Hi APJ,

I see these SOTD (Scent Of The Day) threads all the time on Facebook and they are really good conversation generators.

SOTD 30 October – 5 November 2017

The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc.

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Over 100 responses I will draw a Scent Sample Pack (from my collection)
This week:
Guerlain Mitsouko EdT
Pharrell Williams Girl
The Different Company Oriental Lounge
Vintage Fendi original
Vintage YSL Opium EdT
Comment purposefully on yours or anothers comment & you’ll have a chance, random.org will draw on Sunday.

Go To It Crew.

  1. My SOTD is Cuir de Lancôme. Leather is a note that I like but don’t crave, so I only have samples of leather- forward scents.

    • Hi there MmkInPA
I liked CdL very much but always found myself reaching for other leathers so I moved them along to homes where they are dearly loved.

  2. My SOTD is George by Jardins d’Ecrivains. I have three samples and may purchase a bottle in the future. (I’m on a no-buy at the moment… *sigh*)

    • Hey Fanny,
Aren’t No-Buys torment? It is exciting though when we finally unleash though. How long is your No-Buy lasting?

      • Er… Not long it seems, when a good deal comes along. I have just this minute been offered a full second hand bottle of Jubilation woman for a third of the price. I’m afraid I cannot let it pass.

        *blush* 😀

  3. Happy Monday folks. My SOTD is Narciso Poudree. Very warm and snuggly. I’d love to try that Cuir de Lancome but it’s very hard to find at a reasonable price, so I won’t buy unsniffed. I’d really like to try some leather frags, the only one I’ve tried is Daim Blonde and it’s a bit too fleeting for me.

    • Casieflower,
Have a go at Bottega Venetta or Cuir d’Ange for supple leathers. Very wearable and gorgeous.

    • Hey CM,
Congratulations! Emptying a decant or bottle is amazing.
How are the side by side going?

  5. I set my alarm for an hour later. No idea why. So, I was in such a panic to get out the door and managed only to be 30 minutes late. I didn’t get to put on any fragrance. 😦 boo hiss

  6. Today I discovered a teensy drop of Chanel Cuir de Russie parfum in my sample box. I loved it more than I remember from previous wearings. Was it my mood, the weather?
    Anyway, it was lovely!

  7. My scent of the day is costume national 21. It’s working great for this autumn days with a little bit of rains and cold temperatures.

  8. Today I am wearing my one and only ‘celebrity’ fragrance, which is Katy Perry “Killer Queen”. I rescued a rollerball out of a bargain bin at Kohls for $5 last year and paid for it with one of their $5 freebie coupons. Quite a coup as it is surprisingly good, I think. A little louder than my usual taste, but still perfect for a cold day in a fuzzy purple sweater!

  9. Monday I was in Sensuous Noir by Estee Lauder, for although the calendar says it’s nearly Summer, Winter is still hanging around!!!
Sitting at my computer at 7am on Tuesday morning, it seems I’m in for another cold day so I’ll be snuggling up in Theorema.

  10. Happy Halloween all
Today I’m wearing Dior Eau Sauvage edp from a decant sent by a generous friend.
I usually favour much sweeter scents but I’m really feeling this one !
A few of the guys at work have complimented me on it too, not realizing it was a fragrance marketed towards men.

  11. To work I wore Rose Nacre du Dessert, and boy was it a long day. Happy to be home now and spritzed Bijou Romantique. Some say BR is like Shalimar, which I don’t really get.

  12. First time wearing Stash today, and while I’m no expert, I can see where the love for this comes from.
I think I will really love this in winter; I’m thinking whiskey, woollens and burning wood.
So sorry I missed you last night, Portia xx.

  13. On Monday I wore Tom Ford Arabian Wood. I can’t understand how I manage to pick those of TF’s perfumes that get discounted: is my taste that weird?

  14. What else would I be wearing on this Halloween (aka the 500th Anniver5sary of the Reformation) Day but Ormonde Jayne Woman?

  15. Wearing my Halloween scent — the original Must de Cartier.
I see it as a “witchy” scent.
Sprays on an orange colour (literally)! Lots of galbanum, leather and civet with some sweetness, like a little bit of Halloween candy. Turin describes it as stale Russian chocolate and gives it one star. Boo! In both senses.

  16. Hermès Monsieur Li for a refreshing burst of oily glam. It fits well with our cloudy but warm day here in Sydney.

  17. In honour of the Saturday question, I wore Guerlain on Monday: L’Heure Bleue. Yesterday I wore YSL Jazz; still trying to empty that bottle. Today it was HdP’s 1725.

  18. From left field – SOTD is a sample of 4160 Tuesdays’ Rhubarb and Custard. I like it a lot and the dog is following me around obviously thinking I smell like pudding. Vanilla-ry and then the rhubarb note which is long-lasting, giving it a kick, just like real rhubarb and custard.

  19. Started off in Chergui. Later on went with SJP Stash from a gift set I found at Marshall’s in the men’s shelves – super cheap! (Includes the Elixir!)

  20. I am having one of those weeks in which I have to sniff myself hard to remember what I am wearing. Today was “sniff sniff” Dear Polly by Vilhelm Parfums. It’s like a peppery smokey tea, a little oddballish but fun.

Now I am going to take a shower and spray myself wildly with something rich and sleep inducing. What shall it be?

  21. L’Heure Bleue today, for a little grownup pizazz to deal with my first PhD supervision meeting in a year (and a full day of day-job work too). I love my supervisors, but, it’s a little scary going back to the “and when can you get a draft chapter to us?” questions. LHB did the job. It’s always been one of those scents that makes me sit up straighter and talk more clearly, even though it’s incredible *comfortable*.

Yesterday was Cuir de Russie–though I didn’t wear enough–and Tuesday was CDG2 Man.

It’s part time, so still working full time at the same time! (all those “times” and never enough time. ha! )
I’m pretty excited to be re-starting, though. Let’s hope I can sustain that for the next 2 and a half years…
