Hello Australian Perfume Junkies and friends, So glad to have you drop by Scent Diary. Grab a cuppa or beverage of choice, sit back and check what has happened, been eaten, spritzed and seen in our lives in Sydney, Australia.
At then end please leave us some comments. What or who did you see, do, eat with. Did you spritz, purchase, have arrivals or finish a sample? What’s happening in your world? If you’re writing or reading opinions, we can disagree but keep it nice and try not to give or take offense. Right now the world needs a web of friendships and connection more than ever. We all have perfume and each other in common. That’s a whole lot.

I was up VERY late watching TV. So slept through my Aquarobics classes. Got up and discovered spring is a bouncing around here in Sydney. Sunshine, warmth and a beautiful breeze. Took Momo straight out for a wee.

Came in to start my Trivia Q&A but lost an hour or so to social media and blogs. No drama.
NOPE! I’m starving. Had lunch. Forgot to take a pic. Soz. Chicken, Carrot, Onion, Hummus Sandwiches. Y U M !
OK, It’s nearly 1pm and I’m finally ready to Trivia Q&A.
Thank everything I had quite a bit of the work already done for this weeks Trivia Q&A. I sat here at the computer with no break or even stand ups and went into flow state. It was like the work was already in my head, I just needed to get it into the computer. Written, printed, emailed to the Queens all before 4.30pm.
Celebrated by opening a new arrival, Obvious Parfums Un Oud. Not a bad synthetic oud. Comfortable, spicy, fungal wood and not a combat zone.

Fed and walked Momo. She was bloody starving. Poor baby.
Read. Chilled.
Jin and I went to the aquatic centre. Jin hit the Body Balance class and gym. I did an AquaZumba class.

Fed and walked Momo.
Berdoues Maasai Mara. It’s turned cool and damp.

Morning Routine: 10 Minutes.
Today is cool and grey. Momo was positively frisky on our early walk this morning.

Berdoues Maasai Mara. WARMING ME UP!

Doing the laundry. Dusting. May vacuum, may not. Let’s see.
Hit the Post Office, there were a few parcels. Nothing perfumed.
Got some blogging done. Social media and emails.
Home. Lunched. Ham & Salad Toasted Bagel. MMMM

Laundry.
Fed Momo. Took her for a wander in the very London-like spitting mist and chilly wind. Beautiful and refreshing. That is the face of a happy pooch.

Jin came home while I was hanging laundry. He’s off to meet a mate.
BUBBLE BATH.

Excellent sugar reading!

Got my Trivia bag together. Ready to rock the week.
We were super busy tonight 107 players! Lots of fun and laughs.

Histoires de Parfums 1969

It’s a cool and cloudy morning. I have a very long list of tasks. Which will probably get ignored. My head is just not in the game.
Last load of laundry for the week. Folding some of the dry stuff
Lunch was same as yesterday Toasted Bagel with Ham & Salad. YUM!
Gisella, who is our girlfriend and lives upstairs, and I did some planting in our backyard strip. We have had some deaths back there over winter and I wanted to give some extra fullness to the established plants. I bought some tube stock because they tend to naturalize and jump start better.
There are four new Leptospermum Starry Night. It’s a beautiful Aussie native that the pollinators adore, doesn’t grow very tall but can broaden out a couple of meters.

One Camellia sasanqua Sparkling Burgundy (three have died while waiting to be replanted, damnit!). It looks bright pink here but the flowers are a pinkish red purple. Fingers crossed we have some success.

Here is Gisella having a plant.

Went to work. It was a bit quiet tonight. we had fun though.

Fed and walked Momo. The spring wildflowers are blooming in the cemetery.

Post Office run. Nothing fragrant. Grabbed a roast chook from the supermarket for lunch tomorrow.
Made some lunch. Carrot sticks and French Onion Dip. HA! PLUS, against all good health and diabetes recommendations I ate an Iced Doughnut with sprinkles. GAH! So good.
Guess which film I decided to watch some of, curled up with Momo on the couch?

