SOTD 17.6 – 23.6.2019

Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 17.6 – 23.6.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

    • You have me intrigued with Marions Nous Gina. I’m an Oirza Legrand fan. I’m researching now.
I wanted to tell you I found a great price for a bottle of Regines. It is gorgeous, and I love it! I just wish it lasted longer on my skin, but I just re-apply frequently. Thank you for mentioning it.

  2. Chanel Gabrielle. A lighter version of Coco Mademoiselle, which I have never liked. It is more wearable though, but I don’t need more than the sample that I just finished.
    Happy week to everyone!

    • Oh, that’s a nice scent which is on my want list. Good to know it performs also in warmer weather. I used my small decant towards the end of winter, I think. Haven’t had any for at least a year.

        • The weather has been a bit overcast and with a real storm last week, but then some sunny days! Today back to grey skies, but temperatures are acceptable, around 17 to 20. So no tan yet, but excellent weather for exercising outdoors.

Food is good, even got a homemade vegan flapjack at the weekend. Hoping to start weight loss with all this exercise I’m doing. Being on crouches for any distance to speak of, is still hard work. I’m trying to get from walking 100 metres to walking 3-400 metres, as a start. Would much rather not go home on Tuesday, but come Midsummer, the main period for summer vacation starts, so staff go on holiday and they cut the number of patients here.

I’m keeping perfume free, as requested, thus not much of interest to contribute to the discussion here at the time being.

          • That all sounds so good in comparison to the last rehab unit. Even edible food. Being outdoors more is very therapeutic in itself, even if it’s not as sunny as normal at this time of year. I hope you see continued improvement.

            • A few hours outdoors every day surely is therapeutic! Plus I love the sea air, even if this is a very calm part of the coast, no pounding waves usually at this time of the year.

  3. It’s only 5 pm and I am already in bed. I am so exhausted that I don’t even want to eat dinner 😯
Wearing a blend that I made for my Ireland bound co worker who gifts them to her family members every summer…. it’s my homemade vanilla bean oil with Neroli e.o. and sweet orange e.o…..I smell like a delicious orange creamsicle.
Watching Being Erica on Hulu. Hopefully I will be able to sleep better tonight.

  4. Molton Brown Mesmerizing Oud. I used to have Molton Brown Rogart in the past but sold it. This one is better. New Molton Brown perfumes are cheaper but the bottle was much better for Rogart.

  5. The Harmonist Guiding Water from a swap sample. Quite long lasting for an aquatic…. but not really my jam. Will go into the pile to pass along.

  6. Reality beginning to bite. House goes for auction on in 7 weeks and the realisation my marriage is really over!!!! I have been packing and sorting my clothes for the past few days woweee I have some items that I have no idea of buying and still have tags on!!! As for perfume today I am trying A Lovers Tale from a sample . To me it is a sweet soft powdery scent And don’t crucify me but maybe a toned down Pravda Candy

    • Hey Sally Anne,
WOW! Selling the house is big. I’m really sorry you’re going through this. It must be a million shades of awful.
Prada Candy would be extra lovely if it was a little toned down. Good idea to be wearing samples, no long term memory scents. Clever!

  7. Had a decent night’s sleep.
Wearing a blend I made with a L’Artisan that was so fleeting I decided to doctor it up with a vanilla bean, patchouli and orange and let it marinate for several months.

  8. Robert Piguet Visa for me today. Perfectly delightful office scent that lasted nearly all day and deserved googling a good price for a possible purchase …

  9. Le Labo Ambrette 9 sprayed lavishly. Trying to finish this full bottle that has only few mls left. It will be thunked before summer is over. Very comfy for a dark, rainy, muggy day.

  10. It’s my birthday, no it’s not 🤣🤣 but a homemade bday card was waiting for me at the office. Macaroni, glitter and everything!! And a carefully curated selection of samples successfully smuggled through Cassie. I pounced on Sex and the Sea. And bloody hell if it isn’t perfect. It’s me at age 23. Plastered on my towel at the beach perfecting my tan. With lewd thoughts galloping around in my head. Hormones running wild. The quintessential summer scent. Some coconut, some vanilla, add a dash of salt and heaping helping of lusty thoughts 😈 I love it!

    • Yep, it’s awesome stuff. It does what it says on the tin, conjures up all the feelings – and memories (yes, I was that verrry naughty girl back in the day)☺️
And I’m so super-talented and artistic, it just bursts forth every now and then😂😂😂

  11. The Harmonist Yin Transformation which will be going into the pass along pile. This one is floral/musk, but not particularly special to my nose.

  12. Oh no! I like it, but I will not look for a back up anymore. It is very comfy, but with low projection and longevity. I always have to overspray to smell it. Not worthy!

Oh and I wore the Way de Lierre over a base of sandalwood essential oil….it was soooo good!

  26. For travel this morning I wore Pacific Lime. For dinner tonight I may wear the sample of Chanel Les Eaux Riviera I just snagged at the San Francisco boutique (I bought 50ml of the Paris-Deauville but will save that for my birthday…). The SA was lovely and gave me a generous sample of the Riviera as well as several others. I also passed by the VCA counter at Neiman Marcus while catching up with my family and snagged several samples there. So far a successful trip, perfume-wise!!

Portia, don’t murder me when you read this but I doctored up my Niki de Saint Phalle with some bergamot, tangerine and fir balsam essential oils last night to breathe some life into it and wore it to 🛏️ whilst munching on an almond croissant with marzipan filling that I picked up at the farmers market.
Today will go with Incense Pure again ☮️🕉️☯️✌️
