Hello lovely APJ Crew,
Over the next few Sundays we we”ll be able to watch these 3 wonderful documentaries. You’ll need to grab a cuppa/juice/wine and maybe some breakfast/lunch/dinner and settle in for an hour, there are no ad breaks but you can pause and come back through your Sunday. Two of the fragrances talked about in the doco are Guerlain’s Shalimar Parfum Initial and Loud by Hilfiger. We watch as Loud is released for the first time and go through the creation of it. Also we get a rare glimpse into Thierry Wasser’s rise to the head perfumer at Guerlain, and the fall of Jacques Guerlain. Very interesting.

Thanks for this great link. I’m in the UK and must have missed this so i’m really grateful for the link. Thanks APJ!
And by the way I love Thierry Wasser because he makes all these flankers as he’s contracted to, but has the guts to moan about having to produce a ridiculous number of them and I totally agree with him! Way to many flankers coming out faster than anyone can keep up and yet not many original game changers.
How refreshing to hear a respected professional speaking the truth.

Hey there Samantha,
I’m so glad you enjoyed this video.
I too find Thierry Wasser’s frank appraisal of his situation, from go to whoa, wonderful. His beautiful, respectful friendship with the last of the great Guerlains is charming also.

Portia! I love this doco. Did you almost lose it when you saw them trowelling all that orris butter into the Shalimar?

I really enjoyed this but I feel sorry about the end. What about being loyal even when someone makes a mistake etc? I’m gonna go douse myself in Hermes.

Hey Minnie,
Thierry did and has remained loyal. He talks that their friendship will continue but that sadly he can have nothing to do with Guerlain the company. I thought it was very sensitive that Thierry wanted to hold onto the beautiful friendship even though his mentor had become outdated in his speech.
Hermes is the ultimate cure all, of course.

Oh, I love this documentary! Thank you so much for posting it so I can watch it again. It is totally fascinating but of course it makes me want to buy every frag ever made. This docu introduced me to CB I Hate Perfumes. Being a good little classicist, I had never conceived of anything like what Christopher Brosius does. It blew my alleged mind!
