Hiya Scented People,
Noticing a great deal on by Kilian at SurrenderToChance in a DailyChanceSpecial I snapped up a couple and the first I’ll be talking about is Sweet Redemption. I have not really delved into the world of by Kilian yet because I thought it was so expensive that an addiction could send me to the poor house, having done the math it is pricey but not extreme.
Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
African orange flower, opoponax, incense, benzoin, vanilla and myrrh
The grandson of the founder of the LVMH group, Kilian Hennessy grew up in the family’s wine cellars and has brought that boozy reminiscence of sensuality that cognac has to this fragrance. I am not saying it smells like cognac but the glorious rich intoxicating blending that makes you want to swirl and sniff your balloon works similarly here.

I was wearing this for an hour or so today before I looked up the accords. Who knew an African orange flower smelled this good? You’ll have to look elsewhere for someone to parse the notes in Sweet Redemption, it’s too perfectly proportioned. Yes I smell lovely, sexy white flower and the vanilla/ambery background noise. I get a slightly smokey scent throughout and something sweet but licorice sweet not honey sweet, maybe sweet chilli sweet? I can’t tell you what these things are but I can tell you that I smell incredible. This is a magical, hefty, slightly dirty, good time cha cha cha of a fragrance. I want to pop on a flirty frock, some killer high heels, hair up, morals down and get my gorgeous smelling self out to see the world. Which is not to say that I smell cheap, NO WAY! I smell like a million dollars. Like cognac diamonds shimmer. Rich, sparkly, gregarious, Sweet Redemption wants to get out there and get herself noticed, not by shouting, obnoxious or bad behaviours but by being alluring, likeable, slightly sexy but not vampish, confident and ready for good things to happen, to make good things happen to everyone around and self. OH DEAR! I think I am seriously in love with this juice.
I wore Sweet redemption to work tonight. There is a guy there who is quite a perfumista and he didn’t even blink, usually he is the first to notice a fragrance, but I was stopped by 2 of the ladies that I would never expect to even think about fragrance asking what it was, who by, where to get it. Surreal. One other full table compliment from a bunch of girls that I adore! It has maintained its integrity but grown slightly deeper, warmer and softer; not much though.
Now I’ve done some cleaning up around the house, fed and watered the pets, chatted with TSO Jin, written some blog and it’s 6+ hours since my last spritz and I am still fragrant, warm, rich and delicious. I smell like a warm sweet milky coffee feels after a good day (I’ve just sat down at the computer with one and it is SOOOO good), when you’re tired but not buggered, happy with the days events. A comfortable spicy vanilla and myrrh, ready to hit the hay because early in the morning I’m off on a short plane flight for an overnight gig.

Gorgeous review! I’ve tried only one Kilian in my life which is Prelude to Love… I though it was nice but not groundbreaking. A good neroli scent with a touch of iris. I don’t know why I didn’t try to sample more… Probably because they’re expensive, far too expensive for me to spend my money on them.

They are pricey but compared to some others, not extreme. I think sampling is best!

Of course sampling is best. Currently I’m not buying samples to save up more money on full bottles (I’ve got a list of few I need to buy) but I might sample some Kilian once in a while

This addiction is quite all consuming, isn’t it?

Well, I wouldn’t say that I’m addicted. It’s just that I’m a student and my studies take so much time that I not able to have a part-time job, the only money I have is a scholarship, so I have to save to afford a bottle. I don’t buy more than 4 bottles a year.

You’ll be surprised how many of them do. Remember to be very clear when asking the universe to bring you stuff, unfortunately she has a sense of humour with an ironic tinge.
So I wish for you to be a very successful, critically and financially, perfumer who is satisfied with his life and generally content. With a great group of friends and enough time and money to enjoy the fruits of his labours into a healthy old age.

I received a sample set of these when they were offered on the Facebook page. Since they arrived all at once I quickly became overwhelmed with trying them. I think my favorite from the L’oeuvre Noir series is Cruel Intentions. But over all I am more in love with the Arabian Nights scents. Completely in love with Rose Oud and own a travel set of Incense Oud. I am going to need to revisit this one.

I am now intrigued to find out more about this house Tatiana, I have 2 more to try in my current samples and then I think I will get some more. If the rest is as good as Sweet redemption I think I may be lost,

I just got the sample set…… Loving Love and Tears on me right now. it’s less jasmine than Nuda by Nasomatto (which was too much for me), but more than the usual “jasmine mixed with other things”. I’m a jasmine newbie though.
I also loved “Love”, but I’m a gourmand girl to the bone.
Cant wait to try the one you reviewed, you make everything you like sound scrumptious! 😀

I haven’t tried this one yet. I have sampled Liasons Dangerous, which I know I just misspelled but you know the one I’m talking about. Anyway, it did not work on me. Brought to mind Patty from the posse’s Tampax fresh accord. In the vial and on paper I like it but on my skin, ewwww. Not so much.

HA HA HA HA!! Tampax accord? Before or after???

It’s true that many of Kilian’s fragrances are much more affordable than it seems at first. There are travel sets (though I wonder if the glass is a little too fragile without the fancy travel holder), and refill bottles that are a lot less. I have a sample of Sweet Redemption, but haven’t tried it on my skin yet. I was going to work my way through the whole love story, but your review makes me think that I should start at the end of the story first!
Thanks for the beautiful write-up!

I haven’t tried the rest yet and didn’t even realise there was a love story till I began researching my post. I would have done it in order had I known, I wonder though if I was meant to try this one first. It is so me,

Sometimes it just works out that way 🙂 I’m actually one of those weird people who wants to know how something ends before I read the book. That way I can focus on the structure of the story and the beauty of the prose without being anxious about what happens next.
So for me, Sweet Redemption is not a bad way to begin!

OMG!! I could never do that. I get so involved in a book that if I finish it and start it again next day I will still be surprised by what happens. I am a goldfish.

I’m behind my reading. Coincidentally I just tested it yesterday (not for the first time) because I wanted to compare it to Seville a l’aube.
Sweet Redemption is a little too sweet for me in the opening. Several hours into the wear I like it much more but first fifteen-twenty minute are a little too intence. I have a couple of samples of this perfume so I’ll wear it a couple of times more but I do not think it’ll be love. Even though your enthusiasm is contagious 😉
