HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 APJ

Bittersweet Hellos Fellow Fumies,

The year is ending. Another chapter closed and no matter how good or bad 2013 was we can never go back there again. We have had a fantastic fun year at APJ with nearly 20 regular contributors and some very exciting extras. Thank you all for coming and reading, commenting, chatting, bringing us into your daily routine or contributing, you have all helped make Australian Perfume Junkies something I am extremely proud of. A team effort.

There will be some changing and rearranging through 2014, a little facelift, more reviews, more life and even more fabulous giveaways and competitions.

I, Portia, am grateful that you are part of this little family. You all make my day, every day, with this magic space we have created….

Thank You Apple Jian Awe FlickrPhoto Stolen Jian Awe  Flickr

Please have a Happy and Safe New Years Celebration. Waft into 2014 ready for success, health, wealth and happiness. It may not happen but if you are ready then it will be more fun.

Many of us are less than happy at this time. Take the time in 2014 to help yourself heal. Our warmest and most heartfelt hug to you all. It won’t always be this bad but it may not get better soon, push through and forward. Stick around, if nothing else our rampant ramblings here at APJ may give you a smile now and then.

I have been cleaning out the Perfume Room, there will be a huge cull soon and a Sale list. Here is a snap of most of the collection, there are 4 boxes that didn’t fit on the table. I am bragging but also heartily ashamed of my gluttony. It will slow in 2014……… Maybe…….

Portia's collection 2013

So farewell 2013 and WELCOME 2014.

  1. YEP! …Looks familiar, though I don’t possess a “perfume room”, please don’t give me such ideas! I confess that in the last few years I have developed such a phenomenon as a summer/spring and autumn winter perfume wardrobe, just like my clothes! When not being used, they are housed in a spare…. I mean “guest” bedroom. I shouldn’t be adding to my collection, would need 3 lifetimes to wear them all as it is, but that would be boring, which I don’t do when it comes to perfume 🙂

I hope you Portia, splurge on at least one up-opened one for NYE! Happy New Year and fragmenting 2014! Donelle xx

  3. Happy New Year And happy spring cleaning…
I sometimes have dreams where someone lets me loose on a collection of perfumes and products, much like the one on your table!
    Then I wake up.

This collection will remain like this for about 1 week before the cull starts. You are welcome to come stay for a night and sniff till your nose explodes.

  5. Wow. My inner librarian wants to know about your sorting system (by house?), and what percentage is Guerlain. (Or just Shalimar.) Also, your lamps are beautiful.

Happy New Year, and enjoy your new motorcycle. My resolution is to spend the next two days trying to get caught up with my favorite perfume blogs.

    • LaurelS,
I reckon 7-10% may be Shalimar and currently there is no system, Which is one of the reasons for this CER AY ZEE stockpile.
Can’t wait to get the Motorbike. Woo Hoo!
      Best for you in 2014.

  6. Wow, that is a truly impressive collection. I also couldn’t help noticing the carving on the table itself—it looks like a gorgeous piece! Sorting through everything and painting the Perfume Room is a great way to start the new year… you may just have inspired me to organize my scattered bottles and decants and samples.

Thank you for all of your posts and reviews this year, and happy 2014 to everyone at AJP!

  7. Happy New Year, dear Portia!

I want to hope that the next year will be at least not worse for those for whom this year was good and at least a little better for those who suffered this year.

  8. Thank you, Portia. I enjoy APJ very much as it is so light hearted. Not so serious. Fun as perfume can be. Your collection with boxes makes me smile, glad to see I am not the only one 😉 Have a fabulous new year and evening both of you ! And all of the contributors of APJ as well.

  9. I see why you have a room for perfumes. 😉 I wouldn’t mind being able to do that myself. Sigh.
“Health, wealth, and happiness” is what I also wish for everyone for the New Year…….and the joy of beautiful fragrances!

  10. If you have a whole room, Portia, you definitely have room for more! (Although that beautiful table seems to be groaning under the weight of all the bottles).

Thank you and the APJ for so much fun in 2013. Best wishes for a great New Year

    • it does look like that but age has bent the edges a little downwards on the table, bad for marbles.

It is wonderful having you in the family Azar. I hope 2014 is excellent for you and your crew.

  12. You are so brave, pruning your collection. However, I find that by clearing a space, new bottles creep in ….. nature abhors a vacuum/

A very happy 2014 to you and all your readers!

    • Ha Ha ha! Jillie, I could get rid of 200 bottles and it would not be a vacuum.

  19. I am not worthy! With my one basket crammed with bottles, I’m a rank amateur. A very happy 2014 to you Portia and all the APJs; 2013 was a happy year indeed because it brought you all into my life and I can never go back to being a 1-perfume-every-3-years kinda gal. Cheers!

    • Welcome to the maelstrom Fifi,
I am currently having a chat with a frag mate and the one thing that we agree wholeheartedly on is that you need to keep it from being compulsion buying because then it’s not a carefully curated collection it’s just a MESS, like my collection. My enjoyment levels decreased after a certain collection point and many of my gorgeous, magical, extraordinary frags were not getting any skin time and stuck at the back of a cupboard. This cleanout should give me some breathing space.
