Heya Mass-tige Frag Hags,
Last week Ainslie Walker & I had a day out together seeing the Map Of The Heart range, catching up with Bronwyn of Gascoigne & King Candles (where I did some Christmas shopping) and seeing our mate Paige at Libertine Parfumerie. Paige took half an hour out of her extremely busy day to show us the newest stuff in store. There was quite a bit but two particularly stood out for me as excellent.

Bracken Man by Olivier Cresp + Fabrice Pellegrin for Amouage 2016
Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, lemon, cypress, lavender, nutmeg, cloves
Heart: Geranium, sandalwood, cedar, cinnamon
Base: Patchouli, musk
A old school swirl of citrus & herbs leads you into a plush spiced lavender that grows creamier and more comfortable as it wears. If Don Draper from Mad Men could wear something made today that is totally reminiscent of yesteryear but done with a depth and finesse not seen back then I reckon he would choose Bracken Man. It skips all the sweet tropes of the style and gives me dry, warm stylised macho-ness. I would follow someone wearing this in the street or a mall just to revel in the sillage. MMMM

Libertine gives these featured accords:
Top: Vanilla, jasmine
Heart: Neroli essence, tonka bean
Base: Ambroxan
When I first spied Mmmm… I was ready to hate it instantly because of the stupid name and the pink on the bottle which reminds me of cough syrup. BLEAUGH!
Silly me, it’s bloody fun and fabulous. The vanilla that opens is headily offset by the clean jasmine and warm tonka. Ambrosian has its flirty now you smell me, now you don’t game of hide & seek so sometimes I’m smelling bakery and others sweaty love fest bodies. Super nice work JHaG.

Well. I bought a bottle of Lyric but wish I’d bought Epic. I love Interlude (Woman, BTW), but truely adore desert island Sunshine. My fave JHAG is Midnight Oud, which means it’s probably not all that oudy…email

My favorite Amouage? Geez. I guess it would be Epic, but Memoir and Jub 25 would be close runners up and I love Ubar and Gold when I’m in the right mood. My favorite JHAG is easier since Gentlewoman is the only one I have liked much. Haven’t sampled them all, though.

I follow by email. My favorite from Amouage is Interlude, of which I have a sample and hope to get a FB. I’ve never liked honey that much, but this one just does it for me. That’s how you know a well-made scent.

Amouage is one of my most favorite brands: I love, own and wear Ubar, Gold, Dia, Lyric, Memoir and Epic. Beloved is nice but probably won’t go beyond the decant I have.
From JHAG I have just a couple of decants for the scents that I like – Miss Charming and Calamity J. I’m not sure if I ever need more but we’ll see.

I remember when I trialled my first JHAG many years ago. I still keep Lady Vengeance and Citizen Queen on my dresser. I always get compliments when wearing CQ, so I guess it agrees with me, and I wear LV for myself whilst swanning around at home! Followed you by email for ages, love all your posts. x

I’ve only tried one fragrance from JHAG – Calamity J – and none from Amouage, so I guess that makes Calamity J my favourite!

It is possible that I am too late, but if I am not, I follow by e-mail. My favorite JHAG is Miss Charming! I think my favorite Amouage might be Sunshine? Though I’ve yet to fall in love with something of theirs.
