Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 19.8 – 25.8.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

  1. Wearing Biehl PC01 in the countdown to the end of summer. Sadly, it was really beaten up by the scent of my sunscreen.

  2. TF Ombre Leather. Def. a clone of Tuscan Leather and kind of redundant if you own Tuscan Leather. Does seem lighter and friendlier than Tuscan Leather, as the name of the perfume implies.

    • I love Ombre Leather. Sniffed it in Sephora last year. I never smelled Tuscan Leather but I know that Ombre is now showing up at the online discounters so it’s a much more affordable alternative.

          • I was surprised when TF released it in regular line. it was previously in private blend line as Ombre Leather 16. I have not smelled original but people are saying this re-released Ombre Leather is actually better than the original Ombre Leather 16 version and also cheaper.

When it came out, I knew it was a matter of time before it becomes cheaper. I think TF is not strict with supply of mainstream line so eventually high supply forces down the prices of mainstream line once the bottles get to third-party sellers. In contrast, the private blend usually gets discounted when it is not selling well or is about to be discontinued before suddenly jumping up in prices when the supply becomes scarce after discontinuation.

  3. Today Vanira Moorea by Parfums de Berdoues. Citrus and vanilla, these two notes are so beautiful together. Still having hot days with record high yesterday! Wore Escada Miami Blossom and felt like a tropical vacation !

    • Yum!!! A gorgeous discontinued beauty!!! How many samples have you thunked thus far? Are you making any headway with your summer samples? I am in testing mode so haven’t really done much thunking.

  4. Still working on it. Too many samples and I usually do not wear more than 1-2 perfumes a day. There is an overwhelming, long way to go!

    • My latest spending incident…..🤣😂😁🙃
I have been having some of those myself but mostly stuff for the kids….although I was completely out of soap and did buy a Nesti Dante six pack on Amazon. Surprisingly we don’t hoard soap in the house.
And I am now eyeballing salty licorice on Amazon….when I order it Ingeborg gets an enabler pin from me.

      • Who was it on here talking about South of France soap a while back? I may have a tiny little stash of it now. And I also scored big time with bath/body products from one of my recent hotel stays. I was complimenting them on check-out and the lady gave me a few more. So I’m all good in the soap department for a while. I’m not going near the salty liquorice. Not looking at that at all. I’m bad enough stealing the Smallies’ jelly beans😉

        • Umm I was talking about South of France and someone else chimed in about it as well…..I really was out of soap so I splurged on something a bit more luxurious since the kids are usually the ones who get the fancy stuff while I do with the boring cheap stuff.

I only want the licorice because it sounds interesting and I have never tried it…who knows? I might not like it 😉

      • I love the Nesti Dante soaps too. One problem with them: They’re such big, weighty bars that they almost break a toe if dropped in the shower.

  5. Wearing Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cologne today. Chemist Warehouse has this for $20 a 50ml bottle right now, so get yourself down there if you’re even remotely intrigues by it.

I would say that this is a solid fragrance but, despite the almond notes, I would say it is better suited to warmer weather than right now. Harking back to the discussion we had on cheapies a while ago, this is a definite addition to that list.

  7. In IUNX L’Eau Sento. Such a beautiful, light and comfy incense perfume. Exactly what I needed today. I had forgotten about it. Perfect for the summer heat, even though the reviews consider it is a fall scent. Love it! Thanks Brigitte!

    • We have Tara C to thank for that one! As you know I had to use about 30 sprays of that one for each wearing to even smell it on my skin. I didn’t have much luck with the IUNX line. I knew you would like it because of the notes which is why I wanted you to try it 🙂 Glad it is wearing well on your skin!!!!

  8. Pamplemousse-Rhubarbe from L’Occitane today. Had an appointment at my GPs office, so something light was just the right thing. Lots of rain today, so SOTE is Theorema, it has a nice warm feel, yet it is interesting.

  10. We are having a lovely late summer day. SOTD is Hèrmes Ambre des Merveilles, light enough even on a sunny day. Feeling uninspired, so might just have a look over at StC, to get some variety without committing to a FB purchase.
