   And no, I haven’t tried Olympic Orchids but my favorite “Parfum De puts” (lol) is L’artisan parfumeur mute et music extreme. It’s an older puta… Fuller bodied, sensual, sweet, musky, and knows how to keep you drawn in.

5. I follow by e mail. My seduction fragrance changes with my mood and the season. Let’s just say my “looking for trouble” perfume has been vintage Balmain’s Jolie Madame. I don’t think of it as skanky, but it evokes that feeling to me. Thanks for the chance! I have tried most of Ellen’s lovely fragrances, but not Mardi Gras.

8. When you mentioned honey my mind travelled to a perfume I tried recently- Kiste by Slumberhouse. It is so disturbing that I almost don’t wear it out of the house, but I keep sniffing it.

10. Hi Azar! What fun! Hmm, I’m thinking of vintage Bal a Versailles as a “parfum de puta”, but gosh it’s been a long time since I sniffed it. I’m sure there’s must be some drifting along in The Sample Sea.
    I haven’t tried any of Olympic Orchids stuff, although I’ve been curious. Mardi Gras sounds fantastic.

      I hope this post helps you find the “parfum de puta” of your dreams! Lots of good suggestions have popped up. The biggest issue with all of these “connectors” is when to wear them. Personally I love using Version #1, Mardi Gras and Tabu when I go to the grocery store :)!

I’ve not tried Mardi Gras, but I’ve tried four perfumes from The Devil Scents series and California Chocolate (smells like real bitter chocolate, not that cacao mild drink note with milk in most of “chocolate” perfumes). It’s very deep and beautiful scents, especially DEV #1: Foreplay which I like the most.
    My favorite “parfum de puta” are Tuscan Leather and Ysatis))

16. I follow by email. I guess my best puta scents are vintage BaV, Femme, and L’Air de Rien – those are all kind of “been romping in the sheets” fragrances, aren’t they? I haven’t smelled Mardi Gras, but I love Ellen’s Olympic Amber and Seattle Chocolate. Thanks for the draw.

      If you like these two OO scents I’m sure that Mardi Gras will appeal. BaV is a definite romp but I have only heard about L’Air de Rien and not experienced it (I think). There may be a little decant, as Holly puts it, “floating in the sample sea”. I need to be more organized. And yes, of course, you are IN!

20. Hi Azar!! What a coincidence, I was just mentioning this one in a comment about Gentlewoman (*not* that they’re similar) and am working on finishing up my review of it. I don’t get too much honey out of it (thankfully, as honey appears to be a note I cannot handle), but I do get some sex-charged musk. I really like it. I’m insanely curious about your #1 version, but DNEM as I have a 5ml of Mardi Gras. I’d love to get my hands on some more Olympic Orchids scents to try eventually though!

21. I have not yet tried Mardi Gras, but both it and Version 1 sound wonderful. I wore Tabu for most of my misspent youth; Lalique Le Parfum is my current “Hello, Sailor!” scent. I follow with Bloglovin.

      • Not really skanky, just a very loud, warm, vanilla with a just-this-side-of-bearable amount of pink pepper. Its obviousness pushes it into the trashy category for me, although worn at home, it can be downright cozy.

      • Yes, Laurels! You are absolutely right! What seems to push a fragrance into the trashy category is the obvious and the brazen. For me it is often a well worn synthetic note that does the trick 😉

22. Hi, I follow via email subscription and am quite firmly in the “naturals” camp but am venturing out into mixed-media and niche. Haven’t tried anything from Olympic Orchids but have read great things ☺. My mum wore Tabu a lot back in the day and I really loved it but fear I wouldn’t like it so much now. I’m intrigued about both Mardi Gras and Version 1 and would be delighted to experience them together with the generous mystery sample . Thanks for the opportunity ☺

26. Wow! What a treat to find this blog!! I was doing some research on opopanax and followed the trail to this blog. I love exploring perfumes and discovering new realms of olfactory seduction.

    The posts here are most interesting and I feel I have found a new clan to hang with. The Mardi Gras looks enticing and I am looking forward to discovering more of its seductive powers.

27. Hmmm, I don’t have a parfum de puta. I recently tried a ‘Skank’ sample set, and didn’t seem to get much of the skank! This post inspired me to try them again, and I don’t know why, but suddenly there was skank! It could be that I didn’t know what I was smelling, as that sample set was my first, or the fact that it was 30° outside at the time and my nose was full of woodsmoke. Either way, this time I was bowled over by Rochas Femme and to a much lesser extent Worth Courtesan. I follow via email. Thanks for the fun and the opportunity!

      • Well, there is Jicky, jean Despres Bal aVarsailles, L’air de Rien, Oud Cuir d’Arabie, (I get strong leather and barnyard, this one packs a wallop as well, and is the only one I didn’t care for.) NR Musc for Her, Amaranthine, MKK, Party in Manhattan, the Femme and the Courtesan.

        The PiM, and Femme have a ‘I’ve been up all night and had a really good time’ kind of sweaty smell to them. The others don’t really give me anything in the skank department. Even the MKK, and I think I read that some people won’t even leave the house wearing that!

28. Hi Mom – I follow by email and twitter. I’ve never really thought about a “parfum de puta”. I think my taste in perfume is usually fresh/floral/fruity… doesn’t seem very skanky LOL! Sometimes I think I have a teenager’s taste in perfume. BUT I do have that bottle of Queen by Queen Latifah that I wear from time to time. That’s definitely more sensuous!

      Yes, you do tend to favor the “fresher” fragrances. You might want to jump into a few putas, though, just for fun. You could try a “skanky” sample set (see Winterlude’s comment) or I can send you some of mine. Also, since you sometimes wear Queen Latifah, you might like Nicole Ritchie, created by the same perfumer, Steve Demercado. NR seems to have some of the same elements as QL but put together with a much lighter hand. The NR bottle is pretty too. Re light and fresh: There are a couple of light fresh scents that are so light and fresh as to be almost invisible. I am referring to the fragrances by Jennifer Aniston. I have an interesting story to tell about those two and may post it next time around here on APJ. Oh yes, you are so IN this draw!
