Saturday Question: What Are You Wishing For This Holidays?

Hello Fellow Fumies,

At APJ we have a Saturday Question. Everyone gets to chime in with an answer, chat with other responders and it’s a fun event each week. Taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

The idea is you’ll see it on the weekend or chime in through the week. Hopefully you will come back regularly and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them. The aim is to generate real conversation and connection even though we are scattered around the globe.

Over 100 responses I will draw a Scent Sample Pack (from my collection)
This week:

Saturday Question: What Are You Wishing For This Holidays?

OK, let’s keep this MAINLY fragrant. Obviously we all want world peace, political stability, our friends and family to be happy, safe and loved, work, life, home and health to maintain or improve. Yep. We get that. Let’s cut loose though on our most fantastic fragrant hopes for receiving during this giving season. No matter how out of reach, no matter how budget, no matter that there’s no chance in heaven or earth that you’ll get it. Maybe you even know you ARE getting it but are so excited you are about to pop.

My Answer:

OK I have a few things. None of which I expect to receive. No sweat, I think there’s enough around here to keep me going.

Atelier Cologne Advent Calendar

Yes, the full US$350 pack. Since someone mentioned it here on APJ I have been salivating after it like a starving rottweiler who smells McDonalds. Seriously, I’m completely and utterly jealous of ANY OF YOU that are getting this spectacular pack. I adore Travel Sizes in matching and have them in my ready for anything backpack wetpack.

10 x Fragrance
3 x Hand creams, Shower gels, Body lotions and Soaps

Niral by Neela Vermeire Creations

I’m nearing the end of my Niral travel spray and am ready to progress to a full bottle. Roses, iris, angelica and woods combine to create an elegant powerhouse in the style of her original three offerings. Wearable to the shops or a society dinner and flawlessly smooth. When I want to float effortlessly about the madding crowd. Let’s not also forget that purple amber bottle, bloody hell! Spectacular.

Cuir d’Ange by Hermès

Yes, I have nearly finished my current 15ml of this beauty and it feels like time too upgrade to a full bottle. Cuir d’Ange does a supple, worn leather so flawlessly, effortlessly with an impish grin and a hair flick. Violets, heliotrope, hawthorn and narcissus are the floral elements that give this leather a sheen. Warm enough for winter and cool enough for summer, I wish to have a big bottle so I can go spritz crazy whenever I feel the urge.

  1. Nichts. Nothing. My only wish is to survive. And still fit training in. I love CdA. One of the most gorgeous scents in my collection. Have used nearly a whole 100ml bottle. That is a lot for me. Bussi. ❤️

Because I have extraordinary kind and generous perfume peeps as friends and have loads of samples, decants and bottles to love.
And on that note , DMEM😍

  3. I am wishing for, promised myself, patiently waiting for This Grand Affair by Blocki. So beautiful, smells like it could be a vintage with vibe like Shalimar or No 5 but modern version. I recently received a back up sample which I have been treasuring. Liz Rose of Ave Parfum (in US) just released her three fragrances from her fragrance house The House of Gray in collaboration with the Au brothers from Auphorie. I’d love all three (Bohemia, Layebana, and Paradisus); however, I am wishing for Paradisus first.

  4. Hmm, i’m afraid the list of whishings is way too long 🙂 just kiddin’. I would love a 16ml flacon of Puredistance M and Sheiduna since i’ve tested them few months ago and i fall in love. Also maybe a full bottle of Mitzah would be amazing :)))))) good luck to me on that one.

  5. Alright, I could answer in the same spirit as Val and Mrs. Marzipan have and there would not be one word of a lie. But gang, we have the entertainment value of APJ to consider!! I don’t want to be reading about how everyone already has what they need and how grateful they are 😴. Drag out your greedy, inner child. Since mine is just below the surface most days anyhow, here it goes.
A perfectly aged 1960’s bottle of Shalimar Pure Perfume. And since we’re trolling the vintage aisles let’s add Diorella, Poison, Chanel No. 5 +22, Love’s Baby Soft, Miss Dior, Opium and Madame Rochas.
Full bottles of Russian Tea, Le Parfum de Thérèse and First Cut.
A 10ml discovery set of the entire Malle line.
A 10 ml sample set of all the Chanel Exclusifs.
And because my inner child is not only greedy but insatiably curious as well, four weekly orders of 3 ml spray samples of whatever has struck my fancy lately.
And that, my friends, is how it’s done 🤗🤗

