Hello Fellow Fumies,
Every Saturday we have a Question, an idea purloined from Olfactoria’s Travels. Everyone gets to chime in with an answer, chat with other responders and it is a fun event each week. Taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
The idea is you’ll see it on the weekend or chime in through the week. Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Saturday Question: Currently High Rotation Perfumes?
High Rotation around here is not so very high but there is a tray in my wardrobe with some of the things I reach for most regularly. It has about 20 fragrances on it but I don’t reach for all of them weekly.
My Answer:
So the three that I reach for most at the moment seem to be
Hermès Monsieur Li:
Monsieur Li has been a favourite since I picked it up a gift pack on sale in Japan a few years ago. The refreshing, greasy citrus and cool water smell of it is both calming and centering. Perfect for the heat of summer here in Sydney.
CHANEL No 19 EdT:
I think most perfumistas have at least tried the elegant cool sophistication of CHANEL No 19. Awash in roses and iris with a mossy dry down that manages to be both comfortable and aloof. I can’t imagine summer without it.
Neela Vermeire Pichola:
Shimmering white flowers with green herbaceousness cutting through the creamy sensuality. Pichola is a perfect reflection of Pichola Lake in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Having stayed at the lake Palace there a few times I am also transported to very happy times indeed.
Currently
Chergui
Chanel 19
Terralba
Lush Breath of God
Dzongkha

Being very flighty I’ve not reached for anything regularly. The only one that could possibly qualify is Casablanca as I wore it three times in the space of a week.
Pichola 😍 💗 ❤️ 💕

I reckon three wears in a week IS high rotation Cassieflower. I don’t think anything has got that kind of wear around here for a while.

Hi! The original from 2017 is a light, slightly musky floral with a pretty citrus opening. It’s a great daily scent and I often wear it to work. But oh, the Intense version! That came out in 2018, and I love it: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2018/12/09/scent-sample-sunday-tiffany-co-intense/.

I really need skin time with Tiffany Intense. Loads more sparkly than the new edp!

I enjoyed the dry down of the 2017 Tiffany version, and after sampling the Intense, I love Intense even more. From initial spray to the dry down, gorgeous!

No high rotation perfumes, at the moment my most worn is Fils de Dieu, followed by Dzing! and my dwindling decant of Felanilla. Trying to use different scents to give all bottles and decants some love. But still lusting for new ones….

Hmmm.
Lately Clinique Aromatics Elixir, vintage Chanel No. 22 edt, L’Air de Rien edp, Papillon’s Dryad and Donna Karan Black Cashmere. These are all great cold weather scents and they smell even better on my scarves, hoodies and coat collars a few days later.

I also have too many fragrances and am sampling a lot lately. However; my highest rotation fragrances lately are Dioramour, Ambre Russe, Aerin Ambre Musk, Niki St. Phalle, Molinard Habanita, Tauer Le Maroc Pour Elle, and Sisley Soir de Lune. And past couple weeks I pulled out very random Schiaparelli Zut (re-released version of 1998) and am wearing it a lot! Love it

Hi Kathleen,
Yes, for many of us perfumistas high rotation means more than once a month. There’s SO MUCH we need to get our sniff on. You are getting some fine juice on your skin. MMMM

Fickle nose. Fickle nature. But Le Mat has held me in it’s thrall since I got the sample. It’s probably not the one that has been worn the most but certainly the most memorable and cravable. Most worn would probably be vintage Shalimar perfume. That tends to be my evening go-to.

It’s winter here and we are expecting snow tonight. This season I have been wearing a lot of L’Erbolario Dolcelisir, Solstice Scents Estate Vanilla, Micallef Note Vanillee, and Nocturne Alchemy’s Crystal. I guess I need to smell like dessert at all times to stay warm and cozy lately, haha!

I don’t know why but this is tricky for me to answer! I have been using things up lately and doing lots of thunking so not sure I have worn anything for more than two days in a row? Except maybe my Nubian Heritage Raw Shea Butter or my homemade vanilla cardamom body oil every night. Now the week before or the week before that I would have said Casablanca. I would have to go back to the SOTD threads and see what was in my rotation-LOL!
But I have to say that after my shower I put on one of my new gifted bottles….Natura Amor America Paramela….holy cow…it is so stinkin’ good that I might just keep with it for a while…to my nose it’s an aromatic citrus but it’s got some heft (I think honey might be one of the notes in it) and it is just elevating my mood and making me happy.

Some are rather quiet, but still not skin scents. The oils radiate better. Some are one sprays only. Wan Chai, Night Song etc are definite heavy hitters. I pop a dampened cotton ball of Teone’s scent into my bra. It radiates all day.

Did you see there is a new Chloe Nomade EDT version Kate? It is described as a “solar interpretation” of the EDP. “The lively, captivating softness of the lychee accord is revealed in the introductory notes as “the essence of radiant femininity.” The freesia note from the original brings its numerous nuances in combination with a delicate and enwrapping floral quality, while the bold and specific character of oak moss exalts the tonalities of this luminous fragrance.” (description from the press releases)
