Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 3.6 – 9.6.2019
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

Creed has never worked for me. Too much noise about their perfumes, but so far I have not liked any of them, including Virgin Island Water, which is a cult. Money saved! . The half decant I received will be sent to a better house where it could be more appreciate it! 😀

Jackieb, I have the cream as well and enjoy it. In bought the body spray later. It’s somewhat harsh and packs quite a punch. I can’t wear it, but I occasionally spray the bedroom curtains with it. On to Slowdive this morning. Ohhh yesss! A rich, syrupy and languid honey punctuated with whiffs of neroli and tuberose. Really good stuff. And it’s name mirrors my day – a slowdive back into work. But isn’t it sweet? Most of the Profumum’s I’ve tried are quite sweet. Not in a sickly, cloying way tho. I don’t recall LBS being sweet. A bit of floral, a bit of powder and a gentle musk. Is your recollection of LBS as being a sweet scent?

I’m laying off perfume for a while. Last weekend was a complete and utter disaster. Just as we were about to get ready for the wedding, my wife tripped and fell on the stairs. We spent Saturday night in the ER rather than at the reception. Turns out she broke her ankle in two places and was in the hospital until Tuesday.
Now I am a prime carer for about 6 weeks and, because my wife reacts to so many perfumes, I will be swearing off fragrances for the foreseeable.

Guess what I wore last night and today everyone?? Brigitte!! I was honoured to receive a sample of Mrs. Marzipan’s namesake, custom-made fragrance. And it’s beautiful. A soft, gentle lilac plus ‘I don’t know what else’. I noticed a very nice creaminess fairly early on in it’s development. Mrs. M said there’s sandalwood. So that explains it. In spite of it’s easy-going nature and polite demeanour it still has lots of presence and great longevity. I wholeheartedly concur with Mrs. M’s opinion that it smells better than some of the dreck we’ve smelled coming from the niche sector. Absolutely enjoyed the experience of wearing it. Thanks for sharing Brigitte, Brigitte!

It’s my pleasure, my friend. Funny thing is, I didn’t think you would like it because there’s musk in there. You proved me wrong 😂

It’s the right kind of musk I suppose.

Perhaps you should have your own custom blend made. Wouldn’t that be a treat. What do you think you’d have in it?

That’s a tough question. It would have to have some animalics for sure. Maybe a slightly indolic jasmine, perhaps a bit of rose. And a brighter opening note, bergamot maybe? I wouldn’t mind throwing in some vanilla.
We had a shop back in the 70’s that allowed you to concoct your own perfume. If I remember, bottles of soliflores were lined up. You could sniff and decide what to mix with a dropper. Crude system. All I remember was that mine had a boat load of ylang ylang in it. It was umm…..the word unwearable comes to mind.
I saved some Brigitte to send to you. Which was quite the selfless act cuz I really, really liked it. Highly unusual behaviour on my part 😜

Qajar Rose from PPP and thunk! My my my this is a spicy little number on opening. Haven’t looked at the notes but it sure smells of incense. Settles quickly, not a nose burner. Let’s see how this develops.

Jardin Sur Le Nil for another stunning day. Blue skies, light breeze and 29C. Finally! Perfect weather for gallivanting around the countryside with LH, perfecting our hunter/gatherer routines. He’ll be casting about for trout while I scavenge for fiddleheads and wild asparagus.

Yes we are. But I kinda feel like we got cheated out of spring because it went from cold to hot!!

Same here. But that’s always the case here. We never get a proper spring.

I’m almost afraid to ask what a fiddlehead is😬 And today was a day at the beach here, yeah just step outside the door and you can drown in the blink of an eye, and sweltering temps of 14. Crack out the sunscreen, it’s gonna be steaming.

Oh dear, that’s rotten weather, but I don’t feel sorry for you 😌. Did you have to wear 17 layers of clothing, walk on sidewalks coated with 12 cm of ice, struggle through multiple blizzards that rip the skin off your face??? And do it for 5 months? I thought not. Therefore, I rest my case.
Fiddleheads are the unopened frond of young ferns. A quick sautée in garlic butter and you’ve had your veggies. I’ll admit they’re a bit of an acquired taste. One which you may prefer not to acquire 😏

I love them….pass me a plate, please.

Wore La Panthère during Sunday and Five o’clock au gingembre to bed. Still can’t sleep, very counterproductive given I have to finish packing for a fortnight away and finish some paperwork.

Try reading a boring book. That usually does the trick for me. Staying asleep, however, is a whole other story.

I have thunked my Jessica Simpson Fancy and now I will need to find another scent to provide me with comfort. I have 3 back up bottles which are in ‘storage’ until I find a new place to live. I’m heading out to lunch today, to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. I had a sneak peek at the menu of the restaurant I’ve chosen, and wowee yummo….there are quite a few tasty morsels on offer. Scent of lunch Tobacco Vanille.

Hope you’ll be treating yourself to many of those tasty morsels and you smell beautiful. As much as I sometimes feel like spitting in Tom Ford’s eye for his extremely ridiculous marketing ploys, he does make quite a few good perfumes. I still refuse to buy his bottles tho, but, I may have bought decants 😬

Back in town and ending the evening in the rest of my vial of Slowdive. Do I still love it? Yes. Does it work on this delightfully warm night? Yes. Did I buy a decant for further testing? Absolutely!
