybach! Almairac did Burberry Women and Bottega Veneta so it might smell nice enough, if not ground breaking.

    • Yes Michel Almairac has done some wonderful frags, Bottega Veneta, Casmir, Gucci Pour Homme, Gucci Rush, Voleur de Roses. It may be a winner but there is plenty of dross in his lineup too. I can’t imagine they’ve given him a large juice budget.

  4. I have two back ups of Cuir Amethyste, perfumer Michel Almairac, and can see why MBenz would have turned to such an expert in leather accords, but I have ‘hit the wall’ with perfume releases. There is no will to sample any more when I still have some classics to find. I will keep an eye out for it though. Regards fellow sniffmasters.

    • I did not know trhis. Great pick up. I LOVE Cuir Amethyste but it will have a better juice budget I think.

  5. An unreconstructed feminist comment. Why isn’t the woman driving the bloody car? Women drivers? Or perhaps female self-esteem doesn’t require a large penis – sorry – car, just a rich man with a large car – sorry – penis. Other rants available on request.

  6. This may be unfair of me, as I’ve never actually smelled any car-maker scents, but I have the visceral feeling that I’d rather take my chances with a celebrity scent.

    • Ha! LaurelS,
I thinki there may be a correlation. We had a boy staying here who wore a Ferrari frag that was VERY sweet, OMG, I had to drink loads of water when he wore it to fend off diabetes,
