We are in South Korea and I reckon having the time of our lives.

Righto!
So I am running INCREDIBLY late with stuff for this holiday and my mind has turned to mush. Instead of writing a post I thought I could ask you all for your input:

What Book Recommendations Can You Give Me For Bus, Train, Plane or any Public Transport? Do you choose technical stuff so you can learn on the trip, self help or growth books, a thriller or a novel, maybe an autobiography? Please give me an insight into your travel reading past and future? Is it fragrance, travel, silliness or maybe you like those crossword books?

If I’m on a long-haul flight (think over 6 hours), I’ll bring fiction with me, preferably historical fiction like Adam Johnson’s The Orphan Master’s Son, for instance (which is a brilliant book, check it out!). Those kinds are bound to keep me deeply engrossed for hours on end, which I need so that I won’t focus on my motion-sickness.

  2. a long long flight, packed with other people and other people’s perspectives is a great time to reread anything by Leo Buscaglia… you might even get off that flight actually in love with those other people and other perspectives. 😉

  3. I usually take my backlog of magazines to work through. When I finish one, I leave it for the next person to find, and it lightens my load.

    I really enjoyed reading the Golem and the Djinni! While traveling I usually play catch up on non fiction. I pack novels (like the Wecker above) as a reward for finishing the other. Happy Trails!

  5. I take New Yorker magazines, mysteries like Gone Girl, or Daniel Silva or Michael Connelly..mindless page turners. I’m not a sci-fi girl

  6. I get so antsy on planes that I must take a wealth of stuff with me so as not to go completely stir crazy. I love mysteries, so I usually have one or two of those with me. I also take magazines, puzzle books/magazines, and games (on my phone).With all that, I’m good for 2-4 hours 🙂 If I ever go on a longer plane ride, I’ll probably have to be sedated! Have a great trip!!!

  7. I usually pack my kindle full of a mix of things, and I will also probably take my backlog of Economist magaines with me as well on my next trip 🙂

    I like to read books set in, or about, other countries when I’m travelling.

    My favourite book about Australia and its indigenous people is The Songlines by Bruce Chatwin. I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it already.