A crew of us went to Wentworth Park Greyhound races tonight. Betty, Gisella, Jin and I arrived super early so we snuck off for dumplings. Phil joined us there but I forgot to take a pic with all five of us.

It was a fun crew. Many had never been to the Greyhounds live. The track closes next month so it was a fond farewell for us. We even ran into the trainer who had given us Jinx and Paris. His dog came 5th but he told us it would. Jin did our betting and we won or placed in almost every race. Very cool.
There was hardly anyone else at the venue. We had a party all to ourselves. HEAVEN.

Home. Jin went straight to bed.
Fed and walked Momo.
Tonight is a pre full moon. It’s usually so hard to take pics of. Tonight it wanted to be shot.

The sun is shining so brightly today on my 58th Birthday. I spent the morning making Mum’s Chicken Salad sandwich filling. Headed down to the supermarket to grab a few extra things.
On the way to lunch I picked up Aunty Ann and we met BFF Kath at work. We had a little picnic in the shade.

Home. Quick ablutions.
Jin arrived and fell asleep on the couch.
Serge Lutens Five O’Clock au Gingembre. A perfect fit for a cool Spring night with a full moon and out with my love.

Off to town. Jin drove. Look at that moon!

Jin booked early parking so we could go find some dinner.
Woo Hoo! Tried a brand new Vietnamese. The food was ENORMOUS and the couple that run it so sweet and friendly.

Then we went to Dracula the ballet. It’s a classical juke boxscore, with many of the long time favourite pieces combined into a story. The emphasis was on lifts and tricks, and gymnastic athleticism. There was some lovely dancing from the four ghostesses. They stole the show and every time they hit the stage the whole rooms energy lifted. Also the second lead man floated through the air. He did some really astounding things and made them all look easy, and beautiful. Set, costume and music all good. I came out satisfied.

Home. Jin went straight to bed.
I watched some shit TV.

When he awoke we spent a lovely hour opening everyone’s gifts. What a sensational bunch of loveliness. A couple of fragrant ones included… and SOCKS!

Zara Vetiver Pamplemousse

The Harvest Moon was absolutely stunning this evening.

Then we headed offf for dinner with a few of my mates since teenage years. As we were pulling out of the apartment block Gisella came home so we grabbed her too. Eve and her Mum, Rebecca (one of my teenage girlfriends), Craig (who was a serious heart throb during our school formal years) and his lovely wife Linda. We hit the Freeway Hotel, where I’m hoping we will get a new Trivia soon. It was a lovely evening, so much chatter and catch up. We even got up to dance to the live, one man band.

Came here to do some Scent Diary updating.
Jin decided we needed to go back to the Parramatta Park Wisteria walk before they are done. It’s raining so we were almost the only people there. HEAVEN!

Afterwards we headed over to our favourite Japanese All You Can Eat A La Carte restaurant Okami. We met Kath and TinaG there. Food was consumed. Outrageous amounts. So delicious.

Home. Nap.

Off to work at Lockie’s Hotel tonight.
It was busy and fun. There was a HUGE Birthday Cake! I’ve never seen anything like it. Eve Greentree bought and brought it. The whole venue got some and I brought some home to share with our mates in the building. Emma did the birthday AI and took the photo.

I wore Massai Mara and Five o clock au gingembre this week as well, as the temps cool down for autumn. I was actually cold Friday night at our football game, having taken only a sweatshirt as an outer layer. I am also enjoying some new to me light wears from Fragonard – Figuier and Santal. Figuier is new, but I i think Santal has been around but was briefly discontinued and then rereleased in lovely new packaging. Got them because I have a collection of Fragonard’s Flower of the Year scents and ordered the latest, couldn’t resist a couple of additional things at the price point. Why am I buying more perfume????

Snap on 5O’C too.
HA! The eternal perfumista lament. Glad you got some new Fragonard. I love the house and have sampled loads but never seem to purchase. One day…
What is their flower this year?

definitely love Massai Mara! So good. The flower this year is called L’Air de Grasse – mandarin, rose, peony, jasmine, iris, patch. I haven’t worn it yet but it smelled nice on the quick spray. The bottles are pretty and small enough to store nicely.

