Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 5 March – 11 March 2018
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

Testing Exultant…reads very dry and masculine on my skin.
Later I will touch up with St. Clair Scents First Cut because lord only knows I need me some sunshine, honeyed hay and smoooooth lavender about now. My place of employment has been closed since Friday due to lack of power, downed trees and overall dangerous conditions due to the blizzard. Some folks in my area have been out of power since Friday and are not expecting a return until Tuesday….just in time for the next storm which arrives Tuesday night into Thursday morning….talk about March roaring like a lion…..First Cut will mentally put me in a Spring frame of mind 🙂
LikeLike
Hey CM,
Exultat is so freaking good. Very cold incense, arctic, and woods. I can see why it might read too masculine but I love it.
Good luck in the storms. I’d be shit without electricity.

I have been a long-time lover of most of the Chanels; however, No 22 has always had a special place in my heart. I’ve never sampled vintage, my bottle is from the early 2000s. It is heavenly! I haven’t worn this fragrance in awhile; today will be the day!

Hi APJs, it’s a chilly morning here. I thought some of my sort of vintage Opium in the limited edition bottle would go great with my red leopard print wrap dress…come to find my son has been poaching it…and the sprayer is trying to jam. I only wear it a few times a year. I thought that bottle might last my lifetime. Now it feels like there’s about 10 ml left. Mild panic has ensued. When I found out that sporty 16 year old boys actually run the fragrance market of the US via Brazil I should have bought him his own bottle! At least he always smells great…

Happiness all round here as two lots of perfume surprises in the letter box last night. My STC order and my Fort & Manle discovery set. WOW! I can see why this brand gets the love and i can totally get why Charlatan is a favourite here. I ripped open the packet (the packaging and style is fantastic) in the car and from one spray on my hand i could tell straight away this is a Winner! it was like Montale, Mancera and CdG Incenses all in one with a splash of amber. So amazing!
This morning i picked Maduro – I’ve used all my sample as initial spray is wicked – a little sweet, a little smokey, a little amber and woody but its very light and soft on me. Which is a shame as this is super pretty and warm. DId do small sprays of Harlem Rose and Amber Absolutely – both were lovely, and smooth. Looking forward to trying the rest.

I could not wait until tomorrow so the top of my right hand is sporting the 1976 decant that just arrived in the mail…gorgeous!!! I am saving this one for summer 🙂

Testing Cafe Diem by PK Perfumes this morning while I drink coffee and catch up on blogs. Really enjoying it so far. It’s a dabber sample so I might decant it into a sprayer and reapply after my shower to see how it sprays on. It’s always interesting to see how the way you apply a scent can change your impression of it.

Saming is a major part of the fun of this obesess..I mean… hobby…but it is dangerous for the budget 😉

ha ! I am like you….so happy when I don’t “love” something enough to obsess over wanting a full bottle 🙂

I am still really enjoying my rather new perfumes, Ambre Nuit and Iris 39. I think I might havve over-applied scent on Thursday morning (6 small sprays of Iris 39), but at least that made the scent last for nearly 8 hours, impressive!
Trying to relax and fight migraines and tension headache this week, so the smooth Ambre Nuit was perfeect today.Work has been too busy for some weeks and it is not likely to get much better in spring either.
Other than that, have enjoyed baked egg plant (aubergine) and other vegan food, including a new-to-me store-bought vegan aioli. Good thing it exists (I cannot have eggs), but I guess I could have made it better myself, with more garlic certainly! No energy for baking, so I guess I will og without cake at my young nephew’s birthday tomorrow (Sunday).

Feeling a bit out of sorts today and we have lunch out so some Dame Black Flower and a few dabs of their Desert Rose. Be nice to be able have sleep in, or day in tomorrow thanks to our public holiday.

Enjoy it. I think any hope of a slerp in has been banished by the impending sleep over tonight of my seven year old boy’s best friend. Still…looking forward to another Sunday-ish day without too many demands.

That’s a nice combo…I find that both Black Flower as well as Dame’s New Musk for Man pretty much layer with anything…..the Chocolate Man does too but you have to have a sweet tooth like I do 🙂

Planning to wear 1976 on my neck today to keep the wrists free for sampling at Sephora. The dry down of 1976 on the top of my hand last night was gorgeous.

What’s on your list to sample CM?

Not sure…my Sephora is REALLY small so they don’t have the offerings that the Manhattan NY Sephora does…I will see if they have the Iris Rebelle and maybe give that one a whirl….I would love it if they carried the Berdoues as I haven’t sampled the three newer ones…and I also saw online that they are carrying some Kilians but I highly doubt that my Sephora will have them…I don’t exactly live in a high end exclusive neighborhood so the level of niche isn’t exactly there….each Sephora pretty much stocks what it sells……

So I tried the Atelier Iris Rebelle on skin…very dry rooty iris. Gabrielle on one hand (sweet) the Mugler in the green bottle, Aura?, on the other (also sweet but nutty and minty) and on paper the eau de Merveilles Bleue….nothing that required a full bottle purchase…money saved 🙂

And also Chloe Nomade on paper which was very heavy grapefruit…pleasant, but grapefruit….

Stupid Perfume Name of the Week goes to Daisy Dream Twinkle. I have seen it all now🙄

O ye gods and little fishes, WHAT an abomination of a name. Is it for five year olds?

Daisy Dream Twinkle?!?! Noooo. That name actually hurts 😫 It’s for under-twos. Those who watch teletubbies and stuff. Ouch.

Testing samples of Neandertal Light and Neandertal Dark edp today (a lovely surprise gift from a friend). They are really interesting–but, in this first perhaps overcautious try at least, very short lived on my cold-skinned wrists. Larger doses next time. I want to smell more of these, and the light and air and earth, and sense of place that seems to live inside them.
I’ve been wanting to try them since reading http://www.ascentofelegance.com/2015/11/between-flinted-spoor-sky-neandertal-by.html on their initial release, but soon they will be out as EDP rather than perfume.

Wow they sound interesting. Amazing bottles too.

Aren’t those bottles amazing? It may be the first time ever that the bottle has made me hanker after a scent., rather than just being an incidental bonus (or horror).
I wonder if they are as nice to hold as actual flint hand axes which have the most amazing *rightness*.

Checking out a sample of Goutal Vanilla Exquise this cool morning. Not foody but goes well with pancakes so far 🙂
Two tired little guys after they talked until at least midnight (when I could pursuade them to stay in their beds – cheeky things). But they still managed to seriously dent some pancakes this morning and are having a lot of fun already – 7 year olds – bottled energy I think

Was thinking about it but it’s turned into the laziest type of weekend instead.

Laziest type of weekends are perfect. Plus you had two wild ones for a part of it, so extra downtime totally recommended. We never made it out either.

Well we sent the second one back home after breakfast LOL but my own Mr 7 has held up surprisingly well given hiw little sleep he had compared to usual. A lazy day suited all of us really. Jigsaw puzzles and a few quiet games. Might need an early night tonight with something comforting and snuggly – perhaps MEM 🙂

Lazy day here. Chergui, again 🙂 No wonder I keep buying bottles of this- It gets the most wear of any of my perfumes.

You smell lovely! Chergui is a beauty but I need a proper crisp day to wear it comfortably so it’s just a little early for me to pull it into rotation.
