Hi APJ,

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and perfume people love to chat.

SOTD 6.1-12.1.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz but whenever you feel the mood take you share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at APJ, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your comment and you can reply to them.

Go To It Crew.

  1. Purring around in Bengale Rouge on the last day of Christmas. It is traditionally known here as Women’s Christmas.

  3. To celebrate the first perfume purchase of 2020 being another backup bottle of vintage Givenchy Gentleman that I won today (barely 40 minutes after midnight), I am wearing vintage Givenchy Gentleman. It is just toooo gooood!.

P.S. The poor guy or a gal lost the auction of vintage givenchy gentleman to me by less than a dollar 🙂

  5. We got hit by a cols snap yesterday. so I wore something a bit less summery: Costume National Scent Intense. Today I’ve got TF Costa Azzura on. It straddles the cool and hot weather nicely, which is what we’re getting today.

  6. Going to bed in Dior Ambre Nuit. Finally got my last Christmas presents on Sunday, but sadly no Tauer mini bottle! I shouldn’t be surprised, and I had lots of nice things, so I’m not complaining. But now I’m wondering if I should ask a relative to pick up something else in London this month, as a gift for myself. It would have to be something that can be found near New Bond street, which seems to rule out the Grandiflora perfumes. Such a shame I haven’t had a chance to try more from Chanel, but won’t buy without having had a sample first.

Does anyone know if Equistrius has been discontinued? I have a decant and want a FB! Cannot find it on the brand’s page now.

  7. L’Occitaine Eau des Baux today; and a sample of DSH BIWA tonight (the perfume she created to honor Robert Herrmann). It’s lovely and will probably be my SOTD tomorrow.

    • How did you get a sample? Reportedly there are no samples being sold. Robert Hermann actually came up with the name and the notes prior to his passing. I will be very interested to know what you think of it. The notes sound lovely.

  8. The Day of Ephiny was yesterday so end of the Christmas Season. I began to I decorate my house but after 3 hours ran out of puff! I had to do a few errands so wore Avon City Rush . It simply disappeared so when I went to Myer I sprayed myself with Ellie Saab . It was pleasant but I won’t buy a bottle ( yet). What I did buy is 3 candles !I have always used candles however since renting my own place I have become OBSESSED with them! Tuesday has arrived and now I am wrestling with my Christmas tree to I decorate it! I am wearing a sample of Amouage Honour Man

  9. I’m finally back at home!!! YAY! First day back and headed straight to my perfume cupboard. The enveloping comfort of Le Mat is just what the doctor ordered. That and another week of rest. To be sure, energy levels have been severely depleted, so I will listen, for once 😌

  10. Sylvaine Delacourte’s Ozkan from the new orange blossom collection. Spritzed heavily and then panicked when I saw immortelle in the notes. Can’t do that one. But this is rather lovely – the dryness of the immortelle works with the leather and contrasts against the orange blossom. So perhaps I have found an immortelle for me after all.

    • The Ellie Saab I sprayed yesterday was quite yummy and long lasting. I would consider buying a bottle in the future. Today I wasn’t feeling very energetic and emotional . I thunked a sample of Daisy Love . Meh. Apparently smoke from Australia ‘s fires have reached CHILE and the SOUTH ISLAND of NEW ZEALAND!!!! Wearing Fancy Nights to help me sleep

      • The destruction of land, the homes lost, people displaced and the sheer number of wildlife deaths are truly saddening. I’ve seen some horrific pictures. I donated to the link Portia included on Sunday and I’m hoping for cooler temperatures, less wind and buckets of rain.

  11. Sylvaine Delacourte Vahina. This is a rather lovely soapy floral with a creamy aspect. Slightly better longevity than Valkyrie but not anything to write home about. This won’t scare the horses or set anyone’s heart beating fast.

  12. Slowdive on board this morning, which is exactly what I will be doing into my bed later this afternoon. Worked from home most of the morning. Relax ladies! It was either phone or computer stuff.
Mr LH has booked our vacation a bit earlier than I had planned with a view to stretching my recovery time. He chose Turks and Caicos. We’ll be leaving in a couple of weeks. As long as it’s hot and sunny, I’m happy.

    • Or as I am always saying Irish Silver Mist 🙄. This seems to be a dearly loved scent by many. I’ve tried it several times, but for me it was annoyingly carroty. I could have been in the garden, digging up carrots if you had blindfolded me.

  13. Continuing the Sylvaine sample testing in Vanori. Now, straight off I got the plumeria in this. It’s like a distant cousin of OJ Frangipani but without the lime. My favourite so far.

  14. Salome for today, which I think smells so much fuller in summer. The heat opens it up beautifully. So why am I wearing it when it’s -21? Oh well, I’m not going to stick my nose out the door in any event. Maybe I’ll jack up the heating and wander around in a summer dress.

Just added some Frapin IF to my wrists to get me through the afternoon and to home time – hurry up please!

    • You’ll hear complaints from me. I don’t like this weather nonsense. We have a rainfall warning for today and freezing rain warnings for this evening, tonight and all day tomorrow. Guaranteed we will lose power 😡.
All this precipitation would have been snow 20 years ago. I don’t have to look far to see the evidence of global warming. I would much rather have preferred a gold, old-fashioned snowstorm this weekend 🌨❄️☃️
