Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 2 – 8 July 2018

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Come back regularly and see if anyone has responded to your comment so you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

  1. Hi guys! Hope you’re all doing alright. It’s been a hot summer here in the south of Russia, I’ve been on a sandalwood kick for a few days now. My SOTD is Rouge d’Hermes. I’m trying to make up my mind whether I should get an older bottle of it (a red one) in addition to my 2015 one. Hmm… Decisions, decisions…

      • Hey Portia!

Yes, the one I’ve been eyeing is a red oval-shaped bottle whereas the one I own is a tall rectangular one with a red label (same as the modern bottle of Amazone, Bel Ami et al.). They’re both beautiful, it’s just that the older version seems to be rose-heavier.

Niki de Saint-Phalle is a great choice for a cold night.

  2. Saffron Veil. Found out about it on your site and LOVE IT. I don’t normally have a “signature” fragrance but I think this one qualifies 🙂

Today, rebel that I am, I am wearing YSL La Nuit del’Homme during the day!

  6. Hi APJ, good to see you again.
It’s hot and humid and I think I will go with my newly arrived Jasmin des Anges. It’s like a to toned down, soft and powdery Grand Bal (both by Dior).
    Have a nice day.

  7. Have been wearing the new Chanel Paris-Deauville the past few days. I like it a lot and consider buying a bottle for summer.

  9. I’m wearing Cuir de Lancome today. It’s one of those perfumes that perform equally well both in hot and cold weather, and it’s been kinda hot here (not complaining!).

  10. Autoportrait by Olfactive Studio for me today. A lovely floating warm and woody scent. Cedar, musk and pepper and a little sweetness. Shout out to Lillibet who gifted me a sample set from this brand 🙂

  12. I wore Rochas Absolu today to visit my Dad in a Melbourne hospital. He had a 5 hour spinal operation last Wednesday. When I got home , I showered and I’m now wearing Mary Greenwell plum…. my decant is nearly finished….I shan’t be buying a bottle.

  13. Today is Dior’s Bois d’Argent. People reckon this is a bit too soft and feminine for guys, but I think it’s good for days like today when I’m working in the shop; less intrusive, but still smells great.

  15. I’m going through my stash of samples so I wore Ginger Tea by Russian natural perfume brand called Acidica Perfumes. I’m a big fan of ginger note and this little scent is exactly what it says on the tin: juicy ginger and black tea (plus some spices)

  16. Happy Friday to all. I’m wearing the vestiges of Penhaligon’s Bluebell, which I applied this morning at about 4am. I woke bolt upright from a bad dream, and Bluebell calmed me a little so I could go back to sleep. I’ve decided that I need to inspire Spring because it is freezing cold and windy….Blue Grass is the go.

  18. Lashings of Melograno…this is turning into a summer staple for me….LOVE IT….I decanted into a dark apothecary style bottle so that I can splash on throughout the day rather than spray. Had never heard of this fragrance or this brand until a perfumista friend gifted me her not often used bottle….how did she know I would love this fragrance? The wonders of the Universe 🙂

and apologies for the various names and gravatar photos…..I am still figuring out this whole wordpress thing as well as the difference between commenting from my phone versus commenting from my computer….and yesterday I accidentally “liked” my own comment when I was trying to “like” Greg’s comment…sheesh…..the middle aged brain does not know how to navigate technology!

    • I think it might be WP playing tricks, rather than brain fail. At least, that’s what I tell myself: wordpress also insisted on using my other name when writing about bois d’argent higher up this thread. (I have never smelled Melograno. I am regretting not trying it when I was at SMN. It sounds delicious!)

      • Ha! thanks crikey for making me feel better ! Melograno is not fruity (as the name would imply)…to me it is a mix between vintage Emeraude and Chanel no 22…..it has that classic vintage vibe…..clean, crisp, musky and powdery all rolled into one….I am finding it refreshing for summer as a non citrus fragrance. Do give it a try if you stumble upon it.

  19. Still feeling a bit ‘off’ ..I developed a migraine yesterday. I’m heading to work soon and I’ve decided something soft calming and ‘powdery’ is the way to go. So it will be a choice between Sweet Oriental Dream and Amazing Grace by philosophy.

    • Ugh. My sympathies–I was knocked flat by a migraine yesterday. Hope you don’t have too much of that lousy migraine handover today to deal with, and that a nice soft perfume helps make you feel less off.

  20. Another day with Melograno…….does anyone else besides me find it ironic that I can stick with the same perfume for days on end and yet have changed my gravatar photo almost as often as I change my undies?
