Pure Vanilla by Lavanila Laboratories 2007

Hello Vanilla Lovers,

Have I got a special treat for you today! Sophisticated vanilla…

Pure Vanilla by Lavanila Laboratories 2007

Fragrantica gives these featured accords in one line:
Patchouli, freesia, heliotrope, Madagascar vanilla and tonka bean

I have just realised how little vanilla-centric fragrance is in my collection. When I think vanilla I go straight for JPG Le Male, it’s still a fragrance that will make me follow a person wearing it to continue the sillage trail sniffing. Sure, many of my fragrances have or end in a vanilla of sorts but this is a whole new ballgame.

Pure Vanilla is a natural fragrance (whatever that means) and opens with a fabulous rush of lactic, spicy, vanilla. It’s awesome! Rich, warm and comforting, sexy and sensual. Great sillage and excellent scent bubble, though I wasn’t skunking people, and everyone elses fragrance was smelled through a vanilla haze tonight. I felt really beautiful while wearing Pure Vanilla, beautiful and rich. Considering how affordable it is, that is an awesome feat. I enjoyed the ride so much that at home tonight after work, 6 powerhouse hours later, I wanted to relive the fairly linear journey again. Maybe the flowers and patchouli add something elegant to this creation because it’s not just vanilla, it’s so much more: more interesting, more alluring and more beautiful. I am so impressed that I will track a bottle down while in the USA in May.

  1. My ex boyfriend used to love me in Vanilla but it was always hard to find a decent one. I ended up settling for vanilla perfume oil by the body shop.

It sounds like this one is much more sophisticated.

    Be well!

  2. Oh I love this line……they have quite a few vanilla combinations…vanilla lavender, vanilla grapefruit, vanilla coconut…etc, etc. The best part is that they are ALL NATURAL !!!!! (and quite affordable!) and are carried in Sephora (the closest thing I get to a “perfume shoppe”in my neck of the woods!)

  3. I had a bit of a vanilla phase a few months ago and ordered quite a few samples. This one sounds like a must-try. Merci, Portia…:-)

      • Let’s see… I ordered Profumum Vanitas, Mona Di Orio Vanille, CB 7 billion hearts, Farmacia SS Vaniglia del Madagascar. Love Mona Di Orio Vanille but there is something in the drydown I don’t care for and the same goes for 7 Billion Hearts, the Farmacia SS Vaniglia was good–but nothing to write home about (for me). The one I enjoyed the most was Vanitas– lasts forever on my scent-eating skin, too. I still think my favorite vanilla is Le Labo Vanille 44 and I think it is because of its smokey facet..that one always makes me swoon. I am happy to continue to seek out vanilla or vanilla-ish perfumes, though. Xox

  4. I enjoyed this one too. I thought Mona di Orio’s Vanille was my final vanilla, but it doesn’t work well for me on warm days, so I need summer vanillas too. I do have to add that after using up my spray sample of the Pure Vanilla I ordered a roll-on purse version, and it isn’t as nice. I don’t know why, but this one needs to be sprayed. I seem to go through vanilla phases every month or two, and when I’m in one, nothing else works for me. My next project is to wear Pure Vanilla on one wrist and Orchidee Vanille on the other and see how they compare, given that one is about four times the price of the other.

      • Ooh, your question made me realize that I ordered a sample of SDV along with a ton of other samples, and I never tried it! How’s that for missing the boat? I found it in the bottom of my sample box, and will try it as soon as my current frag wears off. With my scent eating skin, that won’t be a long wait.

  5. Oh, vanilla fragrances, love them! Pure Vanilla is my favorite of that yummy line. I like JPG’s Le Male as well.
