Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 16.9 – 22.9.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

  1. Parfum de Thérèse on a sunny but cool morning. I’ve quit whining about summer being over and I’m on to a new project. Hardening off for winter. Sleeping with the windows open. 9C this morning 😬

  3. I am feeling overwhelmed again , trying to pack up still I have now packed all my bottles of fragrance away , so I am just using decanted and samples . As the days come and go I am becoming distressed and anxious. I haven’t lived alone ever in my life. Anyway on a positive note there are only 98 sleeps until Santa drops by . Sample today ; Angelique Noire

  4. Having had a couple of exhausting weeks, both physically and emotionally, I’m finding myself choosing my favorite comfort scents. Today was Tauer Wowilla oil, which has the side benefit of helping my dry skin.

        • I have found a bottle of Avon Pearls and Lace whilst going through a cupboard. I have no recollection of how I acquired this bottle. Anyway it will be my Sot Very long day…..I’ve been up since 9am. I will be working with a male nurse who is grumpy, and really should retire because he gets frustrated and short tempered. So I require a forcefield. I would try Stash, but I’m not in the mood for it. I’m in the mood for sweet ,soft, powdery florals ,which I suspect Pearls and Lace will be. In other news , I have organized a moving truck, and bought a new mattress.

          • Sending forcefield reinforcements! Dear Universe, please keep grumpy male colleague in check, thank you. Hope your day turns out better than anticipated. 🤞You smell lovely!

  7. The Dali is gorgeous….a vintage powder….and so inexpensive for a full bottle. Just goes to show that a perfumista on a shoestring budget can still smell amazing. I thank Kathleen for introducing me to this beauty.

It’s going to be a long work day…leaving before 7am home around 930pm. I will go with a comfort scent…my custom blend Brigitte. I brought the bottle up from the basement last night and could have sworn I smelled coconut in there this time. anyone else who has sampled this get that note?

Thanks God it is the Hump Day….counting the days til the weekend….I will do so until July….

  8. Bond No9 Eau de Noho for me today. I think the Mimosa is the star here. Good news, I got a pay rise so it only seemed appropriate to order some Le Labo body oil and sample set to celebrate 🎉

  9. Started out in Parfums Quartana Hemlock. Nice… (damned by faint praise). It’s ok but a bit uninteresting for me. Generic green, despite a long list of notes. But wait up, I picked up my 4160 Tuesdays Clouds Illusion from the post office at lunchtime. Got back to the office, tore it open and sprayed. Seconds later one of the girls came out of the other office to see what I’d sprayed, she LOVES it. As do I. This deserves to be a big hit, gorgeous, impactful yet wearable. A slightly powdery iris with sandalwood and hay notes. It’s delicious. I could lick myself.

  10. Vintage Houbigant Le Parfum Ideal. I can’t even describe how beautiful this perfume is, opening with citrus and carnation (I’m really loving this in perfume), floral with rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and a powdery dry down. My favorite style of perfume. Thank you Brigitte for sharing this beauty, I just adore vintage perfumes, they make my heart and nose so happy!

  11. TF Sahara Noir for me today. Remember crew, life is short, pack as much into it as you can and that means wear your expensive perfumes whenever you damm well want. A dear friend of mine is not responding to his chemotherapy. He is the bravest man I know. Looks like it’s also waterproof mascara today.

  13. Cocobello for the last day of our Indian summer. Back to normal with the rain tomorrow, dammit to hell anyway. I’ll get out on the deck for an hour this evening with my daughter and a cold glass of wine. The Smallies can run wild outside, haha.

      • I think it is turning into a favorite from this house. Mr Marzipan likes it too. Out of the three I tried last night he liked it the best. I also like Bracken Woman. I need to retest Jubilation in the cold.

  17. Doctored up some La Fille De Berlin with vanilla and bitter almond oil (which smells like marzipan in actuality)… I think I may have finally replicated the smell of the original Jergens Lotion.

  18. Finally testing Alahine, thanks to Mrs. M’s thoughtfulness. I’ve been wanting to try this for quite some time and have seen it mentioned quite frequently. I’m not sure about it yet. I have no idea why I thought this fragrance was all about roses 🤔 So far I’m getting honey which isn’t even listed as a note. In fact it’s reminding me of Slowdive. I’m getting resins as well but very little florals. This is going to be an interesting journey!
