Christian Siriano Silhouette Fragrance 2014 Ad Campaign

Hi hi APJers,

Here is a new release that I was unaware of till right now. To be honest I’ve never heard of this young American designer. I love his sense of fun and quirk in the design of the bottle though. It really does feel like a layered and pleated gown, the colours are interesting too. I would not have been surprised if Kenzo had brought out this look.

Fragrantica gives these featured accords in one line:
Grapefruit, black currant, green apple, freesia, purple berries, green notes, woody tones, oak moss

I’ve not smelled the fragrance yet and it looks fairly formulaic designer 21st century froth but who knows, they may surprise us.

  1. Portia darling! Christian Siriano was the winner of “Project Runway” a tv fashion competition show here in the U.S.. Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum are the hosts and the judges are usually Nina Garcia who is Fashion Director at Elle Magazine and Michael Kors. (Michael is replaced this season and last by Zak Posen) The winner of the show gets a showing at New York Fashion Week, a car, a ton of money to start their design house. It is quite something. Christian is very talented and has a huge celebrity following. Personally I found him very cloying and annoying on the show. Every other word out of his mouth was “Firece!” and it caught on for a while. He has calmed down over the last seven years(or I have mellowed) and is much more interesting. I like his designs, some of which are truly stunning. He launched his perfume last week at NY Fashion Week and I saw him interviewed about it. He has really come a very long way.

      • No I haven’t smelled it yet…I spent today at Neiman Marcus getting cozy with the brand new Diana Vreeland line… You will fall off your howls when you smell theTuberose called Simply Divine… Christian will have to wait!

  2. I am not very into fashion, but Siriano has done a pretty good job dressing up celebrities every once in a while on the red carpet (especially the lovely Christina Hendricks, I believe). He seems to have a good sense of fun incorporated into his designs 🙂 All that said, I have no interest on this perfume based on the notes but I kind of want to try it anyway?? Perhaps that is how good publicity works! Also, it hurts not one bit that Coco Rocha looks phenomenal in the ads…I LOVE that second picture.

    • TOTALLY love the second picture. so old school Hollywood. Amazing image.
Nemo, I am interested in how someone so obviously talented sees fragrance, and how he adds brand value through his choice. It will be interesting.

  3. Hi Portia,
Christian Siriano was quite a celebrity on Project Runway. He was and is very outspoken and has come up with some pretty outrageous and insulting gaffs. Nevertheless his designs (and this ad campaign) are beautiful. I would buy this fragrance just for the bottle but not until it hits the discounters! By the way, who is the perfumer (or company) behind the fragrance?

    • Hey Azar,
No one is being named as nose or distributor that I can see. As soon as I know I’ll pass along the info.

      • Hi again Portia,
The Fragrance Group (Prestige Fragrances?) distributes but I couldn’t find a nose or manufacturer. Mysterious…
BTW the second photo is fascinating but seems somehow dangerous, reminding me of the poisonous Portugese Man o’ War that used to beach by the thousands on the east coast of FL when I was a child.

  4. If you ever catch a cold and want to watch tv, Project Runway is one of the best shows ever. The structure is the same as in Top Chef, so the creative process of the designers is very engaginly displayed. Nina Garcia is the perfect bitch, Heidi Klum is beautiful and robotic in a funny way, and Tim Gunn is the nicest, sweetest and most clever person in this wide world. I think you´ll love it. (No affiliation, lol.) Christian Siriano was so funny during his season. He was very young, and completely ruled it. Fierce!

  5. Since I’m not into either fashion or TV shows about it, until today I’ve never heard this name but I really like the bottle on the picture and if I ever come across it I’ll give this perfume a try – though I’m 99% certain it will be just a regular celebuscent-type perfume.

    • My fingers are crossed but I fear you are correct Undina. Then again, this man is apparently known for bucking trends, we may be surprised.
