Fragrances of the World 2015: 31st Annual Edition

Hi there APJ Crew,

Every year a new and improved version of our Fragrance Bible is released by Fragrances Of the World. This years cover is the prettiest shade of mint green ever and I can’t wait to add it to my collection. The cover is the least impressive thing about this book though. Michael Edwards knowledge and years in the industry are what makes this so special.

Book Launch:

Fragrances of the World 2015

The Fragrance Bible ®

31st Annual Edition

Fully Revised and Updated

In 2014, more than 1600 new perfumes appeared on the market. How to keep track?

Fragrances Of the World 2015 Front Cover Hi Res

Fragrances Of the World continues to be the leading guide for fragrance classification. Universally regarded as the ‘bible’ of perfumery, independent and impartial, unsurpassed in both its research and scope, this is the definitive reference trusted by perfumers, executives, journalists, retailers, collectors and shoppers worldwide.

“For me, Fragrances of the World is more than a guide book,” says Sumit Bhasin, Head of P&G Prestige’s Creative Development team. “It is the reference book for our industry. Michael’s in-depth knowledge combined with the very factual and up-to-date of fragrance references, makes it the go-to guide. Both the book and the online databank are widely used by my team.”

Hanuš Wolf, owner of Burgins Perfumery says “The guide has proved an invaluable sales tool. I introduced the Fragrance Bible as a tool to offer a level of service previously unknown to York, and within the first week alone, the incremental sales more than paid for the Fragrance Bible.”

Michael Edwards 2015

It all began 31 years ago when fragrance expert Michael Edwards created an annual guide to help perfume retailers advise their customers. The book organises perfumes into 14 fragrance families – including Woods, Oriental, Floral, Fruity and Citrus – and even more subfamilies from which to choose. Refreshed weekly the online databank provides current and up to date details on new launches, while the annual guide book is an iconic sales tool with current and historic references at your fingertips.

Around the world people are consulting Fragrances Of the World:

“You wear J’Adore by Dior? Now let’s see. That’s a citrus fruity floral. You should try In Love Again by Yves Saint Laurent.”

“Your enduring favourite is Terre d’Hermès? That’s a crisp woods. Try Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf.”

“Your signature fragrance is Chloé but would like to try something new for day wear? That’s a classical rose floral. La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens is the new one for her.”

2015: The Universal Number of 8

.

Post by Suzanne R Banks

.

Hi APJ,

Happy 2015. Last year I wrote about The Universal Number of 7! In this article I wrote about meeting a numerologist and apart from being totally wonderful and charming, she was very insistent I write about the number 7. So following on from that meeting lets see what’s in store for us next year.

2015: The Universal Number of 8

2015 8 MetroDF_Linea_8 WikimediaPhoto Stolen Wikimedia

In numerology the number 8 represents where we are in our journey, through the cycle of 1 to 9. So with 2015, equaling 8, we are almost at the end of the cycle.

I’ve always associated the number 8 with abundance and money, but the more I read about it the more I realise these are simplifications. There are many kinds of numerology out there and just as many interpretations, so what I can gather about the number 8 and our year in 2015 is:

* 8 is as much about karmic balance and the Law of Cause and effect than it is about money

* the energy of the infinity sign gives us strength and allows us to express our leadership qualities

* we are confident and fair to others

* we can access our personal power (without too much ego) which can not only help others but can also help us reap the benefits of the past 7 years of hard work

* we may have more abundance and money in our lives but it is less important to us than before

* the number 8 is about balance and a greater expression of money vs abundance

* if we are truly living up to the number 8 we can feel and express the need to help those around us

So what essential oils can we use to meld with the number 8?

1. Sandalwood (Indian or Australian)

– see the needs of the many are met through social awareness throughout the world

– feel your spirit rise within you and overflow to help those in need

2. Cypress

– inspiration and creativity without the need for ego

– clarity and worldliness, softness

3. Patchouli

– world peace

– connect to mother earth

4. Vetiver

– tranquility, abundance

5. Rosewood

– flow of love through the heart chakra

– true “affluence” (meaning “to flow”)

– this is an endangered tree so please see my article Rosewood – A Story of Ecology and Conservation for more info

– Indian rosewood could be used vin its place – Dalbergia sissoo I MUST Have You!

Good luck.

Best wishes.

PEACE.

Remember to treat yourself first, then everyone will benefit.

NEW YEAR COMING: Welcome 2015!

Here It Comes!!

A new year! 2015. Which adds up to 8 in numerology, excellent number 8. Not only is it lucky but it looks like infinity and they say if you start things in an 8 year that they are more likely to succeed. Maybe that’s true.

Liberte by Cacharel FragranticaPhoto Stolen Fragrantica

Before we get to the resolutions and wishes you’ll be asking what I will be wearing to New Years Eve for 2015? The answer is Liberte by Cacharel, its fun and fizzy BarBQ citrus is exactly what I would like to smell like to ring in the new year. What will you be wearing and why?

NEW YEAR COMING: Welcome 2015!

2015 geralt PixabayPhoto Stolen Pixabay

Let’s take a little moment to reflect on 2014 and the years before it, are there some repeat bad choices, ways of acting or reacting, or even outlooks that could do with some fine tuning? How can we make our close environment a better place or less toxic? What about the greater environment, are there things we can do to help?

Portia’s 2015 New Years Resolution

Seriously try to minimise my footprint on this beautiful earth. Already we recycle, we upcycle to charity in the forms of unwanted clothes and furniture, we buy about as much as we can eat and use (except in my fragrance addiction), by using public transport and our motor bikes more we are minimising our fuel consumption and I am going to cut down my meat consumption a little too, maybe save it for eating out. We are also committing to a travel moratorium except to see Jin’s family.

Another resolution is that I will try to be more content with my amazing life. Also to treat the wonderful people I get to live it with as well as they deserve.

I will continue to cull the people and situations from my life that are toxic. If my life is full of rubbish then there’s no room for amazing to come along. Definitely trying for a life filled with as much amazing as possible.

2015 is a year where I will try to cut myself a little slack. I will try and forgive myself the mistakes I have and will make and let them go. Learn from them and move on.

New Year Wishes

What I wish for all you wonderful APJ family is a year filled with peace and prosperity, a year where only our good dreams come true, a year where we are productive and acknowledged for our hard work, a year at the end of which we can sit back between Christmas and New Year and be proud of our achievements and content where we are in our life. I wish for us all a year where every day we have something to be grateful for and that there are some people in out circles that are grateful that they have us.

I am proud to be among you as a friend and fragrance buddy. Thank you for sharing your time, hobby, passion and life.
Sending out a huge cyber hug to you all.
Happy New Year
