Here is an easy Iris, brought to you by my mate Lesley at L’Occitane Australia. If you have drama with iris as a not I think this could be your gateway drug. I like it a lot, there is considerable air in my bottle already so I thought I should share the love today

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Citruses, black currant
Heart: Iris pallida, Florentine iris, ylang-ylang, peach, fig
Base: White musk, cedar
Sparkly blackcurrent and citrus, sharp and sweet but not sickening. Fun but a gentle fun, not let’s go crazy. A really nice use of blackcurrent that only hints at its often challenging super screechy urinous roar and the citrus meets powderish iris with a cool pithy cloak that cools Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc considerably after the opening fanfare. The peach has a nice nod to Mitsouko and even the fig is noticeable: giving its softly milky fruit ripeness to the mix. Iris here giving both cardboard, root and airy fresh breadery (I invented a word!).
Maybe I’m having a good nose day or maybe previously I have merely been along for the ride but opening and heart notes all seem to be in order and accounted for. This is lovely and very enjoyable for a couple of hours. The white musks in the base are nothing new, a clean and simple old theme that is very nice but not nearly as interesting as the opening and heart. Totally wearable though and excellent for work or movies. Perfect gift for a person who likes fragrance but is not a hard core perfumista.

In other news I just received these freaking amazing 10 ml Decant Bottles from China.
Thing is, I need some people to volunteer to try them for me before I buy hundreds, so I’m going to fill 3 with Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc and I will send them to you in little baggies. I would love it if you’d throw them in your bag, spritz, use, handle, show everyone and then give me feedback on how well they performed. You into it? See below. To re-use them pop some white vinegar in and squirt it through then squirt loads of fresh warm water. Leave them to dry and go again.

Iris is not a note I usually gravitate to in a fragrance, however I really love it in 28 La Pausa – Chanel and Iris de nuit – Heely. Iris de nuit just smells so pure to me, It’s not complex with other florals or spices.
I’ve yet to try the L’occatine fragrances.
Also, those decants look super funky!

For me it’s an easy question. It’s Dior Homme Intense. I have gone through several bottles of that lovely juice. Pre and post reformulation. Makes me feel soooo comfortable.

I’ve smelled L’Occitane’s Iris, and I’ve found it lovely myself.
I also love Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist for its originality and masculine touch, as well as Xerjoff Iriss for its gorgeous femininity.

Hi Portia,
I am still searching for the perfect iris. My favorite iris scent is the iris right out of the blossom – cool, very lightly sweet, refreshing and ethereal. Insects love it too. In order smell it I have to stick my nose way down in the blossom. More than once I’ve sniffed up the same type of tiny fly. Poor me and poor fly! There has to be a better way for both of us! Hi Portia – Any perfumes i have tried have only really had Iris as one of many notes – so i have yet to experience it in its fullness. Maybe on this occasion… ? lol.
Oh and i do love the decant bottles – they look fab. thanks for the tip of cleaning out with vinegar etc.. (and i follow by email and facebook). cheers 🙂

Oooo, they’re the mini plastic versions of the refillable travel sprays that Dior also does for J’adore. I find that if the nozzle is not attached to the external case properly, it will leak. At least, my bottle of J’adore leaked. This one looks safe, because the nozzle and pump are fixed together.

Iris sometimes frightens me. Atelier Silver Iris wasn’t too scary. I don’t think I’ll ever warm up to rooty iris notes like Iris Silver Mist has.

I follow by e mail and my favourite iris fragrance is Lancome’s Aroma Calm of which I have a bottle hoarded away as it is no longer available.It really is calming.

I follow APJ through email. my favorite iris fragrance continues to be Dior Homme original version because it is such a sparkling iris that also made me fall in love with lipstick and makeup notes..i have since tried other with lipstick and makeup vibes such as HDP Moulin Rouge but dior homme vintage is just too much perfection and nothing comes close to it. BUt Moulin Rouge is really artistic and well made creation on its own.

Perhaps not the most original iris frag, but, for me, Infusion d’Iris is just lovely; neither overdone nor overpowering, it never fails to give me a little lift whenever I use it. I follow by email.
