Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 21.10 – 27.10.2019

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

  1. It’s a dark day but the rain has ended. We lost a lot of leaves from the trees yesterday 😥. Never mind Le Mat will do some multi-tasking for me today. It’s comforting but never boring. It’s uplifting. Sometimes spicy, other times sweet. The chatter about immortelle yesterday prompted me to wear it. Excellent choice, if I do say so myself.

  2. Having a lovely time sniffing some of my Fort & Manle samples. Impressions de Giverny is delightful. I’m super intrigued by this one, Still don’t get Charlatan – all I can get is baby poo? Forty Thieves though – now that’s a freakin’ winner. How will I ever leave the spicy, oriental, amber incense fold with amazing scents like this. Still in love with Amber Absolutely and Harem Rose. Thank you Rasei for your amazing scents x

  3. Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme. The original batch really lasts a long time. Should appeal to those who enjoy Philosykos or Costume National Homme.

  4. Douce Amère for me today. One of the few Lutens I get along with and it’s perfect for this cool, verging on coldish day. The sun is shining and I will worship at it’s alter. The rest of the week looks like a wash-out 🥽🌂

      • It’s no secret that I do not like Lutens. Until you mentioned it, I didn’t realize how many of his perfumes have that awful fruit goulash in it. Lutens house perfumer Christopher Sheldrake is not for me. I only tried Iris Silver Mist (love it) because he did not create it. Plan on trying Rose de Niut for the same reason.
Wearing sample of Frassai Blondine. Just OK.

  5. Fendi Theorema this evening and a few drops of Bois d’Iris earlier today. Visible ice today on any wet surfaces, need to dig out the warmer shoes with better soles!

New lambswool jumper bought yesterday and now I only have to find the silk scarves I use regularly, they will be warm enough for now. I don’t much like the bulky knitted scarves, don’t want too much around the neck or near the face.

      • I don’t really like using any type of ice cleats and I’m not sure what you mean by claws. The best thing for me is something which doesn’t need to be taken off the boots before entering a building, so I go for soles that are specifially made from a soft rubber-blend, and last year’s purchase of something very similar to hiking boots, but with an “Arctic Grip” sole, was a winner. There’s small sand-like particles incorporated in the outer sole. For my crouches I need steel spikes which can be tipped up or down as needed. The snow next week won’t stay for long I think, and that’s fine with me.

  6. Running late this morning – picked first scent that came to mind knowing its gonna be very warm here today – Ralph Lauren Blue. So very close to a thunk….

  7. Got Nasomatto Silver Musk on today. This is supposed to be a linear musk scent, but I get more from it; a kind of fizzy zing before the powder takes over. Very nice soapy kind of smell. Reminds me, I must go wash the dishes.

  8. Checking in rather late today. Vintage Arpège and scent-appropriate clothing for a meeting with a potential client. I smelled like a lady and dressed like one too.
Just heard the stupidest thing while I was driving and listening to the radio. The mayor of our fine city has asked parents to postpone taking their children trick-or-treating till Friday. Why, you ask? Cuz we are expecting considerable rain 🙄. Are you kidding me? Apparently, children might get wet 😳

  9. Keeping it simple all week with my bottle of Reglisse at work. This may be ongoing for weeks.

  10. L’art Al Oudh for me today. Love this one. Portia – i did a couple sprays of Garden Gnome on my wrist this morning – didn’t hate it – I got green and woods. Like a good-looking gardener who put on a pine scent, then got a bit sweaty mowing the lawn – ha ha. Not my usual choice but It will get another trial for sure xx

        Mmmmmm…..

Funny story…..one of my coworkers dressed all in black and told another co-worker ” this is my costume, I am Brigitte!” And the other co-worker responded ” but you don’t smell as good as her!” LOL 🤓

          • Yeah folks in general don’t comment on any specific perfume at work so it’s nice to be recognized for smelling good.

            And what’s wrong with looking like a 🎃 ? LOL 🤓

  14. Ormonde Woman today. It’s windy and rainy but my community decided not to postpone trick or treating like some of the neighboring towns. There will be a lot of wet kids running around tonight. I’m leaving a big bowl of full size Skittles and Starburst on my porch as I have to serve dinner to my son’s football team. I wish I had a security camera trained on my porch to see how many kids take only one, and how many grab a handful (I have NEVER missed handing out candy on Halloween, but my husband is stuck in New York enroute from Amsterdam, and we couldn’t find anyone else to serve dinner!)

  15. Another very hot day today – there’s a fire weather warning to the north of us. Got my trusty Eau d’Orange Verte on, but it’s disappearing fast on my skin. This is quite an old bottle now; I suspect that it’s lost a lot in longevity and might need to be replaced. I’ll use up my Concentré before I do that though.

  18. Sublime Balkiss. It’s so beautiful in the freezy November air (to be honest, I only like it in November: its woody musks are killing me when it’s hot or even warm outside).

  19. I am kidding myself that spring is back, purely because I am not getting drenched and rugging up, unlike yesterday. I’ve got vintage Nicolai Cologne Sologne on (thanks Portia). This is very much at the floral end of colognes, maybe a bit too floral. I like my colognes to have a bit of citrus and herbs in them, and I find this one a bit femme for me.
