Hi APJ,
A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.
SOTD 4.11 – 10.11.2019
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.
Go To It Crew.

Hey Portia,
I’m wearing a sample of I Heart YY, the perfume Antonio Gordoni has done for Scent Bar opening a store in New York. It’s a kind of mentholated ylang-ylang.

WOW! Antonio has been busy this year. Two releases, neither of which I’ve smelled yet.

Good thing I didn’t spritz up a storm today, because for once I am not alone in the office on a Monday. VCA’s fancy perfumes are very nice, if a little low key and possibly overly similar…

I am back! Did anyone miss me? The new owners were happy with the condition of the house , so settlement occurred. I am permanently in my new ‘space’ . It is far from a home 🏡 yet. I worked over the weekend , as usual. On Saturday I wore Paloma Picasso body lotion and EDP . Another treasure from Portia. I was complimented on it by a patient at 6 then a night shift nurse!!! Winning. On Sunday I cannot remember what I wore ( I really should write them in my diary) Anyway last night I wore Petit et Mamas and Allure to bed . Now it is Tuesday , Melbourne Cup Day . And it is COLD COLD COLD . Feeling elegant in vintage Arpege

Of course we missed you! You’re part of the family. I’m so glad to hear that you’re finally settled. It’s good to have the house sale done with. Time to move forward, and it sounds like you are. And doing it in style with vintage Arpège. Fantastic!

We always miss you Saffy, but know that you’ve got a lot going on just now. Great that things are settled with the house. One more thing done! And you’re gonna make the new place your very own Saffy Gaff before long, count on it. Paloma Picasso was just amazing back in the day. It’s still available but it’s a totally different animal now. Gone from 🦁 to a 🐱 just like a lot of others.

In order to try and get more exposure to some of the scents in the furthest corners of my drawers, I’ve started a practice of digging into them on a Sunday and pulling out 7 frags for use in the week ahead. making sure not to double up if I can. This should help me get more out of my collection.
Monday I wore Penhaligon’s Endymion. To me, this is a classic barbershop scent, and the coffee note is a plus. Today. it’s Lalique Pour Homme. Much more grunt than Endymion, the Lalique is reminiscent of those ’80s scents that guys wore to announce their presence from about ten feet away. It’s a big blast where the Endymion is more subtle.

I love that idea Greg! I have quite a large fragrance collection as well with many perfumes I don’t wear often. I will follow suit and do the same as you. Select 7 and wear each one per day.
Thanks for the great idea!

I am not wearing anything at the moment but plan to wear Mont Blanc Presence d’un Femme after shower. It was cheap and the online reviews persuaded me as many people said it was released for women but smells quite masculine. Plus the original fragrance ad for the perfume is quite beautiful so I ended up buying it.

Wearing Theorema again. I have had a home office day, trying to understand some parts of the GDPR. But I have been sidetracked by the events in connection with what seems to be in every way a big scandal with Norwegian authorities having mid interpreted parts of the obligations in the EEA agreement for many years. Seems authorities have been denying export of certain cash benefits which could in fact be lawfully exported.
We have subzero temperatures, luckily no snow yet. It’s time for the warmer scents on a daily basis now.

Hi to you all. Wednesday morning and I am wearing Aromatics Elixir body lotion . I seem to have thunked my small bottle . Greg I like your idea of choosing 7 bottles to use . I have found that space is very limited so I am going to box up my collection again until January. I will select just 10 bottles to use over the next 6 weeks. I need the 2 tables for my Christmas decorating. I will let you know the lucky 10 later tonight.

Yesterday /i had on one of my favourite vetivers: MP&G Racine. I like the bitterness of the grapefruit opening in this, it’s quietly bracing. Today is Eau Sauvage Parfum, the only scent I’ve ever had a woman I didn’t know compliment me on. Sadly, it didn’t work today.

The first cold of the season is coming on, which is just charming when your job requires you to sing. I’m wearing Lolita Lempicka Si Lolita! today. That blast of pink pepper at the start helped clear the sinuses, at least momentarily. This is one of my no-brainer perfumes, I can wear it year round and compared to the original LL, it’s not really sweet so I find it quite versatile. (Plus I just love anything spicy.) In case the day gets away from me, tomorrow I plan on trying the new Arielle Shoshana Sunday, I received my Kickstarter travel spray yesterday.

SOTD Chanel Gardenia. Sadly my sister won’t have the chance to go to London this month, so no chance of getting hold of a Tauer perfume without all the extra taxes and fees when ordering from Germany. So far I’m holding back. Also, my uncle’s American relatives seem to have changed their minds and maybe won’t come before next year, so no perfume mules for now.. Still craving something new, so will have to go to one of the local niche shops again.

Today I’m wearing Les Nez Turtle Vetiver Front. I honestly think that this is possibly the most stupid name of any fragrance, up there with the worst that Smell Bent can dream up. It’s lucky that I like this one, because I jerked applying the splash bottle and ended up applying about ten times what I intended.
Tonight we are going to see John Butler at the local Blues and Roots Festival, so I’ll be wearing blue jeans and putting on something with a hefty root-y smell: Dior Homme Intense.

Tried the Arielle Shoshana Sunday today. It’s inspired by matcha horchata and I totally get that. Something in the far dry down was a little off for me, will need to try again. Switched to SJP Stash for the evening, heading out to a very cold high school football playoff game. If they win tonight they go to the championship. Don’t tell my son but I’m secretly hoping for a loss…

I received my travel spray of AS Sunday this week, and I’m still trying to decide how much I like it. Something in the top isn’t my favorite, but then I get whiffs during the drydown that I quite enjoy. Perhaps it will be an acquired taste. Her Saturday was too fruity for me initially and now I enjoy it. I have to give Arielle Shoshana credit, Sunday is very unique, there is nothing quite like it.
