I meant to have this review out to you by last weekend but stuff got in the way. Sorry. As you know I’m madly in love with Pierre Guillaume so you’ll be getting a review coloured by my adoration.
I know, it’s rude how gorgeous he is. My experience of one afternoon was that in life he is sweet as pie, funny, charming and naughty. There is a brilliance to him that I found quite dazzling. he quickly put me at my ease and we talked for a while. Yes, besotted.

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Sandalwood, vetiver, moss, spicy mint, nutmeg, cardamom, coconut milk, lemon zest
The Parfumerie Generale site gives an ingredient list: Alcohol, Parfum (Fragrance), Aqua (Water), Limonene, Linalool, Citronellol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Coumarin, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol.
Chai! I smell chai, in the pot being made by my last partners maid in Gurgaon, just outside New Delhi, India. Sweet, milky, spicy and warming but with a green facet that gives it a papery rasp and picks Indian Wood up. Interestingly I am finding it very hard to parse the notes, though I’m sure someone better at that particular trick could do it, and after a couple of wears I’m finding myself thinking of Indian Wood in the opening as chai and then Indian Wood. A smell unto itself.
Yes, as Pierre’s way is, this is a sweet fragrance. Not sugar sweet though. His sweetness comes from the sweetness of milky woods, piquant spices and the warm memories of cooking with Mum.
Through the heart Indian Wood dries out and becomes a solid, smooth, resinous and sheer cloak. I feel wrapped safely in a cocoon of softest wool that is spiderweb light yet warming and tough.
If you are already a fan of Pierre Guillaume’s work then you’ll love this new warmer and spicier extension on Harmatan Noir from 2006. If you don’t like his style then I can’t imagine Indian Wood winning you over, though I have been wrong before…..

I follow via email. I own a few PG fragrances–Aomassai and L’Ombre Fauve are favorites–and I know I’ve tried Harmatan Noir at some point and liked it. I think it’s interesting that he updates older perfumes–the new Bouquet Massai is a new take on Aomassai, for instance–and I’m looking forward to trying this one.

I love PG and have several of his scents: Ombre Fauve, Aomassai, Coze, L’Oiseau de Nuit and Liqueur Charnelle. Coze is probably my favorite although I love them all. I follow by email. Thanks!

Very handsome man and some lovely perfumes. I do like L’eau de Circe, Esparta and Bouquet Massai. Therefore i know i would like to try Indian wood please! In the UK, follow by email and thanks for the chance.

Portia! Just finished reading my APJ email, and you took the words right out of my mouth! EXACTLY how I feel about PG (and Pierre too, I cannot lie. The man is positively dreamy!) I’ve been waiting for this one to drop and can’t wait to sniff it. I LOVE so many PG’s, but if I had to choose I’d say that Un Crime Exotique, that perennial unicorn, would be the one. I was fortunate enough to find a full bottle in Scandanavia to purchase, so my quest is fulfilled! xoxo

We all love Monsieur Pierre, you know!
But I should add – I love all of his creations except for Bois de Copaiba. Whenever I wear a scent from PG numbered line, or Huitieme Art, or Phaedon, I am complimented extensively!!! I do have a soft spot for Felanilla, Drama Nuui, Brulure de Rose, and Aomassai, and I am more than eager to try the new versions of all the reformulated fragrance numbers!

After the first picture of P. Guillaume I couldn’t read any furter, had to scroll up several times…what was the question??? Ah yes, favourite scent by P. Guillaume 😀 Since his line is huge, I have tried only a small part of it and I liked most of them, but the best so far is Grand Siecle Intense. I think he does the bitter citrus so good. For a long time I want to try Bois Naufrage but somehow can’t find a sample. Indian Wood sounds lovely – wood, spices and a touch of green…mmmm…

I follow by email. I have never tried nay of his fragrances but I would love to. This one sounds right up my ally. I love creamy woods – Lubin’s Korrigan is fav of mine and I imagine this to be similar but more spicy.
