Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 2 – 8 July 2018
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Come back regularly and see if anyone has responded to your comment so you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

Hi guys! Hope you’re all doing alright. It’s been a hot summer here in the south of Russia, I’ve been on a sandalwood kick for a few days now. My SOTD is Rouge d’Hermes. I’m trying to make up my mind whether I should get an older bottle of it (a red one) in addition to my 2015 one. Hmm… Decisions, decisions…
LikeLike
Hey there Diana,
The red short dimpled bottle is the original. Is that the one you’re talking about? I have the current bottle shape but in the red, it’s quite nice too, not as breathy.

Hey Portia!
Yes, the one I’ve been eyeing is a red oval-shaped bottle whereas the one I own is a tall rectangular one with a red label (same as the modern bottle of Amazone, Bel Ami et al.). They’re both beautiful, it’s just that the older version seems to be rose-heavier.
Niki de Saint-Phalle is a great choice for a cold night.

The old bottle is also TOO gorgeous.

It’s hot and humid and I think I will go with my newly arrived Jasmin des Anges. It’s like a to toned down, soft and powdery Grand Bal (both by Dior).
Have a nice day.

Hey Portia! I was a runner-up in a perfume contest held by a perfumer blogger/evaluator for one of Russia’s biggest perfume brands (Brocard) and she sent me a bunch of niche samples, some of the brands I’d never tried or even heard of before: Manos Gerakinis, Anna Zworykina’s Shambala and something called Rose Roy. It’s an exquisite fresh rose scent, I wish I could find out something about it but Google is clueless!

Lashings of Melograno…this is turning into a summer staple for me….LOVE IT….I decanted into a dark apothecary style bottle so that I can splash on throughout the day rather than spray. and apologies for the various names and gravatar photos…..I am still figuring out this whole wordpress thing as well as the difference between commenting from my phone versus commenting from my computer….and yesterday I accidentally “liked” my own comment when I was trying to “like” Greg’s comment…sheesh…..the middle aged brain does not know how to navigate technology!

I think it might be WP playing tricks, rather than brain fail. At least, that’s what I tell myself: wordpress also insisted on using my other name when writing about bois d’argent higher up this thread. (I have never smelled Melograno. I am regretting not trying it when I was at SMN. It sounds delicious!)
LikeLike
Ha! thanks crikey for making me feel better ! Melograno is not fruity (as the name would imply)…to me it is a mix between vintage Emeraude and Chanel no 22…..it has that classic vintage vibe…..clean, crisp, musky and powdery all rolled into one….I am finding it refreshing for summer as a non citrus fragrance. Do give it a try if you stumble upon it.
