Greetings APJ,

Perfumes are the feelings of flowers.” Heinrich Heine

Colouring Book v iPad

It has become popular and encouraged over the last couple of years for adults to start to colour again, as many of us did in our childhoods. There are some lovely colouring books around but what do you do with them afterwards? I know the therapy of it all is in the doing but still, I didn´t bother to get into it. Then I was introduced to the Scent of the Day Diary, including perfume related pictures to colour in. Hurray! A colouring book with a use. How many of us (I am sure it is not only me) sit down at night, turn the telly on, AND grab our iPad? Way too stressy and I have stopped it for the moment at least. I now take my SOTD diary and colour. It is so relaxing, I can´t recommend it highly enough. Trial run of turning the iPad off at night is proving successful and I am sleeping better. Interesting.

As perfume lovers, perfumistas, pefume addicts, I think we are all familiar with the Scent Of The Day hashtags #SOTD/#sotd. Many of us use it on our social media pages as we share what we are wearing. Great fun in this tumultuous times, and let´s face it, we all love to know what everyone else is wearing do we not?

Scent Of The Day Diary 365 pages

Anisia, from Anisia Beauty has taken SOTD one step further and designed, and printed a fantastic diary filled with perfume doodles and quotes. Each day has a full page, days, date and month, but no year printed, meaning you can record the perfumes you wear each day for at last the next five years! The ultimate perfume OCD diary. I admire the creativity of people and the energy taken into turning an idea into something tangible. It´s a ballbuster, I know.

Thanks to Stefanie Jähn from Fragantica Germany, team member of Fragrantica.com who sent me a SOTD diary, I am absolutely not affiliated with the SOTD diary in any way. I think is a fantastic idea and just want to bring it to your attention APJs. And yes, of course the first thing I did when I got it was to look for a Vero Profumo doodle.

    • It is one big fat great diary. In five years I will be able to see what perfumes I have worn. Brilliant fun! I write in it every day, Love it. xxxx

  1. What a fabulous idea. Also good to hear you’re benefiting from switching off the iPad in the evenings.
I can imagine that colouring in can become a kind of mindful meditation.
    Love the quote too!

    • I still have my iPhone though ………… Yep. Colouring is great, I spent 50 Euros on pens and pencils to motivate me! 😉

  2. Why not doodle full stop and draw your own stuff? I’m not saying that this is a bad ide, far from it, but unleashing your own creativity is even better. Bussi

    • Hi Sabine! Oh yeah, I can agree with the doodling your own stuff, but the fact that this is all put together in a really gorgeous diary and beautifully presented is really creative. And it makes writing a diary or scent diary or journal good fun. I like keeping a rural and have many from over the years. At least this one is full of perfume notes, the others are full of manic thoughts and how to deal with wayward children. Haahahahahahaha. Bussis back. 🙂

  3. What a great idea! Let’s take it a step further and actually scent the page (would need a glassine envelope for that). Wouldn’t it be great to go back in time and pull out a scented drawing and be reminded of a particular day?

    • Hey Maggie M. I see know reason not to randomly spray some of the pages anyway. Although I guess it might make the whole diary smell. Hmmmmm. I love the idea. I’ll try a few drops of something on a page and see what happens! Hugs. xxxx

  4. Oh cool! I draw very poorly, and don’t enjoy it, but MAN I can color the heck outta stuff. I did buy my college-age daughter one of those adult coloring books, as a stress-reliever, but she has not reported on it (and honestly would prefer a dog in her dorm room, but that’s not happening).

I do keep track of my SOTD with the blog, so I wouldn’t *neeeeed* a diary to do it… on the other hand, I don’t *need* all this perfume, either…

    • Neither of my kids ever got back to me about their colouring books either. THAT is exactly what I loved about this. A colouring book to actually use. The paper quality i really good, and there is enough space to keep whatever kind of journal you chose. I think your blog more than covers SOTD !! Love Val xxxxx

    • The best thing about it is keeping proper record of what I wear. Will be interesting to see what I have worn at the end of the year. xxx

  7. Val, I LOVE my sotd diary, and color in it daily. Curiously enough, the very first one I colored was THAT Neela! LOL! Siblings of different patents, clearly!❤❤❤

    • Hi Honey! You lost me. What Neela? Or did you mean Vero? Whatever, I would love to be your sister, so that´s enough for me. Hope you are ok. Bussis. xxxxxx 🙂

  8. Never mind your SOTD diary, which I agree is a fun concept, and potentially very therapeutic, will you check out those pencils! Wow – what a fine set. I don’t believe I have any coloured pencils any more. I sense knitting with different coloured wools may scratch the colouring itch in me. But I wholeheartedly endorse the turning off of the iPad at night. Not that I have one, or turn off my equivalent phone, but I do endorse the idea. 😉

    • Hi Vanessa! I bought the pencils especially for colouring! Aquarelle. They are gorgeous. I did not have a single coloured pencil in the house. And I really intend to use the diary as a record of all my scented adventures and SOTDs over the next few years. So I feel quite justified. And I have to ad, that as well as being fun, the diary is really lovely! xxx

  9. I keep my perfume wearing/testing records in the database for every day of the last 6+ years, so I wouldn’t need diary for that purpose but I love the idea and might still buy one as a planner/notebook: I think I’ll enjoy looking at those pictures while writing down something that has absolutely nothing to do with perfumes.
    Thank you, Val! 🙂

  10. Thanks for reminding me about the scent diary Val. Great idea – i keep meaning to start a database with what perfumes i wear but this may be the way to go and to get my colouring pencils and crayons out and do some mindful doodling! cheers – Patsi 🙂

    • Hey Pats. I find it much easier just to pick up a pen and write it down. And I can improve on the originals with my own colour schemes. ❤
