Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 7.10 – 13.10.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Dentist appointment around noon, so no scent before my brother came by in the afternoon with the travel spray he had bought in the US, at Sephora in Albuquerque (he and two friends on a road trip, so no visit in NYC this time). I had asked for one from Phlur or the one I got: Atelier Cologne Clementine Calefornia. Yet again a very good citrus scent from Atelier Cologne. I really like it, but then I am a fan of this cologne-style scents! My nose is not okay yet, the cold drags on, so all I can say is that this scent lingers nicely on skin for several hours and the travel spray is sturdy. so I won’t be afraid to carry it around in my bag to use as an EBP.

  13. Eau Duelle for today. Last week was a
    sh$t sandwich and this week is following suit. I have suspended sample sniffing cuz I just don’t have the head space for it.
    I’ll be sticking with old reliables and posting when I can. Hi to everybody!

    • I get you on the sample sniffing, it requires time to stop and think. Hope this current shitstorm passes over quickly. Wear your comfort blanky frags.

    • Dear perfume friends . I have finally fallen into a heap!!! I have been so stressed and busy that I no longer have the reserves to fight off infection. I am miserable but I have only 3 weeks in this house. Bittersweet. The cheater left early this morning and left a text saying the slut was possibly in labour. Which means as well as doing the usual cleaning I will have to take on the jobs he has left ie cleaning a 4 car garage ! To help me get through I have chosen to wear the sample of Timbuktu I recently received. Oh and organise to have the fridge taken to my new place because I wasn’t certain if I was able to keep it !

    • YUMMY! My BFF Kath wears this too. She has been going through 100ml quicker than a year. I did buy some extras when it was being DCd but only have one fresh bottle left for her, and my own (which will inevitably end up with her as well).

    Just heard from Brigitte. She’s under the weather in body and soul but doing fine. She;’ll be back among us, stirring us up, thunking, testing and making us buy bottles of perfume pretty soon.
    I know you’d all be missing her as much as I am so thought you might like to know.

    I’m wearing Cuir Amethyste by Armani Prive today. It’s a perfect fit for our cool, sunny morning.

    I received my gorgeous package of samples from Portia yesterday. Thank you! I sampled all of them quickly last night, when I got home. Love! I will give them more skin time during the weekend when I have more time to appreciate them. Looking forward to it! ❤💃

      • Yes this is the norm in Colorado. Last year we had a snow storm one week earlier. Good thing is that weather moves in quick and leaves quickly, so our weather is variable. The famous saying is “if you don’t like the weather, wait until tomorrow!” We live at high elevation and high semi-arid desert, therefore, the weather extremes.

  24. Such a bunch of crummy news here. Brigitte is poorly, Saffy slayed by moving day exhaustion and a snowstorm for Kathleen. Lots of hugs to the lot of you and plenty of “dear, dear, don’t worry, everything will soon be alright”
    Still mired down here but kicking like a mule. Wearing the basics. Vanilla and some lavenders as well. Pour Un Gimme had a good run so far this week. A bigger catch-up when I can!

    • Go Marcella, you’re always punching above your weight 💪🏻. Yes, some of our gang are struggling but not with anything that can’t be overcome. We’ll all settle down eventually. I can only speak for myself when I say I’m tip-top at the minute and I’m thinking of the rest of you who aren’t and I’m sending you all good vibes and some super human powers over the waves.   25. Zoologist Camel for me today. It’s like my rock!
    Some info/notes on the Libertine Witch Doctor I wore the other day – place where it was purchased says a woody aromatic. Wormwood, cedarwood, leather, Patchouli, benzoin and Rockrose. Or bitter herbs, dark woods, smouldering amber and Smokey leather. Worthy of a sniff if you like these notes. I have just put in a sample order for some other Libertine scents, will let you know how they go xx

  28. Gorgeous Elie Saab Essence No 3 Ambre, cozy on a cold morning. The low temp last night was 17 degrees! Furnace has been on to heat the house. This has been one of the greatest temperature swings in history. Wednesday was a high of 83 degrees, yesterday 5 inches of snow and overnight record low!

  30. I’m not sure what happened to this week! Today I’m wearing ELDO I Am Trash for the NST community project which was Apple. The opening of this has a nice Apple note but a few hours later I’m not smelling much of anything. Maybe it needed a massive overspraying.

  31. Finally got my Rose & Cuir today. A beautiful opening, but rosy in the way that geranium is, and very green and stemmy. Very light and refreshing. For me it’s a misnomer as I’m not getting the leather here at all. I’ll see if further wearings shows its leather facet. Will happily enjoy it.

    Long post alert 🚨 I’m having a ELDO day, thanks to the lovely generousity of Bronwyn from Gascoigne & King. I enquired to find somewhere to buy/try a few scents and she sent me a lovely box of samples. Which was most welcomed as I have just spent some time in and out of the hospital. (Nothing that can’t be fixed with more appointments and such)
    So onto brighter things, sniffing four scents today – Noel au Balcon and You or someone like you on the left arm. Yes I do and Tom of Finland on the right arm.
    YoSLY to me, is like a lolly we have here called Mint leaves. And I think Jysotna loves this one. I’m getting a sweet spearmint. Noel au Balcon a smooth, warm honey spicy scent – liking it a lot.
    Yes I do is a delight – floral and musky. I’m quite intrigued and this is worthy of a proper wear.
    Tom of Finland – well he’s like a groovy brother to some of my other woody, spicy leather scents. Don’t need to add another one to the collection, especially as I have a few others to try. From this bunch, Yes I do is the winner xx
