SOTD 8.4 – 14.4.2019

Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 8.4 – 14.4.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

    • I had a quick look at this, Portia, due to your post on the other site, and saw that someone mentioned immortelle as something they picked up in this, but isn’t on the notes list. It’s my fragrance nemesis. Do you feel that it has a presence in this one?

      • Sometimes honeyed tobacco and immortelle smell quite similar to me Sue, maybe because they’re often used together and I haven’t the ability to parse it. The way I smell it is chocolate caramelised stewed fruit and a honeyed tobacco drizzled over a very resinous amber. None of that curried immortelle thing though.

  1. Mr Marzipan and I feel asleep in a cloud of Pour un Homme last night…..new catnip.
This morning at 430 tested Shanghai Lily. Now Love in White on wrists, Tolu on neck ( thanks to AnnieA) and Ava Luxe Milk oil on top of hands. Later to freshen up will be Diptyque 34.

  2. Today I wore Gaultier 2. This is another discontinued gem that I found in an op shop. I really like this for an amber scent, and the weather is starting to whisper amber to me.

  3. Fève Délicieuse getting a tryout today. Lovely. Sweet but not cloying. Longevity isn’t wonderful but would probably be better if sprayed.

  4. Commando so far because sun, sunscreen, pool and naps. Yesterday evening no 5 EdT vintage 80’s (brought a complimentary sample I received with my Vol de Nuit buy some time ago). Swoon. This evening I think it will be no 22 from a decant Portia sent to me a while ago!

  5. I have been wearing L’Occitane Pamplemousse-Rhubarbe EdT during the day. Now applying generous amounts of Tauer Amber Flush Body Oil to curl up on my bed with some TV show or other. Sadly we have to wait until Easter for new episodes of the crime series “Vera”.

  6. Chanel 19 for fortitiude. Visiting Canberra and my 92 year old parents. Today I will take an afternoon for myself and go to the pre Raphaelite exhibition at the National Gallery. Ashoka for the occasion I think.

    • Amazing that you still have both parents at such an high age. I hope everything went well and you enjoyed the exhibition. Beautiful choice of perfumes for the day 🙂

  7. The last one I wore was Bottega L’Absolu. It does last a long time and you get whiffs on you quite often. It is faithful to the original and even velours. These flankers of original just have slight twists while remaining to the original so I think anyone who likes the original can safely blind buy the flankers.

  8. Nutrimetics’ Georgie, an 80s Australian, I think. A basic floral, I guess, nothing special, but my daughter said ‘it reminds me of the beach, but not sunscreen. And soap.’ I love her reviews.

  9. Thanks to Portia, I’m sniffing Oliver % Co’s Nebula 3 Veil today. This had quite a sharp opening which made me think of galbanum, but that’s not one of the notes. Perhaps that’s one of the synthetic compounds that I’m smelling. A few hours later, I’m mainly getting lavender. No beetroot tins as yet. 🙂

  10. Last night tested Profumum Olibanum and Yves Rocher vie Privee.
Done with testing for now until I open my last birthday package at the end of the month.
Tracy Reese from my new bottle gifted to me by my lurking friend. Gosh, I could write a story about this fragrance.

  11. NR For Her L’absolu. The usual base with added white floral opener. Possibly my favourite from this line. Will probably change my mind tomorrow 😉

  12. So I went with NOA instead today … massive sprays…. I am in a fragrant cloud. And would you believe I caught the mister looking up Pour in Homme on Amazon last night? That’s a miracle 🙏🙏 🙏 lol 😂
He wouldn’t be caught dead searching for fragrances in the past. Now he has an ulterior motive. 😈

  13. Long week, but next week no school and we are going to Florida for 5 nights! I wore Sonoma Scent Studio Bee’s Bliss today. I wish I had ordered the larger bottle when I could- I have 17ml and it’s not enough!! This afternoon got a swap package with 31 Rue Cambon and 28 La Pausa – can’t believe I have never sniffed these. (In return my swap partner got some Nicolai Kiss Me Intense and 4160 Tuesdays Eau My Soul.)

    • I wish I had had the finances to order the entire SSS line up when it was available 😉
28 La Pausa is gorgeous (I had it in my PPP) and 31 Rue Cambon was confiscated by my younger one after I wore it seven days in a row…it’s equally as good.

  14. heading up north to visit a college with the boy very early this morning and will pretty much be gone all day…will pop in tomorrow for the Saturday question and the Scent Diary if I am void of energy tonight. Not even sure what to wear scent wise. Might just go commando 🙂

  15. I’ve spent the weekend with some girlfriends at the coastside walking, eating, drinking and chatting. One of the girls recently found out that she has a tumor relapse, this time on her liver and we were celebrating that it has not metastasized further so it can be removed surgically and she should be fine after that…sometimes strange things make you happy, she said.
I had vintage Vu by Ted Lapidus and Ramon Monegal’s Mon Cuir with me and I was overspraying most of the time because I felt it’s the right time for it.

  16. I have been so neglectful of my SOTD this week! Busy. Today I wore several squirts of Casablanca cos I just ordered some more so I don’t have to be careful. Last night I wore Orris Noire for birthday party. I can’t remember what early yesterday was, as I was in a flitter of house cleaning. Friday, can’t remember. Same on Thursday.
