What’s Your SOTD?

Heya Crew,

Anne-Marie is snowed under at work and feeling less than 100% so I’m filling for her today. Fingers crossed for her triumphal return in a fortnight.  We love you Anne-Marie. XX

What’s Your SOTD?

SOTD, SOTE, SOTM, SOTBed???? This acronym had me completely baffled when I first hit the online scent world. It is used everywhere from blogs to Facebook pages and has now become so much part of the fragrance communities conversation that I forget at one point it was meaningless to me.

S.O.T.D. = Scent Of The Day

S.O.T.E. = Scent Of The Evening

S.O.T.M. = Scent Of The Morning

S.O.T.Bed. = Scent Of The Bed

So though Anne-Marie is not with us today I know she will be reading all our replies avidly so let’s include her by telling her exactly what fragrance we are wearing and which acronym applies.

Agent Provocateur Agent Provocateur FragranticaFragrantica

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Coriander, Saffron
Heart: Gardenia, Jasmine, Magnolia, Rose, Ylang-ylang
Base: Amber, Musk, Vetiver

So as this post goes live it is S.O.T.E. for me, I have finished work, taken my drag and makeup off and have spritzed over my work scent for tonight which was Mohur by Neela Vermeire Creations with the original Agent Provocateur rose/saffron/woods in the pink egg (I really need to review this baby, it’s becoming a firm favourite. So I thought it was a patchouli frag HA HA HA!) If I was leaving a comment this is how it would look. SOT? acronym, Fragrance, Brief description.

SOTE: Agent Provocateur: Rose/saffron/woods bomb in the pink egg that smells like it has modern patchouli in it to me. Love how this seems to shimmer around me. I imagine people’s noses catching my sillage as I walk past and them looking up from whatever they’re doing to see who smells so good.

So please get on board and drop your Scent Of The Whatever into the comments.

Get work sorted and well Anne-Marie

  1. Sympathy being sent to Anne-Marie…
My nose has been clogged up and apathetic for a week too. A week! No scent!
Tonight I felt like Epic Woman body lotion as my SOTbed. Welcome back limbic system.

  2. Hi gorgeous.

Big fan of AP and I managed to score a bottle of, yet to be opened, limited Diamond Dust edition which Mr. Turin says is better. Maybe we should open it together and I can see the extra sparkle would suit your job and personality.

I went to see Absoultely Fabulous movie tonight and my SOTE was the newly acquired Cuir X by La Parfumerie Moderne because I feel like wearing something bit unexpected.

Enjoy your SOTE and looking forward to Anne-Marie’s return.

  3. Recovering from migraine! Get better soon Anne-Marie (gorgeous scarf and outfit!). SOTDafter migraine Neroli Laura Mercier, courtesy of Ann S. Soft and calming, lovely. No FB needed though, this catergory is filled in my collection.

    • Hi Hamamelis,
Get well. My Mum used to get terrible migraines, hope yours dissipates without aftershocks.

    • Thanks! That scarf is one of my most worn. Funny, I paid just a few dollars for it in an op. (thrift) shop.

  4. SOTD is Cuir de Russie EDT again. Trying to talk myself out of the big bottle (because $!), but perfumista paranoia is working its magic and telling me that I will regret it big time if I have to pay more for a reformulation down the road. On me it smells of soft, clean, slightly soapy suede and on my husband it smells of cattle pens and manure. I wonder if I actually smell like dirty cow butt to everybody else? Perhaps everybody I pass does the “did I step in something” shoe check a la the beginning of Clue.

    • Hiya MikasMinion,
If you have the funds and this is the iteration you like…..
BUT I am wondering if the step up to EdP will fix some of the longevity issues?

  5. Hi Portia,
My SOTD is a leftover SOS, lingering into Sunday, a combo of Shalimar cologne and Curve Kicks. Believe it or not, quite pleasant. Be well, Anne Marie and rest up if possible!

    • Hey Azar,
Sounds like an excellent combo, does it add some extra citrus fizz to the Shalimar?

  6. My SOTD is Mona di Orio’s dark and dirty Nuit Noire, and due to a malfunctioning sprayer nozzle on my sample bottle I can only really detect it on my fingertips (despite several hand washes)! So I’ve been sniffing my fingers all day… 😀

    • Hey Hanna,
LOVE Nuit Noire, have a bottle here somewhere. YUMMO!

  7. My SOTD: is Boucheron Trouble. I kept putting off buying this one even though I loved it. Then they discontinued it…and finally I was able to snag a bottle! 🙂 It’s lovely!

    • Hey Ciel!
Trouble is one of my all time favourites. Just recently I grabbed some body wash so next time I empty one of my bath time beauties it’s going into the rotation.

Today, I am in vintage Guerlain Chant d’Aromes in the round flacon montre.

  9. Hi Portia,

SOTD is 2 x sprays each of “Salome” by Papillon and “Dzongkha” by L`Artisan Parfumeur and a spray of a French rose pillow spray in my hair : ) A few have said I smell like a temple.

Maybe you smell like a hot, sweaty gardener raking composted poop through the roses?

  10. Thanks everyone! That’s so sweet! Many thanks to Portia for filling in at the last minute. I am much better now, and back on schedule with a new post for APJ to appear in a fortnight or so.

But oh dear ! I don’t greatly care for Agent Provocateur, judging at least by the sample I have. Maybe I should just pick up a bottle and hope to love it one day. Those eggs are cheap enough online. I love egg-shaped bottles.

    • You’re welcome Anne-Marie,
If you don’t love it, don’t buy it. Surely there’s enough on your list you do love.
Excited to have you back in a fortnight.
