Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 22.4 – 28.4.2019
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. A very generous NSTer was decluttering and sent me a small bottle. I don’t think I would have bought it – the ambrette seems really strong to my nose which makes it less interesting to me.

I sprayed just a single spritz of vintage samsara edp day before yesterday and it lasted a long while while also being detectable to me. I still think it is the best guerlain ever. Today i got narciso (white cube bottle) and my initial impression is its a good one. I think narciso has mastered the musc accord and it reminds me of bvlgari’s early days when they mastered the tea accord. Bvlgari does not excite me anymore.

Samsara is a masterpiece, true. The vintage one, of course.

Hi all. Last night before going to bed I sprayed ‘something’…I was teary and grabbed the first bottle and didn’t really take any notice of bottle shape. Well this morning I woke to the most delicious smell on my arms!!! Sweet and comforting. It turns out it was Princess Marina de Bourbon and the bottle shape is very distinctive!! I have just showered and am now wearing Herve Leger Homme. I had initially brought it as an Anniversary gift for my husband, however ,due to circumstances, I have kept it for myself.

Thinking of you, APJ, as today’s SOTD was Arquiste’s “Sydney Rock Pool”. I like it, though coconut isn’t my usual vibe. I’ll have to wear it more and give it more thought.

Ha! I once drained a 4 ml decant of it in one fell swoop because I absolutely could not smell it on my skin. No one at work complained so obviously it wasn’t strong at all.

Monday was a cracking day for a party in Sydney. I wore VC&A Concentrated Cologne, a real leather powerhouse. Nothing today because I was flying and I tend not to wear fragrance when other people will be close by and maybe not like it.

Found a few drops of Chanel Gardenia, so wore that early in the day. Then forgot all about it after two hours and absentmindedly applied L’Occitane Grapefruit-Rhubarb. Not the best candidate for layering!

It might be only me, but when autumn comes I find myself reaching for amber scents. Today I’m wearing Baldessarini Ambré. This is quite a cheapie, but it is still a good amber with quite competent performance.

A bit behind the times. Friday I wore Armani Code, which is my earliest niche/designer acquisition. I got it in the late 90s, I think. One day I will thunk this one, honest!
Saturday was Tom Ford Amber Absolute, because the autumn weather has really got me hankering for it. Today I’ve got vintage Chanel Antaeus on, another op shop find which I love. I found this, Dior Jules and Chanel Pour Monsieur in the same op shop. What a day that was!
