Hello Fellow Fumies,
Once a week here on Australian Perfume Junkies we have a Question, an idea purloined from Olfactoria’s Travels. Everyone gets to chime in with an answer, chat with other responders and it is generally a fun event each week. Taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
The idea is you’ll see it on the weekend or chime in through the week. Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Over 100 responses I will draw a $10 Surrender To Chance Gift Card.
Over 200 responses I will draw a $20 Surrender To Chance Gift Card.
Comment purposefully on yours or anothers comment & you’ll have a chance, random.org will draw on Friday.
Last Weeks Winner: $10 Surrender To Chance Gift Card Lillibet

Have you looked at the prices on Andy’s site? They’re much cheaper than Australian retailers. Plus, free postage!

D, you can’t buy full bottles and ship to Oz from Andy’s site. Samples and soaps only. Sad, sad face.

Does Andy Tauer make good long lasting soaps? Have you bought any , Kate?

Hey SA, yes I have bought Andy’s soaps. Gorgeous scents and long lasting. Loads better value than the Dior soaps I bought. Sana gas actually nagged me a few times to get more if Andy’s soaps. They are transparent glycerine.

Well, it’s a delicate BWF, if such a contradiction in terms exists – a true wisteria and narcissus, with jasmine and (I think) honeysuckle. It could be too much, but the sillage is not huge. I love it and have had testers and decants, but need to commit to a FB.

Chanel Eau de Cologne
Chanel Eau de Cologne is a cheat for a To-Buy list. I adore it but can’t imagine spending for a full bottle. It is the most perfect eau de Cologne though. I have used up several decants. The other four I would definitely like to have full bottles and belive I would wear them often.
I try not to wish for much, I feel I’ve gone a few bottles too far already. There are always samples and decants to keep the wishing fun. I’m waiting for samples of MEM and You or Someone Like You to arrive in the mail. Exciting!

Hi Tiffanie,
How hard is it to justify?! I pretty much do the same logic regarding full bottles. Would you wear the Chanel Cologne during winter etc? Or summer only? My most favoured scents are those I get more milage from.

I wear colognes all year round, they are among my favorites. Though I already have colognes I adore (Cologne du 68, Eau de Guerlain, and 4711 are a few), I know if I ever use those up and someday feel ready to buy a bottle of Chanel EdC I will enjoy it without regret. 🙂

OMG! 😱 How brilliant is Cologne du 68?! People rave about it and I gave it no thought. Got a bottle cheap and it BLEW ME AWAY! The only cologne I can wear any time.

Like many of you, I keep a list. Well, I did. Until recently. I have a functional list and a unicorn list. There is also a back up bottle list. Here’s the functional list:
* Le Jardin Retrouve – Tuberose Trianon
* Dusita – any!
* Chanel – Egoiste
* Tauer – Carillon Pour Ange
* Teo Cabanel – Barkhane
I notice that Portia’s list is alphabetised. And has colours for ‘gone off’ etc. I alphabetise the house and then order under the house according to ‘wantability’. Then I highlight based on price, availabilty and how often I’d feasibly wear it. Ok…detail overload.
LikeLike
What are the qualifications for the Unicorn list Kate?
LikeLike
Largely unobtainable. Scents that are once in a lifetime opportunity and waaaay out of my price range, if still available from vintage sellers.
LikeLike
Kate my list is really just a list of emotionally-based wants usually from first impressions where things float up to the top (or drift down) according to how often I find myself reaching for them and whether the love lasts through susequent wearings (rationallty kicking in) and the price certainly plays into that.
Amouage Bracken Woman is a big want right now but I’m toying with whether it would be better to get a decant or more samples instead of a FB. Could have 2-3 others on my list for that price with a decant or sample of BW…decisions decisions…
