Hi there APJ Crew,

Today I have a carry on story from Catherine de Peloux-Menage’s introduction to the Le Galion range. We were lucky enough to get to meet the head of the new Le Galion, Nicolas Chabot, while he was in Sydney and I loved the story of his finding the old fragrance house and resurrecting it with the help of it’s founders Daughter and the perfumer. Quite a beautiful and romantic beginning or re-emergence.

  2. I love the idea of resurrected scents. I think that’s part of the appeal of perfumes like Creed’s, supposedly made for Elisabeth of Austria, Empress Josephine etc. Would love to try one of the Galions. I follow by email. 🙂

    I have never tried any of the Le Galion perfumes. But I love the fact that the house is being resurrected. A few of the classics are doing this, Jean Patou for instance. To me, it’s very welcomed. Me…I follow this fabulous blog via email! xoxoxoxo Steve

  6. My first boyfriend gave me a bottle of Sortilege in the 70’s and it was absolutely divine! I’d barely used a third of it when I dropped it on the bathroom tiles and my beautiful perfume smashed into a thousand pieces. Sortilege was discontinued soon after. I have thought of this fragrance many, many times and I would love to smell it again.

  7. I’m honestly so glad that we don’t get to choose because I would never manage it- they all sound so appealing and I’m naturally a bit indecisive. My Mom and I have some nips of Le Galion scents, but they haven’t aged the best. Still very sad that nips have gone out of style, and of course trying them was an adventure and some great mom-time. It may be the Sortilege didn’t jive with me because of the bitter aldehydes, which I have a hard time loving. I like them more effervescent (Chanel No. 22) or sweeter (Baghari). Others with aldehydes too bitter for me were Arpege and the opening of Nostalgie.

  8. Are the Oriza LeGrand considered resurrected? Love their Heliotrope Blanc. Have never tried Le Galion, but would jump at the chance–Sortilege is certainly iconic. I follow APJ by email, and many thanks for the draw!

  9. Good Morning! I follow APJ by email and I was absolutely delighted when two years ago I came across a small bottle of Le Galion Jasmin. I was saddened when I realized white florals don’t like my skin and I swapped it for abottle of Angel. Thank you for the giveaway!

    I’m really curious about Snob. I have a small decant of vintage Sortilège–delicious. My mother had a friend with a nice perfume collection.She was very generous about letting her niece and me (aged about 10) spritz her fragrances. The one I remember most was Sortilège. We felt so grown-up!

  13. Following by email. Don’t have any Le Galion memories but hope to encounter Sortilege in my vintage ventures. As for resurrections, I’m curious about the Helmut Langs as I missed them the first time around, and I’d love to see Casaque by Jean D’Albret — so lovely in my memory.

  18. Follow by email, LOVE the story of Le Galion resurrection! Hmmmm….quite honestly I can’t think of a single house that I’ve discovered that’s come back. They’re either dead as Dodo’s of still thriving. However I DO love that some of the bigger houses are bringing back old favorites! Chanel comes to mind, as well as my beloved Guerlain.

  19. I follow by email and have a fun “resurrected” scent story. There was an indie perfumer I followed on Etsy. She made Caterpillar’s Pipe and Garden of Graves (talk about resurrected). I loved these. She sold her shop and the new person is not making these two. I am in mourning.

    I follow by e-mail and Bloglovin. I vaguely remember the old Sortilege. It was too much for me when I was young but I think that old beauty might suit me just fine these days. It would be interesting to smell the new version.

  21. I follow by email. My favorite resurrected perfume is probably Piguet’s Baghari. I don’t know what the vintage smells like but the re-issued version is glorious – an aldehyde explosion with beautiful floral heart.

We still have 4 micro-mini Le Galion, gold screw capped bottles that I was given in 1st grade – they were washed clean, so I tinted each a different pastel watercolor :-)Ships stamped on caps` tops! Also have 4, 1/3 oz edt minis w/ labels from the 70`s/Harper`s Bazaar promo 🙂 SO glad this house is revived!! we follow a la blog, FB, email THANK U!! 🙂

    I have never tried Le Galion so I am very excited about this draw! My favorite resurrected scent is DSH Scent of Hope which is supposedly s recreation of Iris Gris. Oriza L. Legrand is also a great resurrected brand with Chypre Mousse being my quirky favorite.

    I have never tried this range or heard of Le Galion but am intrigued.
    I would love to have known what scents were used and were popular during the days of ancient Greece ..imagine a scent recreated from those days .. i would like to think of a pure oil perhaps a jasmine with neroli.
    I recently tried Gin Fiz by lupin which has been resurrected from the 50s .. and is fast becoming a current favourite.

  34. I think I made it in here before the time cut-off – I remember Sortilege from long ago. I had a little bottle of it and liked it. I am glad there is a re-emergence of these perfumes. Always great to see something like this from the past come back so that we can try them and enjoy them again. I follow via RSS Feedly.

  35. I follow via e-mail. I am not familiar with Le Galion, but the perfumes sound interesting. I love that some traditional houses, like Jean Patou, put old classics back on the market.I am less fond of those not-quite-true stories of perfume dating back to this or that queen or princess.

  36. I’ve not come across any Le Galion, would love to though. With all that I’ve read about Gobin Daude fragrances, I’d love it if they were available again. I don’t think I’ve come across any resurrected scents either. I follow by email and Mr Reader.