YAY! Glad MM is a hit.
I must be living under a rock. How did I not know that Fragonard does an annual LE? It reads beautiful.

Adore those beautiful flowers at the Wisteria Park! Happy birthday dear Portia, may you have another 58 years of happiness. I’m alternating between SL Feminite du Bois and PK perfumes Maderas de Oriente Oscuro. Kinda rushing autumn in Southern California, but I don’t care!

Hey there Morgana62,
Aren’t they magnificent. It was so much fun basically having the area to ourselves, pretending we were lords of the manor.
Thank you.
FdB s an old fave. I hardly ever get it out, thanks for the reminder. Does Maderas de Oriente Oscuro live up to its fabulous name?

indeed it does. It’s the most dense fragrance ever. Lots of woods (guiacwood), no flowers no citrus just woody forest smoky. Use with caution. Gals or guys. Never met a pk perfume I didn’t like.

Happy Birthday, Portia. That is one heck of a birthday cake if I say so myself. I hope you had a wonderful day. I’m still enjoying you photos of Parramatta Park Wisteria — simply beautiful.
It’s been a quite week. I’ve been shopping for a mailbox. So exciting. The current one needs replacement after 15 years, it had to be red cedar because of the HOA regulations for my community. Fortunatley those rules needed to be changed, since no one makes these red cedar mailboxes anylonger. It’s been a struggle to adhere to the HOA new regulations, and find something of good quality that I like. Stupid stuff! I’m also getting the patio prepped for the upcoming fall/winter season. Not a great deal of interesing things to report. Not!
What was I wearing this week?

Thanks Flaconneur,
I know! That cake was freaking AWESOME!. It is now equal most spectacular cake with a Croquembouche that my last long term partner Varun had built by the kitchen in the hotel he was working in.
Agreed, the Wisteria walk is a spot of heaven.
Good luck with the post box and patio. We tend to brick or cement ones in Oz.
I have a Desert Suave, do you love it? I bought it on deep sale and have not yet opened it.
Terre d’Hermes and Cuir Velours! So cool. Also, I wear the Sung women, so thick and glorious.

It was quite impressive, Portia. I hope you had a great day! I am approaching the conclusion of the mailbox issue and have made a final choice. Installation is set for Friday, weather permitting. Wish me luck!
Desert Suave is on my all-time favorites list. I purchased it blind at a very deep discount. I was not disappointed. I doubt you will be either. I have Sung Homme, on my all-time favorites list as well.

Happy belated birfday. Was the cake brandy snap or cannolis. Looked delicious!
I only wore one scent this week. Neela’s Neith. One tiny spritz & it lasted THREE days & through two bubble baths. I’m eagerly awaiting your review.
Still not really autumn here, temps in the mid 20c & humid. Early mornings are like living in a wet blanket.
One of my favourite words is “mizzle” that mix of mist & drizzle you described.
Stuff happening with DH & my diabetic diet has been truly broken. I dreamed of chewy Devon toffee 3 nights in a row. I gave in & scoffed the lot! Back on the wagon now

Sorry to read that DH’s illness has you jumping off the wagon BUT I also wholeheartedly approve of really busting out when it happens. SO SATISFYING.
The wagon always looks better with a breakout clearly visible in the rear view mirror.

A belated Happy Birthday, Portia! Your birthday coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival on the lunar calendar and it looks like you got the gorgeous full moon.
We had family visit for the week so before they arrived, we paid a professional to deep clean our apartment for the first time since we moved into it over 5 years ago. It was lovely to spend quality time with them, and nice to get a break from work as well.
Bought the Maison Margiela Scentsorium discovery set because I had tried Anguish and Awe in a store and the scent of the blotter in my purse kept haunting me. Geranium, rose, and a sharp leather. They seem to work in clean lines, which I rather like.

Oooh! LOVE a discovery set. I have a dozen or two here that I bought but never opened. Yes, my illness is out of control. HA!
