Manifesto by YSL Mini Movie

Heya Perfumistas,
Do you remember having a Kaleidoscope? My Mum knew that no matter how naughty or outrageous I was being that the Kaleidoscope would shut me up. Bored? Kaleidoscope. Cranky? Kaleidoscope. Couldn’t sleep? Kaleidoscope. It was the universal cure all for a while at Chez Turbo. Sadly it didn’t last but sometimes I wish I had one, just to remember the magic.

  1. Beautiful Mini Movie. Thank you, Portia! I still love kaleidoscopes! I don’t have one right now but I think I need one again. It doesn’t have to be one of those fancy wooden ones that sit on a stand on a coffee table. Cardboard would be just fine. The effect is still the same.

And what a great idea to represent fragrance with a kaleidoscope of color. I wonder if Manifesto is as good as its mini movie.

    • Hey there Azar,
I found Manifesto to be extremely synthetic, fleeting and boring but that was one spritz in a department store as I was on my way to something else. Honesty compels me to admit I didn’t give it a real chance.
      I will investigate…
And YES to the kaleidoscope, me too.

  2. Haven’t sampled Manifesto, but resonated to your memories of kaleidoscopes. Once upon a time there was a kaleidoscope shop near our current house, with everything from the totally unaffordable to the cardboard. All too lovely for words. Here’s to the retinal orgasm, and also the olfactory orgasm. Isn’t that why we’re all talking?

  3. As I child I loved kaleidoscopes! I even tried to find one recently (just out of nostalgia) but I just couldn’t make myself to buy another “Made in China” porly made object. But when I find a nicely made kaleidoscope I’ll buy it.

Nice movie. The perfume though didn’t leave any lasting impression.

  4. When cleaning out the remaining toys from the child who’s gone off to college, the one toy I could not part with was the kaleidoscope. Just an inexpensive cardboard one, but I can sit and be mesmerized for a long, long time peering into it.
I’ve only sniffed Manifesto on paper. It wasn’t too horribly offensive, but it wasn’t something worth spending hard earned money on either.
    Thanks for the film.

  5. Agree with Portia, Manafesto was boring and nothing special to me. I didn’t expect i would like it, i really try to keep an open mind just in case.
