It’s just us here now. The final days of APJ. Your tenacity, loyalty and love have not gone unnoticed. Thank you.

APJ Posts Are Moving Where?

The FaceBook page will not be going down so I’ll also leave links to the relevant sites there. So you don’t have to remember these by heart.
Personally, I’ll be BOOKMARKing these pages for easy, one click entry, that will sit in my BOOKMARK line at the top of my page.

A Bottled Rose: Tara Smith’s blog. Both Val the Cookie Queen and I have been recruited across there in recent times. Val does her Strange Tales and I will be doing the Mood Scent 4 project every month.

Perfume Posse: One of the USA’s biggest and most successful blogs. I’ve long been a contributor there every Thursday, usually doing the perfume reviews that went by the wayside here at APJ. Now EVERY FRIDAY will be the new home of SOTD. Same format, almost the same blurb, motivation and hopefully outcome. It’s a scented drop in centre for perfumistas and their buddies to unleash and unburden their lives. We chat about perfume but really it’s just a place we can all go and catch up on life histories, enable each others addictions and be idiots. It would be so nice to see you over at Perfume Posse on Thursday or Friday.

Undina’s Looking Glass: After Crowd Funding all your amazing Saturday Questions I then decided it was time to end APJ. What a bastard, eh? Undina, who has been the life and soul of APJ since the very beginning. Our very first follower that we didn’t know personally and variously the staunchest ally, friend, helper, saviour and general, all round, great person. Saturday Questions will go over to Undina’s Looking Glass and you’ll find me there weighing in on all of them. ALSO our beloved Narth will be a new Contributor over there, so much newness all over!
EDIT! Portia will be doing a series of posts on Undina’s Looking Glass. Fortnightly on Tuesdays! Jump over and have a squiz!

Serenity Now: Old Herbaceous has started a chat forum over on Scents & Sensibilities. She has some quiet direction each week in the blurb. It’s purpose is the enjoyment of each other and our fragrances. Really fun to pop into and see what everyone is up to.

      Sorry lovely, Scent Diary just takes too much of my life. I will miss it too but hopefully will be posting SOTD and life comments much more regularly on Perfume Posse and Serenity Now.

I will miss you and APJ; however, I really enjoy the other posts and feel that we will all stay in contact and continue the fun and fragrant discussions. I’m so glad you will be there!   6. Portia I am ever so grateful for the beautiful space you have created here and it will always feel like home for me. I understand completely that you need to shut it down and move on to other endeavors. The only constant in life is change.
    I too will miss all of our ” idiotic” conversations with our APJ family, many of whom turned out to be good friends privately for me…so the silver lining is that we will all keep in touch.
    Thank you Portia for having kept it going for so many years. We love ya!!!!! ♥️♥️

  9. I too will miss your weekly “doings”. At least we will all be posting on the other blogs. One big happy family just moving on.
    Thank you so much for your wonderful blog. I have learned so much about perfumes. Loved the witty banter between posters. Also a support system for posters going through tough times.

  10. We will all adapt and adjust. And it isn’t goodbye, more a case of ‘hey I’m going couch surfing round my friends’ gaffs, call round and bring goodies’ eh? Of course we will miss your tales of derring do on Sundays but you have a life to live! I cannot begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed this place, it’s like hanging with my homies here. And being my stupid self and talking crap and having banter. Even some perfume, too😉 I’m sure a lot of us will pop up here and there across the other platforms but this to me was the first blog I actually gelled with, though it wasn’t my first blog discovery. Thank you again for being so generous with your time and self. Now go forth, have heaps of fun and I’ll see you soon, somewhere 😘

  13. Thank you for making this overview! I hope to see all of you on one blog or the other. Personally I’m sure I will comment more regularly on Perfume Posse again. But I’ll also follow Victoria’s writing over on BdJ, haven’t commented much there the past year or so.

  14. Everybody is so polite, understanding and mature… I want to be childish and selfish! Don’t drop your Scent Diaries!!! Pleeeease… Your life is so much more exciting than… OK, I won’t speak for others, mine – or at least you manage to tell about it in this way – that it’s not only entertaining or amusing but also extremely inspiring. We can pick up SOTD thread or Questions – that part is easy. But I doubt any of us would be able to replace that wonderful bubbling friendly and fun atmosphere that you create with your Sunday posts. If you don’t want to keep your blog (which I understand), maybe you could post some version of that diary on other blogs (a “traveling” post moving every next time)? Maybe not every week, and not the detailed day-by-day, scent-by-scent, but a monthly digest “Best of Portia’s Month of Fragrant, Friends and Family events”? Just say a word, and I’ll come up with more ideas 😉

    Well, back to my adult self. If you made up your mind, and your creativity has a more fruitful for you and your loved ones application, I’ll be excited to see you whenever, wherever, and will be happy for you and grateful for years of blogging camaraderie and continuing friendship.

    • HA! Undina, I LOVE this. You are so excellent. Yeah, I will miss Scent Diary but will not miss the extra hours in my week. It may come that I feel a need to do something along those lines but it’s currently a hard no. Sorry buddy.
      Having a mild tantrum when shit doesn’t pan out is a healthy coping mechanism. Jin and I subscribe wholeheartedly to. Blow up, freak out, scream, incriminate, then realise there’s nothing to be done except accept.
      I’m not sure if I’ll be more fruitful but hopefully I will spend some more time building the businesses and team. It’s time to start looking towards our future and a little more elbow grease now will bear for a fruitful future (Fingers crossed anyway).

    Thank you Portia darling for including me in your fragrant world, and sharing many smelly moments over the years. In particular, what a hoot we had doing some of the early video reviews!! Reviewing, enjoying and savouring the many perfumes from all over the world that you introduced me (and others to), I’m grateful.

  17. First of all thank you so much dear Portia for the fragrant package I received. I am honoured to be the last one to receive Portia’s Generous Fragrant Surprise Package! I will enjoy it to the last drop. And ofcourse again many thanks to you and all contributors in any way or form to AJP.
    Being too busy most of the time myself I fully get that you need to focus your energies on your first priorities, otherwise something that started as a labour of love will increasingly turn into something other. I hope to meet you at some point in time, in the meantime Godspeed and till soon on the other blogs!

I will miss everyone from APJ but as you say, it’s time to spread the wings, meet new friends, and maybe find some old friends in new places.       We have been so lucky to have this extraordinary group of perfume peeps. I can’t remember there ever being a big drama between us all in 8 years. That’s unheard of from a group of people all over the world in an online forum.
      Thanks for being part of the magic.
      APJ will be even more iconic when it’s gone. We can happily canonise it and tell all the newer peeps what they missed.
