Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 12.8 – 18.8.2019
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

You like Gabrielle! I like it initially, but something in the dry down smells plasticky on my skin. I’m happy to hear it fares better on your skin. I’m wondering what the recent release Essence flanker smells like. I will be visiting the Chanel Boutique in Dallas in a few weeks and hope it will be there to sample, as well as the newest Eau Riviera, and maybe the Coromandel extrait that Val Cookie Queen mentioned.

I have tried:
1. Vintage 1980s formula of Grey Flannel(I feel the modern Grey Flannel formula I tried in 2010 or 2011 was pretty faithful to the original).
2. Vintage Knize Two (probably first version and it is clearly a dupe of Grey Flannel. Knize Two was released few years after Grey Flannel so probably tried to exploit the popularity of Grey Flannel).
3. Chanel Coco Noir. I think Chanel Coco Noir is nice; it is clearly inspired by Coco Mademoiselle rather than original Coco. I don’t own Coco Mademoislle but have smelled it.

I loved the original Grey Flannel and had my own bottle of it in the early 80s. Back then folks thought it was odd that a teenage girl would wear such a masculine scent but I loved it. Good to know reform isn’t so different.

Grey Flannel remains unique and controversial to this day. I think the top notes scare people off and they also baffled me for a long time. It was only after years that I acquired my first bottle because I was buying another perfume from a seller and he offered this as an add-on for a really low price. Grey Flannel is a perfect example of a fragrance that is not exactly pleasant but it intrigues you.

Worrying is understandable. It comes with the job description for mother. Have faith in the groundwork that you and Mr. Marzipan have laid. Likely your son will make mistakes and encounter some difficult times and face tough decisions. Along with that comes great personal growth, strength and resilience, all of which he will need as he enters adulthood. Trust him. He will survive and thrive 😘😘

Yesterday I pulled out the Lolita Lempicka Fleur de Corail since I hadn’t touched it this summer. Kind of salty floral. It didn’t make it to dinner, so I found a sample of Tauer PHI and sprayed that for the evening. Now that one lasts. Today I decided to try a random number choice from my spreadsheet. Ô de l’Orangerie came up which works just fine for summer!

Went through some samples and ended up putting on Guerlain Le Parfum du 68. Not sure I really love it. There’s only about 2.5ml left in my sample. Had to run some errands and found myself at a perfume counter. I wanted to try Chanel Paris-Riveria, but they didn’t have a tester. So I sprayed Biarritz on the back of one hand and Deauville on the other. Then I tried hand and body lotion by Molton Brown in Suede Orris. The mixture of all of this is making me happy even though it’s mostly faded. That is, except for the base of the Guerlain, that’s purring along quietly.

Wore Bulgari Mon Jasmin Noir during Sunday. This one does show some signs of not ageing very well (feels dusty in the last part of the drydown), so I should make a point of using it more often for work, before it turns.
