Salzberg to London to Innsbuck. A crazy perfumed week. In pictures.

It really is too warm here in the middle of Europe to write much. Looking at pictures is less strenuous. And by warm, I mean hot. Yesterday was 40 degrees in Vienna and my flip-flops stuck to the hot pavements.

I went to London with Hannah, sometimes known as The BlondesWunder. The trip was documented by Tara on our favourite Olfactoria´s Travels, and by Pia on the wonderful Volatile Fiction. After returning from England, I drove to Innsbruck with my trusty therapist Dr. Fox for a lunch date with Vero Kern. I will share a few of our photos.

I am grateful for the perfumed friendships I have formed. They enrich my life and add a vibrancy that would otherwise be missing.

  1. This is wonderful. A marvellous record of a fun time with so many of the great characters from our perfume community. I particularly like the photo of Hannah turning her nose up at something she has smelt.

  2. Yes, I’m with V, this is wonderful, Val. So many great pics. I never fail to get a thrill from re-living these meet-ups. I was so lucky to get to see you again so soon too. I hear the temp has now dropped. Just my luck to visit during the hottest Vienna July ever – it didn’t spoil it for a second though. Who needs sleep? 🙂

    Oh and Isi looks like he is totally blissed out!

    I love seeing the pics and imagining the great fun your meet-ups are. I would love to meet so many of the people who I know from blogs, and I’m sure that will happen eventually. Keep me posted on your adventures!

    I’m looking forward to DC’s opening of Shoshana (Ari from Scents of Self) in September, and the perfumistas in the area and up and down the east coast will be coming to the opening.

    • Hi Holly! If I was anywhere near DC I would be there like a shot. I will be in New York, which is nearer than Austria but still won´t work out! Seriously – how freaking exciting is that? Shoshana. Gorgeous name. I hope you are gonna write about the opening and take some pictures. You will eventually meet people. It has only happened for me in the last couple of years – life after 50. Hahahahaha. xxxxxxxx

    My dream meeting place would be Milan, though I would be happy wherever and whenever I can get to see any of you lovely perfumistas.

    • I think Milan should be possible. Perhaps if people know a year in advance or so we could do it? I know a decent hotel, great breakfast, and near the show, that we can stay in. Plus it has a really affordable working man´s cafeteria behind it. Cheap and nice quality. It can be done on a relative shoestring once you are there. Problem is getting there of course. Hmmmm. xxxx

  10. What a fab photo essay Val! It just makes me so happy to hear meet up stories, & I love the pics. This time next year I will be there too. $$ are being horded for the trip.

    Maybe one day a Sydney meet up, too. Fingers crossed.

  11. I think my dream place for meeting perfume people would be Sydney, just because I dream of travelling there after hearing so much about it from friends. But the next journey abroad is more likely to go to Vienna, Berlin or Paris. It looks so fun to meet up, thank you for sharing the photos!

    While waiting for a meetup,I am enjoing some of this year’s Marillenkonfitüre (spelling?), so colourful and fragrant. I have to say Lower Autria must have some of the best apricots in Europe, just wish I had been there to eat them also fresh from the tree.
