Mood Scent 4: Duvet Day Fragrances

Hey there APJ,

It’s Mood Scent 4 week. Duvet Day Fragrances? Now my thinking goes straight to lazy day off, wearing your track pants, Uggs and hoodie, loading up the TV with Netflix/Stan/DVDs, having loads of snacks and drinking gallons of Tea/Coffee. All done on the couch or bed and snuggled up under a fluffy down doona. This is my ultimate idea of heaven. If Jin is around the house too then it’s almost certain that we’ll also order PIZZA!

So excited to be blogging with these three superstars again:  Esperanza L’Esperessence, Megan Megan In Sainte Maxime and Samantha I Scent You A Day. Check theirs out too.

Mood Scent 4: Duvet Day Fragrances

Ashoka by Neela Vermeire Creations

From its figgy open to resinous woody dry down Ashoka is all anchored comfort and solidity. When the world feels mad, bad or overwhelming and you need to reassess, or hide, Ashoka will keep you safe. Surprisingly easy to wear, it will cocoon you in scent as you burrow down into your duvet and spend the day vegging out. Ashoka also wears beautifully for more formal occasions but when you’re feeling lazy and slothlike it is divine.

Coco by CHANEL

Why not wear a statement scent for your duvet day. Nothing says nonchalant like wearing your vintage Coco parfum to laze around your lounge or bed and read, watch TV or cuddle up to your pets/partner. Make duvet day 100% glamorous, sensual and elegant. Just because you’re wearing tracks doesn’t mean you can’t smell like you’re in silk and pearls.

Charlatan by Fort & Manlé

Let’s talk about this magnificently warming amber with the lot. My favourite of the Fort & Manlé range, I love to wear it on cooler days but it also wears well in the heat. On those rained out weekends where duvet day feels like the best option you will be enfolded in its intricate tapestry and rocked to sleep. Dreams can only be sweetened by wafts of Charlatan.

Cuir Beluga by Guerlain

Bakery meets leather with a few extra bells and whistles for diversity through its lifespan! Cuir Beluga is a deep rich and intoxicating scent. Sweet enough to banish the duvet day blues and intricate enough to keep you interested and sniffing. Another warming scent, it feels like a huge hug from a favourite person, all warmth, beauty and light. I’m thinking Cuir Beluga would be the perfect foil for a sick duvet day, where you need to be sweetened up.

Premier Figuier Extreme by L’Artisan Parfumeur

More fig. This time the focus is on the tropical and creamy aspects of the fruit. If Ashoka is the safety net then Premier Figuier Extreme is a bit of a lavishly languishing day. Rather than coffee & tea I think you might be making yourself boozy beverages and snacking on the three Cs: cheese cake, chocolate and ice cream. Premier Figuier Extreme seems like a perfect fit for the morning after type duvet day.

So there are some scrummy delicious Duvet Day Fragrances.

What are your choices? What are your Duvet Day scents?

  1. OMG! that would be a heavenly day for me too!!! all curled up in bed and binge watching TV 🙂
I am not sure I have any scents that I would consider Duvet scents….maybe Incense Pure? Please pass me some of the three Cs !!!!

  2. I don’t have it yet, but after smelling a sample of Bengale Rouge, that one would be top three. The others would be just about any vanilla fragrance or a light incense such as Passage d’Enfer.

  3. My favourite kind of days. Absolutely with you, Portia, on Charlatan. You sent me a decant as part of an APJ win and it just entranced me. I have kept the vial in a plastic bag so that I can sniff it now and again.
I feel too that I would love Bengale Rouge, like Tara C, and must get myself a sample.
I could spend a day in bed with Stash, Eau de Gucci, and maybe Cinema for a bit of boudoir glamour.

  4. Duvet Day! Such a beautiful concept!
My choices include Chanel Bois des Isles, Coromandel, and 31 Rue Cambon. Also vintage Emeraude and Arpege. And Youth Dew.

  5. I have never experienced a day like this, unless sick…but if I did, I would be enveloped in vanilla things like Shalimar, Cuir Beluga. And Trayee for sheer delight.

    • JackieB,
You have to schedule one in for yourself. It takes a bit of organisation and shuffling but it’s the most reenergising thing ever. Particularly good if you do early morning exercise and then come home and have a leisurely bath, get into your house comfy clothes, grab the doona, snacks and remote and go.
      Promise me you’ll try it?

  6. I don’t ever have these kinds of days. I am always going and doing with a fulltime job, second job teaching college, two-hour roundtrip commute each day, horse to care for and elderly parent. But, for some reason I do like to use Tauerville Vetiver & Petitgrain Splash on my pillow and sheets after I make the bed. It is just fresh.

    • WOW! You are a busy bee GinaT,
Somehow you need to find a way to schedule in a Duvet Day. It’s the ultimate reenergised.
Yeah, I spray the fresh sheets too. With L’Occitane Lavender Linen Spray. The whole room smells beautiful for three days (before it goes back to smelling like stinky old men).

  7. First of all, I love you for this “Make duvet day 100% glamorous, sensual and elegant. Just because you’re wearing tracks doesn’t mean you can’t smell like you’re in silk and pearls” I nodded so hard my cup of tea nearly came back up. I totally believe that perfume gives you the super power of glamour even when you have a moustache, odd socks and a food badge on your jimjams. (Just me?)

I LOVE your choices. Coco Chanel is inspired! and as for Premier Figuer- YES!
The others I am now going to track down, although I do have a few Neela Vermeer’s somewhere which i loved, but can’t remember the name. Anyway, you had me at “fig”

    love Sam xxxx

    • Heya sam,
YAY! So glad to have hit the spot. Perfume is our super power, suddenly we smell like any dream we can have. It would be perfect if you were a spy.
Do you have my email? I’ll send you a few drops of all the Neela’s.

  8. HI Portia,

I have to say that like Sam I loved that line. Haha perfect. Totally loved all of your choices and the only oneI haven’t tried is Charlatan but love the name. All Neela’s perfumes are great of course. Hope you get a duvet day soon. My idea of heaven! xx Megan

    • OMG! Megan,
You will love the Fort & Manlé line. Home brewed by an Aussie guy, Rasei Fort. He is the sweetest and had some really tough dramas with getting it all up and running. He takes old tropes and skews them so interestingly. Charlatan is the amber plus plus.
Wishing you a Duvet Day ASAP too. Aren’t we lucky that something so simple can bring such joy and peace?

  9. Duvet Day sound marvelous 🙂 I have it only when I feel sick, otherwise I choose company over my single life and go out with friends.
I love your suggestion of Coco because I prefer to feel glamorous when I look like a witch with my old glasses and in my pyjamas 😀 My choices are SL Jeux de Peau when I feel hungry, vintage Trussardi Donna when I need some vintage glamour and CK Truth when I want to feel sexy.

  10. I have a hard time pairing fig scents with a duvet day, other than that I found interesting suggestions in all the participating blogs. At this time of the year I think I would mainly pick amber-y or spicy, warm fragrances. Coromandel, Fendi Theorema, Dior Fève Délicieuse and SL Five o’clock au Gingembre are some of my options here.

    • Theorema, Feve, and Coromandel all are cozy warm fragrances that I would choose as well. I haven’t sniffed GIngembre yet but have heard it mentioned quite a few times lately.
