Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 22.4 – 28.4.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

  1. Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. A very generous NSTer was decluttering and sent me a small bottle. I don’t think I would have bought it – the ambrette seems really strong to my nose which makes it less interesting to me.

  2. Going to an unboxing even this evening, and two, no, three of those bottles are mine! Just did my taxes this morning, so I will consider them my instant tax refund.

  3. I sprayed just a single spritz of vintage samsara edp day before yesterday and it lasted a long while while also being detectable to me. I still think it is the best guerlain ever. Today i got narciso (white cube bottle) and my initial impression is its a good one. I think narciso has mastered the musc accord and it reminds me of bvlgari’s early days when they mastered the tea accord. Bvlgari does not excite me anymore.

  4. Hi all. Last night before going to bed I sprayed ‘something’…I was teary and grabbed the first bottle and didn’t really take any notice of bottle shape. Well this morning I woke to the most delicious smell on my arms!!! Sweet and comforting. It turns out it was Princess Marina de Bourbon and the bottle shape is very distinctive!! I have just showered and am now wearing Herve Leger Homme. I had initially brought it as an Anniversary gift for my husband, however ,due to circumstances, I have kept it for myself.

  5. Monday was a cracking day for a party in Sydney. I wore VC&A Concentrated Cologne, a real leather powerhouse. Nothing today because I was flying and I tend not to wear fragrance when other people will be close by and maybe not like it.

  6. Orange Sanguine during the day (applied twice because I love the top notes) and scented body oil for the evening, plus to bed. Need to buy some new samples soon, perhaps try more from Zoologist?

  7. L’Artisan Coeur de Vetiver Sacre. Don’t seem to like this as much as I once did. Not sure if I should hang onto the bottle (95% full) in case I start liking it again. Or Marie Kondo it because I just seem to be swimming in stuff.

  8. Mendittorosa Rituale yesterday, which was my oops-i-bought-perfume accident from HK (omg, that deep lush honey and beeswax in the long drydown…)

    Papillon Anubis today.

  9. L’Artisan Bana Banana. Interesting, kind of fun to start but I’m not that into the base. Glad I tried it but it won’t make the FB list.

  10. Found a few drops of Chanel Gardenia, so wore that early in the day. Then forgot all about it after two hours and absentmindedly applied L’Occitane Grapefruit-Rhubarb. Not the best candidate for layering!

  11. Went without yesterday; I completely forgot to put something on.

It might be only me, but when autumn comes I find myself reaching for amber scents. Today I’m wearing Baldessarini Ambré. This is quite a cheapie, but it is still a good amber with quite competent performance.

  12. Last night lashings of my Lavender infused Eau de Merveilles and thunk. Another commando day due to late evening training in tight quarters. Tonight might go for Pour Un Homme 😁.

      • Ha that’s true!!!
I am so mentally and physically tired I can’t even think on what to wear. I am drawn to my e.o.s so that’s what I have been going with.

  13. HG Dilettante today. Though I shouldn’t buy for a while, I am always looking for the perfect orange blossom. I like Dilettante, but it isn’t the one. Still searching …

      • No – I have tried only à la rose and Aqua Universalis forte (the samples I got when I bought my Mito in Rome). I like them both, but I live in a perfume desert rather. Still, I’ll keep an eye out, and possibly reserve some skin for them next time I see MFK. Thanks for the suggestion!

  14. Scent of bed … Pacific Rock Moss thanks to our gorgeous Portia! I love it!!! Reminds me a bit of Un Air de Bretagne. Which means I will be thunkin’ it by sending it to my lurking friend (after a few more wears) who loves beachy/oceanic fragrances ( the same friend who kindly sent all those beachy Decants to my eldest).

  15. Hey All,
Sorry I’ve neglected you this week. I’ve been trying to get the TRIVIA Q&A done. Going OK but slower than anticipated. My brain is flaking out. Should be all done by Monday and I’ll be back to lay.
    CHANEL Boy tonight. MMMMMMM

  17. I’m going to a fancy birthday party wearing my little black lace dress and vintage Estee. It’s warm so it fits perfectly.
Tomorrow I’ll be going to visit my daughter in Budapest again and I’ll be back end of next week. Have a good week everyone ❤

  18. Orange Sanguine during the day. SOTBed is a tiny spray of Chanel Coromandel edt. I am planning to decant some for a friend, then have my sister take the bottle home, would hate for it to go missing/get stolen!

  19. Saturday I went to work in lashings of Habanita. Our ‘Indian Summer’ appears to be over here in Ballarat. The days are as crisp as an apple, the nights requiring a couple of extra layers.
Home life continues to be weird; some days are really strained and surreal, others ,the rapport between my hubby and I ae like there’s nothing wrong. Today, Sunday, I will wear the beachy coconutty Deseao by JLo Have a fun day all

  20. A bit behind the times. Friday I wore Armani Code, which is my earliest niche/designer acquisition. I got it in the late 90s, I think. One day I will thunk this one, honest!

Saturday was Tom Ford Amber Absolute, because the autumn weather has really got me hankering for it. Today I’ve got vintage Chanel Antaeus on, another op shop find which I love. I found this, Dior Jules and Chanel Pour Monsieur in the same op shop. What a day that was!

    • Ooh, I love Antaeus! My cousin whom I introduced to it is forever grateful to me and is finishing his fourth 100ml bottle now! Pour Monsieur is another big love.
