Hi APJ,
I see these SOTD (Scent Of The Day) threads all the time on Facebook and they are really good conversation generators.
SOTD 26 February – 4 March 2018
The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc.
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

I presume you’ve tried Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire’s? Black Perfecto is a almondy rose maquerading as an almond cherry confection, and the La Petite Robe Noire EdP IS an almond cherry macaron…

yes, I have indeed tried Black Perfecto…my skin amped up the cherry and it was a bit like cherry cough syrup with minimal almond (absolutely delicious , though….I went through my decant rather quickly)…I will look into the La Petite Robe Noire lotion…although I could probably just go with the Jergens and save money-LOL!

Bois des Iles EDT as we head back into another freeze (well, a British type of freeze, which is frankly laughable compared to the real cold elsewhere.) I was tempted to go full whack no prisoners taken ambery goodness, but then remembered that the office is airless, and currently overheated by people with heaters under their desks which makes it godawful stuffy.
(And makes me grumpy, when someone is sitting in a sleeveless shirt complaining about the cold, and whacking the heating on rather than a jumper. GRR!

Testing St Clair Scent First Cut….Marzipan’s wonky nose interpretation:
Some sort of sunny yellow lemon citrus (bergamot?) paired with a sweet floral suede-ish lavender (must be lavender absolute which smells different from regular lavender…it is the same type of lavender used in HG Voyage which gives it that suede effect) and perhaps vanilla then segues into soft honeyed hay that has an every so slightly animalic edge and the drydown is sweet florals. It is a diaphanous and gorgeous scent that sits relatively close to my skin. However, I have a dabber so I am wondering how this would present if sprayed liberally?
Y’all need to talk me out of buying a full bottle!!!!!

When my old father bought me perfume in Vienna he got 3 niche samples for me and a few for himself. Thanks, Saffyishere. I don’t know. Hope not too long a wait. It’s government so who knows? One place took eight months to get the offer to me – waiting for all the signatures & approvals. I politely informed them that I had found another role and had been working for over seven months!
Congratulations on your win! xx

Back to testing today…..Carven Le Parfum….very pretty sweet pea….smells clean, floral and classy. Later I am going to add First Cut to the mix (yes, I am still obsessing over St Clair Scents)….and when I get to work I will do the walk through the cloud of perfume with my big bottle of Nocturnes de Caron.

You know I have a birthday coming up next month and then there is mother’s day…will have to plant the idea in the younger marzipans’ heads that mom needs a new bottle of perfume from St Clair Scents…although with all the bottles floating around the house they may indeed look at me cross eyed!

After a few days of Dzing in the cold, today I switched to SL Jeux de Peau. Recently since the beginning of this cold I feel the need for comfort, which means I eat cookies and chocolate more than usual. I thought a gourmand perfume with edible quality would comfort me instead. I smell like slightly burnt pralines 🙂

Almost wore Ostara today, in an effort to deny the deep freeze. And then it started snowing again, so I went with Cuir de Russie instead. The full luxe version: old-old-vintage extrait. Damn, but I smell gooooooood.

You DO smell good….although Ostara would have been equally as good.

Jumping in at the end of the work week to say that with the current hard slushy rain falling and another “bomb cyclone” threatened for later today, I have thrown all caution to the winds and am wearing—sparingly, mind you—Musc Tonkin, in the original skankilicious formulation. Three small sprays, then wrists tapped to the sides-of-the-throat sprays, and then wrists to elbows. I smell fine!

Seville a l’Aube and Chergui, beautiful scent selections! I chose to wear Chanel No 19 Poudre today. March in Colorado is either winter snow storm or warm windy spring day. Today feels like a spring day which inspired my selection, as well as the fact I haven’t worn this fragrance in forever.

Had a busy day out walking, or should that be trudging, and playing in the snow. SOTB Fougere Bengale courtesy of our very own fairy dragmother, Portia. Now I approached this with slight trepidation because lavender😬
But It’s only gorgeous and that’s the truth. Tobacco and hay put the lavender firmly in its place. It’s very airy considering the notes it packs. So this is aimed at men, is it? Yeah well don’t let that fool you, it’s totally unisex. So glad I get a chance to give this a good wearing. It will be on tomorrow again!

Possible long post alert 😆 A late afternoon post – lazy day today as a late night last night, hitting the Fringe, with the awesome but discontinued L’art Vanille Absolument. Great show but a very rude table next to us talking while people singing and constantly being in their phones – I mean really – stay home!
Right now, left arm CB I Hate Patchouli empire – super interesting scent. Their website says it’s a blend of five natural patchouli’s. It’s very woody and oakmossy. And dirty. earthy is probably the better word to use. Montale Santal Wood on the right – nothing amazing. Which is good coz I probably have enough Montale love happening in my collection anyway 😉

With the cold has come clear weather, so at least we get some light during the day now. Hopefully spring will come in 2-3 weeks time. Cannot wait to wear Ostara when it gets a little warmer! No storm or extra snow here thankfully!

Got my bottle of Cuir Amethyste. It is indeed very close to Daim Blond, or so it seems. I expected more violets but maybe I need to give it some more time to recover after the long way from Moscow?
There is one thing, though, that spoilt my joy: I bought a 50 ml bottle, the seller told me that it was brand new, but I can see that at least 15 ml are missing. Does it happen to Armani Prive bottles, can they somehow evaporate over time?

Wore Lubin’s Gin Fizz today for Dad’s party. Love the feeling of drifting around in my iwn golden cloud of champagne bubbles. Even though I was catering/hosting its a frag that feels like you’re a decadant socialite with others to do that plebeian stuff for you. Anyway everyone seemed to have a good time and plenty to eat and Mum & Dad were happy which was the main thing. Just got back home and unloaded the car and now I’m putting my feet up.
Would quite like to change things up and put on something else now…maybe something fruity like Le Jardine Mediterrinee or Eau de Rhubarbe Ecalarte but there is a small black and white cat determinedly sitting on my lap so might have to wait lol.

Drained the last drops of my sample of Rozy Voile, and luxuriated in it all day while stomping about the city in the snow (up till the point in the evening–unconnected to scents or snow–where I got a brutal migraine.) Today was Bois d’encens to start with, but I need to find something else because it’s GONE. Down to a faint echo in two hours. Damn it. It usually lasts better on me than that.

Cardinal is a very different vibe and too damn airy for my liking, so it’s not that. My go-to incense is CDG2Man, which I love, with its snuffed out candle note, but I know you wear that too. I’ve just bagged a sample of Unum Lavs, so, maybe… but the first sniff is *very* austere. I’ve not tried the others from their incense range, except Avignon, which was an almost.
Once I’ve been to Paris and got my beak into a bell jar of Encens et Lavande I’ll report back on that. I have high hopes!
