Hello Fellow Fumies,

Every Saturday we have a Question, an idea purloined from Olfactoria’s Travels. Everyone gets to chime in with an answer, chat with other responders and it is a fun event each week. Taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

The idea is you’ll see it on the weekend or chime in through the week. Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Over 100 responses I will draw a $10 Surrender To Chance Gift Card.
Over 200 responses I will draw a $20 Surrender To Chance Gift Card.
Comment purposefully on yours or anothers comment & you’ll have a chance, random.org will draw on Friday.

Saturday Question:

What Scented Gift Are You Hoping For Under The Tree

It’s Christmas (and many other giving times) right now. Aside from our religious or secular beliefs we can all pretend that these times are about giving but seriously, it’s all about what you get to open. Come ON! Admit it. Even if only to us. We won’t judge. We are all greedy AF too. Well maybe not that extreme but wouldn’t it be nice to get exactly what you dream of for once?

So here’s your chance at a fantasy gift receiving. What do you get? Imagine yourself unwrapping it, the sheer incredulity that your crew got it SO right.

So let’s all give our one true hearts wish for fragrant gifts. Who knows, maybe they’re reading…..

My Answer:

Aedes de Venustas Eau de Parfum Aedes de Venustas FragranticaFragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Rhubarb, vetiver, red berries, tomato leaf, incense, green apple, hazelnut, honeysuckle

The original Aedes de Venustas fragrance. In the purple bottle. I’ve wanted it since it was first talked about on the blogs and for some reason I never bought it. It was a glorious revelation when released, we all swooned. The bottle, the scent, everything was just right. To have this under the tree would be un-freaking-believable.

My Saturday Question to you is:

What Scented Gift Are You Hoping For Under The Tree

  1. ATM the frag I wont most under my tree is Tauer L’Air du Desert Morocain. Never tried it but the review are pretty solid & I like the note breakdown plus anything with the description of “Inspired by Saharan desert in the moonlight, a moroccan night” surely cant be anything but beautiful. Ive been good Santa 🎅

    • I had never tried L’air du desert marocain, but since it gets to much love from so many people I ordered a mini bottle from the Tauer website. It is supremely beautiful. If you don’t get a bottle as a gift, do buy yourself a sample or a mini. I wish I had tried it years ago. Reading your comment now made me want to smell it so I just put some on my wrist. It is heavenly on this cold, sunny winter’s day. This is the scent of the holidays for me this year.

  2. Santa has already promised a bottle of Papillon Artisan Perfumes’ Dryad! I have been SO GOOD, I haven’t even peeked! Santa also stopped by the Jo Loves boutique in London to redeem last year’s gift, a certificate for a full bottle that came with her discovery set. It is sitting under the Christmas tree! Santa doesn’t yet know that he himself is getting a FB of Lutens’ Vitriol d”Oeillet.

  3. Under the tree is Bottega Veneta from my boys but I’d love Santa to bring me Creed Vanisia or Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land

  4. My perfect gift would be a bottle of Vero’s Rozy EdP, I’ve had it on my wish list forever now!
My Santa list would also include Zoologist Camel, Solstice Scents Estate Amber, and a giant bottle of Chanel Coromandel EdP. 🙂

  5. I already bought something (not fragrance) which counts as my Christmas present, so there won’t be anything special under the tree – but if I were asking Santa for fragrance, I’d want Rubj or Mito extrait. I like to give Santa a little leeway so it’s both exactly what I want and yet a surprise 🙂

    • On rereading, the above sounds like I think I’m Tiny Tim – so very not the case. It won’t be under the tree because I already have it – it’s a most beautiful fountain pen, my other obsession. Santa has already been good to me!

  6. I know it isn’t the most popular perfume right now but I would love to get Serge Lutens Dent de Lait. Other “little” stocking stuffers would be Sonoma Scent Studio’s Bee’s Bliss, Naomi Goodsir’s Or du Serail AND Cuir Velours, and throw in some Vero Profumo Naja. You just reminded me that I also “need” the Aedes de Venustas– that’s been on my radar. If Santa was an extraordinarily rich Santa he’d throw in some Superstitious. Okay. That’s a pretty big list for Santa and he may think I’m “naughty greedy.” Sigh. Bee’s Bliss. Close to home and shipping time would make it, and I really like Laurie. I’m going to go find Santa now…

  7. I don’t really think I’ll get perfume this year, since earlier years not all bottles have been exactly to my liking!

That Aedes bottle is among my top 5 “want full bottle!”, but Dior Ambre Nuit would be even more welcome at Christmas. Just because it is cold outside and amber suits the winter.

More realistically I will get l’Occitaine shower oil, hand creams and soap or Korres body products. If Santa was especailly generous he would swap the cheaper creams for one of those expensive tubes of Malle’s iris scented hand cream. Not happening, since we try not to spend too much on presents, even within the Family.

  8. I did a spot of self-santaing, by signing myself up for six months of Bloom’s nose club. Which means for each of the next few months, I get two 10ml decants of my choice from their stock. So I have all sorts of scented gifts ahead of me, and the fun of pondering and deciding, too.

But you know, if someone wants to give me a ticket to Paris and a voucher to buy a whacking great big bottle of Mitzah while I’m there… I wouldn’t be saying no.

      • Love that you did that! We’ve not been to Paris for, wow, many many many years now. Perhaps we are overdue for a trip. (I was walking through St Pancras last week, and if I’d had my passport, it would have been awfully hard not to stow away on a eurostar. A much nicer way to travel than flying.)

  9. It would be lovely to get a bottle of Lubin Kismet. It won’t happen but I think I might get some luxury soaps and body lotions which will make me just as happy.

  10. I have been sternly informed by Santa there will be no perfume gifts this year. However, in my dreams I’d love to find a bottle of Savoy Steam ,or the d/c Ostrata.
I’d not say no to a 1970s bottle of Miss Dior in the Hound’s-tooth packaging, either.

  11. I have no expectation of perfumed gifts because my perfume shelf is already quite full. I did buy for myself just a half-ounce of a little something-something citrus and green to scratch the perfume itch. Will not wear it until after the holidays when I need a fragrant pick me up.

But a girl can dream, so I must agree that the original Aedes de Venustus and their Pelargonium are on my mind quite a lot lately. And the new Zoologist Camel scent others have mentioned here feels perfect for this time of year. I’ve also recently contemplated the purchase of a new jar of Chanel No. 5 body cream. Yummy.

Mister Santa, bring me some toys! Here’s hoping the holidays bring many happy surprises to all good (and naughty!) perfumistas everywhere.
