Hi APJ,
I see these SOTD (Scent Of The Day) threads all the time on Facebook and they are really good conversation generators.
SOTD 19 February – 25 February 2018
The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc.
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Over 100 responses I will draw a Scent Sample Pack (from my collection)
This week:
- Annick Goutal Sables
- Vintage Fendi original
- Vintage Caron Infini PdT
- Tom Ford Ombre de Hyacinth
- Creed Iris Tubereuse
Comment purposefully on yours or anothers comment & you’ll have a chance, random.org will draw on Sunday.
Last Weeks WINNER: NEVA

I have been wearing Calandre over the last 2 days. I didn’t realize it is so beautiful and so timeless. And it is very unisex by today’s standards. While its similarities to Rive Gauche are well known (Calandre came first), it also seems like a distant relative of Madame Rochas if my memory is serving me well.

Yesterday I wore Wrappings by Clinique….a bright and clear green scent. I got a decent 4 hours ,before it had disappeared. I then used a couple samples; on left wrist, the last of my Teone Bodhi and the right wrist Chanel 18.
A side note; My husband asked me to choose his Monday SOTD…… He was wafting the vintage Jules.. and I was in heaven. For bed I wore some Yardley’s lavender to assist sleep.

I have around 12-14 samples of Byredo so I am going to commit to sampling them all. Today is Pulp which is perfect as we are expecting unseasonable warm weather (sadly not to stay, tomorrow it dips back down again). Something about this reminds me of Prescriptives Calyx (the original from the mid 1980s which was my summer go to for eight years). I find it amazing that for every perfume there is a twin or sister or cousin……something similar enough to scratch an itch….which works well when certain fragrances become discontinued.

It’s bugging me though, it is similar to something else and I can’t think what it is. I’m glad to have it to try but don’t need a full bottle. NR are bringing out Narciso Rouge soon, if not already. The bottle, wow😍

I have tried one or several of the NRs but the bottles/names are so confusing that I don’t quite know which ones I have or haven’t tried. Are they all focused on the sweet musk? because that is what I remember from what I sampled thus far.

The cool change blew in YAY for cooler weather so I broke out the Goldfield & Banks samples this morning. I’ve got Desert Rosewood on one arm and Blue Cypress on the other.
Desert Rosewood is gorgeous so far, rich and a little spicy with a hint of fruit and vanilla.
Blue Cypress is…unexpected…there’s an aquatic note amongst the cypress trees. Not like Bracken Woman or L’Ombre Dans L’Eau but a…beachy isn’t right…nearly swampy like Un Jardin sur le Nil…but fresher? I’m not describing it very well. Looking at the card it’s inspired by Kakadu ao that makes sense. All the same it’s broken my brain a bit because it isn’t a combo I’ve encounted before. Waiting to see how it develops.

Lillibet.. do you reside in Melbourne? Here in Ballarat, I was eagerly hoping for a cool change. No such luck. Still humid and dry.9.30 Am I’m sitting at my laptop, surrounded by samples in various sizes, predominantly 1ml, in various packaging. There are so many choices!!!
However, the winner today is “Fetische” by Mark Evans. I unexpectedly have the weekend off. Whooo Hoooooo

Hey Saffie I took your advice from above and cracked open a nice bottle of red, had a squirt of Opium and settled in on the couch in front of a toasty fire. Happy days! I hope you do something nice to celebrate your anniversary, especially since you’re not working. Wohoo.

Rozy Voile, from a sample. Wore it last night, and wearing it again today because it’s magnificent. I thought the exuberance and raw emotion of it might help push me out of a sorrow-funk I’m sitting in. (For a few days I’ve been getting backwashes of grief from my father’s death last year.)
Snarl, however, thinks it smells “medicinal”. Cheers, darling. It’s ok, though, he’ll keep hugging me even if he thinks I smell like cough syrup.

I can sympathise with you, sometimes the loss really hits you in the gut, and without warning. I hope you can shake off your funk soon. You can always complain to us!

Shaal Nur from a rather old decant. I thought I’d managed to persuade myself that I didn’t need a full bottle but now I’m not so sure. Why oh why is it happening to me again?!

I’m eearing Tauer Noontide Petals today. The top notes are the best part of it IMO, but this one moves very quickly to the base notes. Less of a commitment than many of Andy’s other scents and easier to wear at any time, very bright scent.

Afternoon everybody, it’s cold but the sun is beaming and not a cloud in sight. SSS Equestrian today. Beautiful as are all of Laurie’s creations. She is a mega-talent in my eyes. I would like the hay note to be a bit stronger though.
