Hey hey APJ,

When I recently bought some perfumes from Maison Francis Kurkdjian he sent me some samples. I thought I’d pass them on. I’ve spritzed them just to mini review.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian: Oud + 754

Fragrantica

Oud by Maison Francis Kurkdjian 2012

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Oud, cedar, patchouli, elemi, saffron

Citrus, resins and woods backed by the most family friendly oud ever.If you hate oud then this could definitely be your gateway fragrance. A subtle, melding with your own scent, fragrance that adds a touch of allure to how you normally smell.

Fragrantica

754 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian 2012

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Lemon
Heart: Lily-of-the-valley, sweet pea, freesia
Base: Sandalwood, white musk

754 is a very nice modern reinterpretation of the ozonic/aquatic genre. It brings the whole idea bang up to date and manages to make salted lemons, a crystallised bouquet and woodsy white musks smell amazingly new and interesting. I can already smell the gym locker rooms filling up with this magic scent.

  1. Thanks for the opportunity, Portia, I follow by email.
I think that I would like the Oud. I don’t have one, so this ‘gateway oud’ might be just what I’m looking for. It’s still cool here in Adelaide and we have a bit of winter left, so this sounds warm and woodsy.
    Thanks!

  2. Hi Portia!

I follow via email and the 745 would be my favorite to try. Despite what you say, I’m just not fond of oud at all. Thanks for the draw!

  3. Thanks Portia, for me Oud as it sounds spicy. I’ve never been too fond of aquatic though one can never tell. I follow email and WP.

  4. Hmm, the 754, I think. It sounds lovely! That said, I’ve only been impressed by one MFK so far (Grand Soir), so we will see.

Thanks, Portia! I follow by email.

  5. Hello Portia
It seems by the replies here there are two distinct ‘camps’ here those who love oud and those who aren’t overly keen . I do enjoy oud ,however the 754 appeals due to the lemon and sweet pea.
I follow via Facebook and email. Thank you for the opportunity .

  6. I would prefer 754, with its salted lemon note. Nothing more suited to this sweltering weather than freshest lemon. I live in the US and follow via email and FB, thanks!

  8. I happily follow APJ via email. The notes of 754 appeal to me the most, because I’m not an oud fan. However, I love MFK and actually do like his Oud Satin Mood, so maybe…who knows? I’d be thrilled to get either, but I expect I’ll love the 754 most.
