Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 9.9 – 15.9.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

  9. Scherrer One Love on a day with a few light rain showers.It turns out my brother is going to the US for 10 days with a mate, leaving wife and kids at home. I’m hoping to get him to go to Sephora and buy a couple of travel sprays for me.

    Have felt nearly ill today, but suspect it is just the sudden change in temperatures and hope some extra rest will help. Did get to the polling station for my area with some help (local elections). I even went to cast a vote in the church election because I know it means a lot to several friends to be able to keep the option for LGBTI persons to get married in church, so liberal representatives need to be in position. .

  10. My comment seems to have vanished! Oh well, the short version: SOTD Sherrer One Love. Have been to the local polling station this evvening (local elections) and even cast a vote in the church elections, trying to secure liberal candidates there.

  16. I got two CKs bundle for quite cheap so tested them. CK Reveal Man and Eternity Summer 2007 Men version. CK Summer is much better than Reveal Man but both going to the sale board since they do not really add much flavor to my collection.

  21. For bed Burlesque…. it’s a bit like Shalimar and a bit like Emeraude to me. I am not getting the iris but it is a dominant note….weird.

  24. Well hi folks!!!! I bring good news. I have found a place to rent and move in on September 30th. It is a very modern 3 bedroom townhouse. Thank you all for your good vibes. The downside is the cost, which means I won’t be shopping/ able to afford perfume for a long time. Although often we perfumistas are so busy chasing the ‘next great smellie’ that we tend to neglect what we already have at our disposal. I am looking forward to being reunited with my collection just in time for warmer weather. As for today, I am wearing sample of Italian Leather by MEMO Paris…Soon I will shower and apply TV

  28. I wore Eau Duelle today and will re-apply when I get home. If I ever do! Bone weary and ED is such a comforting, reassuring fragrance. Apart from a few brutal days of work we have some good news here. Summer has returned, albeit temporarily. Sun and heat and humidity. All the good stuff. Woo-hoo!

  32. It’s a good day here as samples from Decant Shop have arrived. Left hand options Zoologist Beaver, 24 Gold and Memo Irish Leather (can see why this one gets lots of love). Right arm TM A*Men Pure Havane, L’Art Patchouli Patch and Tauer L’Air Desert Marocain. Iris Leather reminds me of TF Tuscan Leather. Looking to squeeze on a few more before bedtime…

      • Oh no! You didn’t try it before sending the sample to me? 😱.
        It is a beautiful scent with a strong ginger opening. Then smokey rose and Ylang Ylang take over. Kind of powdery also. I found it unusual, but very pretty!

And if it was then I am really losing my marbles …maybe too hard for me to keep track of what I sent to whom…..I usually do try everything before sending anything out…..No worries about me not trying it….your description is good enough….and it’s d/c so maybe better that it was not tried by me.

  35. I started out today in Eternity Moment. And later I couldn’t hold out any longer and tested the Calèche Soie de Parfum. Oh. My Gawwd. It is stupendously fabulous. The atomic blast of the aldehydes out of the bottle almost made me swoon (I love a good aldehyde😉). Marcella’s gem has been upgraded to the finest diamond.

    what a day!!!! I had a full day of aromatherapy to get me through my workday…started the early morning in Feminite de Bois..segued into Dolce Vita (thunk) and then into Jasmine Noir (thunk because I sprayed myself every time I went to the bathroom)….I swear my perfumes and sniffing myself every few minutes is the only thing keeping me sane!

  40. Lavishly sprayed on Comme des Garcons Avignon. Incense, incense and more incense is what I need today! I will reapply heavily during the day to protect myself from and sufocate ALL negative things surrounding me lately (hopefully, I will not choke myself on such a huge amount of my beloved perfume!) 😳

    • Saturday has arrived… yippeee {not} ..Every Saturday I now work until midnight. The first 5 hours are ok, however the ‘lady’ in charge for the last 3 is a dragon, on a power trip !!! Anyway back to perfume; Yesterday I opened a drawer in my former perfume room, it was FULL of samples and decants. I also found a couple of small bottles, too. I am not certain how I hadn’t packed them up !!!!! Amongst this group I found some SL wax samples, a 10 ml bottle of Patou’s Joy and Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. I wore the Joy yesterday to work. Today I am wearing a sample of Tom Ford’s Velvet Orchid….and am regretting it….on my skin it is awful. A coconut bomb.

  45. Phew. The week is over (sort of) Yesterday I wore Brigitte’s creamsicle perfume oil. A nice juicy orange with a hit of vanilla.
    Today vintage Chanel No. 19 and a chic outfit for client meetings. I’m all business today and I’ve got my game face on 😼

  48. Burlesque again. I’ve been waking it out, and I will say that this has really grown on me. The patchouli in here is da bomb! Gym with both girls this morning then a stroll around Mt. Royal. I’m sure we’ll find some treats along the way. Later dinner en famille and I made a Dutch appeltaart for dessert. I’m going against the grain and serving it with whipped cream. Yes, there will be naysayers, but when in me casa…….do as the mummy does.

  51. SotMondayAfternoon Showered & freshly spritzed in Dzongkha. Very grey outside. Maybe we’ll get that rain after all. We really need a good soaking for a month or so; it’s been brutally dry.
