Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 8.4 – 14.4.2019
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

Today, I am wearing David Yurman Delicate Essence — a rose, ambergris, peony and musk scent.

Le Participe Passé by Serge Lutens
This stuff is bloody good. Like Serge of old. Full of stewed fruit, resins and a coffee/caramel accord that blows me away.

I had a quick look at this, Portia, due to your post on the other site, and saw that someone mentioned immortelle as something they picked up in this, but isn’t on the notes list. It’s my fragrance nemesis. Do you feel that it has a presence in this one?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Sometimes honeyed tobacco and immortelle smell quite similar to me Sue, maybe because they’re often used together and I haven’t the ability to parse it. The way I smell it is chocolate caramelised stewed fruit and a honeyed tobacco drizzled over a very resinous amber. None of that curried immortelle thing though.

Ooohhhh … that does sound good! Can’t do that curry scent on my skin.

This morning at 430 tested Shanghai Lily. Now Love in White on wrists, Tolu on neck ( thanks to AnnieA) and Ava Luxe Milk oil on top of hands. Later to freshen up will be Diptyque 34.

The last one I wore was Bottega L’Absolu. It does last a long time and you get whiffs on you quite often. It is faithful to the original and even velours. These flankers of original just have slight twists while remaining to the original so I think anyone who likes the original can safely blind buy the flankers.

Good point, Fazal. When I first came to try Bottega Veneta and the flankers I could hardly decide which one to buy because they were so similar. And all of them were very good.

I actually prefer Velours to Absolu so if you buy just one flanker, I recommend Velours.

Thanks to Portia, I’m sniffing Oliver % Co’s Nebula 3 Veil today. This had quite a sharp opening which made me think of galbanum, but that’s not one of the notes. Perhaps that’s one of the synthetic compounds that I’m smelling. A few hours later, I’m mainly getting lavender. No beetroot tins as yet. 🙂

I’ve spent the weekend with some girlfriends at the coastside walking, eating, drinking and chatting. One of the girls recently found out that she has a tumor relapse, this time on her liver and we were celebrating that it has not metastasized further so it can be removed surgically and she should be fine after that…sometimes strange things make you happy, she said.
I had vintage Vu by Ted Lapidus and Ramon Monegal’s Mon Cuir with me and I was overspraying most of the time because I felt it’s the right time for it.
