Hiram Green launched their latest creation, Lustre, at the Esxcence 2019. A rose soliflore, it is the luminous pearl in the otherwise brightly coloured collection of scented jewels, and perhaps the most exquisite.

Hey APJ. How are you all doing?
Do you ever blind purchase perfume? Have you ever had regrets over said purchase? Or to make matters worse, did you react negatively to the perfume?
I am not generally a blind buy gal. I wish I could be more spontaneous and just through caution to the wind. I get the itch to pull the trigger on something I really want when it is not available near me. Especially a limited edition that comes up once a year for 1 May.

Hey there, APJers!
Uh huh, been my lucky week. I scored a vintage parfum Safari from a very kind woman. Safari was my signature scent for years! I found it eerie to smell it again and have that rush of recognition flood me. It was almost like the last decade ceased to exist.

I just got back from Esxence 2019. Dribs and drabs of the visit will come out in some future posts. Did I have a brilliant time? Yes. Was the show great? Perhaps – if you could plough your way through the really nice bloggers, way too few, horrific YouTubers, way too many, and Perfume Influencers – wtf – do not even get me started. So many new brands, and I promise you they will not last a year. Enough of that! Let’s have a round up and some photos huh?

Hey APJ! I hope you are enjoying the spring or autumn weather in your part of the world.
This past week was a hectic week, getting everything finished in the house that needed to be done. The landlord fixed all of the the issues with the house and we finally got part of our closets! (Parts were delivered broken so we just have a mini skeleton up in the bedroom with rods which thankfully takes the clothes off of the railing.) It may seem trivial, but living without closets for four weeks and everything hanging over the banister or sitting in boxes left me frazzled. I will feel better once it has been sorted.

Well, well, APJ family, we meet again. Don’t… the pleasure is all mine!
This morning, I was filling up my car with petrol before work, and I was mulling over the vintage Coco parfum I was wearing. I love the opulent fullness of the notes and the complexity of the scent, even though the top notes have almost evaporated away. Later in the afternoon, I was to pick up a vintage Safari parfum and was already anticipating the lush dry greenness.

I am heading to Milan for the Esxence – The Scent of Excellence 2019 international event, dedicated to artistic perfumery. (artistic perfumery – covers a lot of stuff – hahahahaha) Blondeswonder is coming with me as my professional carer, or manager, depending which way you want to look at it. We are gonna get the night train down to Milan. We are way excited for this as we both love trains, but neither of us have ever had a sleeper cabin, or whatever they are called. We leave Salzburg at 22.00 and get into Milan at 09.00. The train station is across the road from the hotel, and the hotel to the show is about a ten minute walk. What am I gonna be doing?

Hello APJ! Hope everyone is enjoying a part of autumn or spring. On this snowy April day, I am missing the flowers in the Netherlands and am attaching some pictures here.
One of the joys of unpacking and settling in is the rediscovery of my ‘things’. As a child and in my teenage years we moved quite a bit over three continents. Naturally with those moves we had temporary housing while we waited for our shipment to arrive and while we looked for permanent housing. I remember the joy of helping my parents unpack and rediscovering my toys and books. As the new house was either smaller or larger I remember insisting with my parents that somebody had swapped out our furniture and replaced it with either larger or smaller identical pieces.

G’day APJ family. Really great to have you here!
I have been to a few perfume meet-ups now and I have been able to hear other like minded folk talk about perfumery and scent. It has been brilliant to learn how you all feel about, discuss and approach perfume. But what has become very obvious to me is how differently I process, not just my emotions regarding scent, but the pleasure, and pain, I get from smelling things.