  6. Ha, think my inner demon might be closely related to Marcella’s.
I don’t need a single thing in Perfumeland! That’s the God’s honest truth. But I WANT a few ickle bits☺️ I want the bottle of Opium back that I left behind in a house move. I want another bottle of Magie Noire Parfum oil like the one I have, except bigger. I want the 2 travel sprays of NVC Pichola. I want a backup of Songes in the older bottle.
And last, but not least, I want Laurie Erickson to come out of retirement and make a huge batch of all my favourites so I can buy a bottle of each. She can then retire for good. See, I don’t ask for much, do I, Santa? And I’m an awfully good girl 😇

  7. Ambre Russe, Zeybek, and some F.A.B.
I already have more than enough samples to keep me going, so we shall see what happens 🙂

  8. I would dearly love a bottle of Rozy VdE, and if I can find one then I might just have to self-santa as fast as they will take my money. The idea of running out is making my twitchy. I’d not say no to a bottle of Lampblack, either.

If Vero goes ahead with the Naja EDP, SIGN ME RIGHT UP PLEASE, Santa! And if Mister Bogue happens to have a bottle of his own brew of t-rex? That too. Cheers.

Other than that, nah, I’m good thanks, on stuff. (HAHAHAH. lies.) Obviously, I’d like my full strength back, and to stay injury free now please. But wait… there’s a pair of red glitter doc marten boots that is making eyes at me. And if you can find a really soft black hoody with a nice pouch pocket and slightly batwingy or wide sleeves that aren’t built for someone who is a foot taller than me with long stick arms? Yeah, I’ll be your BFF.

p.s. that Atelier advent calendar? Damn. Even more crack-like than the Liberty fancy-pants one. I’m a sucker for a mini.

  9. Well I don’t really want anything but I’d settle for a sample of Hiram Green’s newest, Hyde.

And if I’m being really greedy I may as well get a bottle of Au Coeur du Desert which has been on my list forever.

  10. First of all, congratulations on your win, Greg!

I actually have a list of the bottles I’d love to have, – here’s a few names: Tabac Blond, Issara & Oudh Infini, L’eau de Kasaneka, more Cuir Amethyste and Bois d’encens, Cartier So Pretty, Habanita and de Profundis. I could go on, my list is a few pages long, lol!

  11. I’m hot on the trail for a bottle of Arte Profumi Sucre Noir and Aedes Musc Encensé, and next year’s big birthday/anniversary present from DH will be the Le Labo Moscow city exclusive Benjoin 19. But apart from that I’m pretty sated. Having way more perfume than I can possibly get through in a lifetime, I need to continue purging those that I’ll never get to and slow way down on buying. Or at least set up a one in, one out system. Who am I fooling by saying I’m going to stop buying?

  12. OK, in the spirit of letting out my inner child (since we do not do holiday gifts for adults in my family), I’d like some super fancy soaps–perhaps a full run of the Oriza LeGrand. Then I want some nice fragrant hand cream for overnight, and some cuticle cream/oil to go with it. Possibly from the Malle line. I could use some new scented hair product as well, maybe Aveda, maybe a little fancier. .

      • Portia, that’s like my mother!!! She adored Chanel No. 5. As gifts I would buy her the perfume/soap/body cream and basically any ancillary products I could find. She used them all EXCEPT for the soaps! She said they were too beautiful to use.

        Like

      • isn’t the packaging just *gorgeous* on those soaps?
The texture is lush, too. Really creamy and non-drying. But… at least for the Relique d’Amour one I bought, the scent doesn’t last. (Now, the Tauer soaps… blimey, that’s a soap that keep its perfume)

  13. I have a few thoughts – Goldfield and Banks White Sandalwood, or Desert Rosewood. Fort & Manle Harlem Rose. And got my eye on Washington Square by Bond No9, not so much for the scent but for the beautiful bottle. No one in my family buys me perfume, mostly because they all think I have enough of it! I also wish for lovely weather for Christmas Day because it’s at our place this year.

    • Ha! I have been eyeballing that Washington Square bottle for years now…for the same reason, the bottle as it depicts a lovely place in NYC that I have frequented.

    So absolutely this.
And some CB I Hate Perfume Cradle of Light, the full strength version, along with JAR Bolt of Lightning, whatever the version of Habanita was that I tried and loved that was actually leather with no powder, Tabac Blond parfum, a full discovery set of Hermessences, and access to easily sniffing new niche releases whenever I feel the urge to head out and sniff.
DNEM please, I’m looking to make room in the bulging perfume cupboard

  15. My brain is in overload after all the Black Friday fuss, I have filled and emptied sundry shopping carts all weekend and don’t know WHAT I even want for Christmas!
Oh OK, Areej le Dore Koh i Noor maybe. Habanita as mentioned above. Anything delicious for my bath.
    Brain still functioning!

  16. I won’t get any perfume because everyone thinks I have too much already. And they are way out of the price point ballpark…. But I’d love to have a bottle of Xerjoff Lira and Le Labo Tonka 25

  17. Cuir d’Ange is so good! I managed to nab a second hand bottle on eBay and it’s one of my most satisfying FB purchases. Defo worth skinning an angel for, I hope Santa is good to you.
My partner and I usually exchange gifts around the $100 mark but everything on my wishlist is more than that because I have expensive taste! I’m tempted to ask for Valentina Myrrh Assoluto because the notes list looks divine and the price is right, but blind buying an xmas gift would be risky.

    • I’ve been eyeing Valentina Myrrh Assoluto as well based on notes and reviews. Tempted to blind buy but wish so much to sample. I’ve been surprisingly pleased with Valentino fragrances, love Donna and Poudre.

      Liked by 1 person

      • I’m a big fan of Poudre, enough that I’m thinking of getting a backup bottle. Like you I’m looking for a sample of Myrrhe Assoluto, would prefer not to blind buy – if I end up pulling the trigger I’ll send you a sample!

  18. So in real life, my only “wishlist” item is a small bottle of the new Tiffany & Co. flanker, Tiffany & Co. Intense, but otherwise I’m not wishing for any particular gift, because I’ve been given some lovely fragrances earlier this year and will probably pop some of them into gift bags and put them under the tree just to get the full effect!

But if I’m letting out my inner greedy child, she would go for the coffret of Chanel Les Exclusifs minis. They are so cute!

  19. If I was going to be flippant, I’d say that I’d like somebody to give me a foolproof way to remove glass stoppers that are stuck in vintage perfume bottles. There are several vintage scents I’d love to go to town on but I can’t get at them.

TBH, I have more perfumes than I know what to do with, so I’m not really hankering after any more. In a related sense, I am getting low on AdP shaving cream, so maybe another tub of really nice shaving cream, maybe the Santa Maria Novello.

Oh, and world peace, blissful marriages , no road carnage, Australia winning the cricket and all that good stuff.

  20. Hey Portia! Love the question as I can be a dreamer. A new bottle of Mohur Extrait and while we are at it why not a Mohur EdP as well. I would also looove Shalimar Extrait and Mitsouko Extrait, Spiriteuese Double Vanille and while I am at it, why not also ask for a large bottle of Dior Cuir Cannage and Mitzah. Geez – a girl can dream though. 😊

  21. I plan to put a few of the Malle travel sprays on my Christmas list as well as
the usual almond shower oil and a request for a StC gift voucher. I don’t suppose I’ll be putting any of the Dior exclusives on the list, since they’re not available here. My relatives always wonder why I want even more perfume.

      • For sure Lys Méditerranée is on my wish list. Other than that, I think I have to go sniff then again. It’s been a while since I last tried many of then. Drives van Noten didn’t quite fit me. Perhaps a rose perfume? Not something I wear foten, so a travel spray would be just fine.

  22. I’ve mentioned the Atelier Cologne Advent calender Portia, but the cheaper version 😉 …and I didn’t buy it in the end. Don’t ask me why, probably ashamed for all the money I’ve spent on perfume this year.
I’ve sent the amazon link of L.Turin’s and T. Sanchez’s book The Guide 2018 to my daughter, so that will be her Christmas present for me. Beside that, I’ll buy myself a bottle of Diptyque’s Tempo. Just got another tester yesterday because I wanted to make sure that I really like it.
I’d like sample sets of some American perfumers that are impossible to find in Europe – the latest Bruno Fazzolari perfumes, Dame Perfumery, the above mentioned Laurie Erickson…
And I’d like a bottle of Amouage Bracken Woman, Ormonde Jayne Woman, Penhaligon’s Blasted Bloom and Chanel’s 1932. That’s it, phew…
